Sortie, Angel of Death Chapter 11

It has been a week and a half since we arrived in this sleepy town. C. J. started work at the local oil change shop, the day after we arrived. Willow tracked down vampire’s nests during the day, I hunted during the night. Four days ago I was accepted as a waitress at the big diner in the middle of town. Three days ago I actually started, honestly the people are annoying. The other’s working here did not train me as long as the owner said. The only person that works here that does not shy away from me is the owner. That idiot comes in every day forcing me to have lunch with him. He yammers on about trivial matters and stops me every time I walk by. It is very obvious that he is not of supernatural blood but I do fully believe he is the biggest supernatural sleaze ball in the world. I pity the women that has had to deal with this bull. Telling the manager to have my schedule change to the night shift, he had it immediately switched from 11 am – 7 pm to 4 pm – 12 am. Other wait staff have been spreading rumors I have been receiving large tip outs every night.

I believe by the month mark we should have enough money to travel again. Willow has informed me that C. J. has his weekly pay check paid out in cash form. She also is in charge of keeping the money, so far the amount adds up to a grand. C. J. has to keep roughly 35% of his check for food. Weekend starts tomorrow, C. J. has that time off this week according to Willow. My schedule is for seven days a week, gladly I can make more money by doing all the days. That also means I only have to see C. J. and talk to him two out of fourteen days. I am loving these work hour differences.

C. J. Work Schedule

Monday through Friday 6 am until 4 pm with an hour unpaid, mandatory lunch. Every other week Saturday and Sunday from 10 am until 5 pm.

Lap Over Time

After I get released from work at 12 am I am met by Willow and we go hunting until 7 am -ish. Get things done until 3:30 pm then go to work.

Three Weeks After Arriving

I Seriously am ready to leave. Willow says C. J. is doing fine, just seems a bit lonely. However, I want to snap these people’s necks. I have made over three grand since I started, the customers are becoming to friendly. Not even smiling and these drunk idiots try to touch me. What’s worse the owner has decided to come every night sitting at the bar watching my movements. Smelling alcohol and after smell of smokers, I can see why those abominations wanted to destroy all of man kind. Gladly I lived as a human before so I know this is not all there is to offer.

Honestly I am glad there is so much activity next to the express way. I do not need to travel far for feeding. C. J. has started working more. The full moon is coming soon, he needs to leave before that. Wisp’s says we have four days to leave, a pack will be here at that time. C. J. will have to be removed before too long from this day time sleepy town.

“Willow, have C. J. set a time for us to meet.” I say while hunched on a branch above.

“Alright, it is becoming harder to find your food;” Willow sighed.

“We do not have any time left either way,” I rolled my neck.

“Shall I give those who annoy you a hard time?”

“I could snap their necks if I so pleased. However, I just want to keep my head down for this time.”

“Then how about when it is your last day?”

“I have a few thoughts…” I chuckled softly.

The next day C. J. came back to the motel for lunch. Sitting at the table we kept eye contact while he stubbornly tells me to stay longer.

“No, three days;” I announce.

“But!” his whimper was clear.

“What ever the reason is remember three things:

1. You are not human.

2. Taste human blood once, I kill you.

3. You are being hunted.

If you still want to stay then you become a danger to this village and I will only have two choices.”

“Shorty, you just do not understand!”

“There is nothing to understand.”

“But!”

“Two choices, three days;” I got up and walked down the road towards work. Willow stayed behind with the fool but who knows what he will decide. Not sure what there is to decide to begin with. As I got to the door I muttered below my breath, ‘two more days, two more.’ Then I continued my normal daily routine. Pushing myself to be pleasant even to those who do not give respect. ‘Two more days, two more.’

Those two days flew by in a flash. Clocking out for the last time the boss man come up behind me with a raspy voice near my ear, “You were looking for me?”

Tightening my fist I breath out before turning to face this slim ball; “yes I sure was.”

“Do we need to go into the office then?”

“Not really.”

“Come to the office,” his hand wrapped around my wrist while pulling me to the door of his.

“Welcome to my office what can I do for you?” The smile that sneered on his face made my stomach turn. His eyes traced up and down my body with a clear lustful gleam. My arms come over my chest on their own volition earning me chuckle from his throat. Men like him make me glad I do not drink from humans.

“Today is my last day, I will need to have all our money even out by tomorrow afternoon.”

“WHAT!”

A low growl escaped my chest from the shriek of this over grown horny teen monkey. I steadied my gaze at him as he kept his mouth yapping about something. After he stopped wasting my time I walked out. Close behind me I could hear his frantic steps. Three, two, one, and now there is a large figure standing in front of door. Rolling my neck around I steady my glare to see a smiling idiot with the door open looking at me. The hurried steps behind me halted.

“Why are you here C. J.?” I asked raising my one of my brows to him.

“I wanted to see my favorite girl home on her last night at work. Something wrong?” The smile on that dummy's face was only half as gleeful as the cheer in his mocking eyes.

“Favorite girl?” I huffed in disbelief.

“He’s your boyfriend?” mumbled the slim behind me.

“Well of course you are,” C. J. announced loudly in the now quiet room.

“You are an idiot kid,” I growled as I walked past him. Kept walking towards my room ignoring the cheerful boy on light feet behind me.

“Willow said that you may get into a rather unnecessary fight. So I came to bring you home so you would not kill any of them.”

“You really are stupid, I do not kill humans. Do you not work tomorrow, as well? Will you not be tired?”

“Yes I work tomorrow, I should be fine tomorrow I will just go to sleep early tomorrow night.”

“Are you still wanting to stay?”

“Yeah I do want to stay, but I am sure you would not let me either way.”

“Correct, like I said two choices.”

“Will you tell me what those are?”

“Coming freely or coming by force.”

“Force?”

“Yeah, I’d drain you until you passed out.”

“WHY WOULD YOU NOT JUST KNOCK ME OUT!”

“What fun would that be? Knocking you out would only last long enough to set you in the truck and maybe out of town. Draining you would last about a day or so.”

“You really are scary.”

“Only to your type.”

“Our”

“Your”

“You are part of us.”

“Never.”

“You are so annoying sometimes.”

“So are you, only all the time.”

“SHORTY! That is just rude, you snob.”

“Idiot.”

“Willow will scold you for being rude.”

“No.”

“UGH!”

He kept trying to argue while whining as we continued towards the room we will stay in one last night. Throwing his arms around like a child as he stomped behind me. Willow tracked all the supers in this location this last month. I had slowly wiped them out, while Willow would come behind me to gather extra blood for road bags. Yesterday I filled all the tanks for the travel, spending money on food and drinks that mutton head could eat. Willow put all the preparations next to her own stash in the false bottom in the bed. The tanks hidden in a different compartment. We were ready to go tomorrow night. That will leave two nights before the full moon and our trackers.
