Sortie, Angel of Death Chapter 22

“Why would you want me to prepare to fight if you only planned to be sneaky about the fight either way?” C. J.’s voice sounded as a child throwing a tantrum.

“I was not clear if we would be able to succeed on the stand point of face to face. Still you need to practice if you want to stay with me,” saying this as I continue driving.

“So I have a choice?” I could almost see his ears pick up as if a tail would start swishing behind him.

“No, I am saying you need to learn how to fight or I will have to watch you kill yourself.”

“That is too cruel. I just thought you were going to let me leave.”

“Fine.”

“REALLY!”

“Yup so do you want an open casket or closed?”

“You are truly an evil monster!” turning to look out at the scenes passing by us.

“How so?”

“If I choose to leave, you will kill me.”

“It is for everyone’s safety.”

“Oh, that reminds me. Are you really that powerful?” his words make my skin crawl.

“I am not powerful.”

“Yet you had the king of alpha’s shaking while is entire pack peed themselves.”

“And yet, you are the one who killed the most powerful lycanthrope army.”

“Because you told me too!”

“I guess you are the super powerful one!” I say as a fan girl with innocent large eyes.

“You are mean!”

“Listen, nymphs are a mystery in this current world. But the response from that ‘king’ proved that he had always been fearful of them. Even through a nymph can not kill a powerful beast they have the ability to harm any mix bloods. Are you not a fearful creature then?”

“Why did you have me kill the mass, yet killed the other two yourself?”

“Did you want to kill your own father that badly?”

“No,” his words are soft as he leans his head back.

“Then be happy.”

“Why are they so afraid of you though?”

“Why did the man who claimed himself to be your father reject you when you faced him?”

“He had bad eyes, probably.”

“You do not resemble the line he wanted. You are different, so you were something that he could not handle.”

“So they fear you because you are different?”

“Kind of.”

“Not because you can wipe out masses by your self with out remorse?”

“If you think that.”

“Why are you so powerful?”

“I made a deal to kill a devil.”

“Do you not mean that you made a deal with a devil?”

“I would never.”

“You are frustrating!”

“Thank you,” a smile leaks to my face as he pouts avoiding his sight from me.

“C. J., Sortie is the power of the wind. Most are not capable to control such powers. Since she choose this life and she finds peace that came from the wind, it was given to her as her magic. Wind can control or destroy all other elements. The knowledge of how to use that magic lies with Sortie and Sortie alone. No one has ever been able to use and live with that power in the history. Her power is something that makes other fear. Adding the fact that she does not hunt humans but the monsters themselves made her name the icon of death to those who usually bring death.” Willow links while sighing.

“You are a traitor Willow!” I say smacking her butt.

“Wind is that extraordinary?” C. J. yells at the same time. Looking at me for an hour while I continued to drive before he speaks up again. “Does that mean you can kill any of the supers?”

“Idiot,” I sighed without speaking more.

“Could you kill Willow if you wanted?”

“Willow can not die.”

“How about that witch?”

“I have no desire to try.”

“What if you chose too?”

“I do not.”

“What if?”

“Why live in fantasy when we should try to head to the spot I was looking for before you joined me.”

“Oh? I did not know you already had a mission you were doing.”

“Why would I not?”

“Then why did you help me?”

“Did you want to die?”

“No, but still.”

“Shut up already. You need to train your mind because this is not a fight that will be easy like that mutt king.”

“That was easy? But you made us work out while tracking them and then laid a trap and every thing.”

“That was super easy.”

“How so?”

“Shut up already.”

“But I am curious.”

“So you are a mutt mix cat?”

“CAT?”

“Yes, curiosity killed the cat.”

“I am not a cat so I do not get killed,” he explains with a huge grin on his face.

“Annoying,” I mumble as I blare the radio to drown out his yapping.

Pushing our limits we took a month to make it to the castle of the emperor stopping only to train and fuel the truck. The hike from where the road ended to the entrance of the castle, we managed in a week. Willow kept C. J. entertained so I would stop trying to drain his blood. The night before we would get to the entrance we had a feast while keeping a wide eye for intruders. Playing with the fabric in my pocket, my mind fails to keep me happy. I know what will lie ahead, Willow maybe the only one to make it out alive. I forced us to come here as soon as possible for the new moons are too soon to ignore. Now that the leader of the mutts are gone the world may become a different level kind of nightmare. I know he is waiting for me I can feel him watching me. I know through magic he is capable to keep track of my progress, yet I can not help my job.

“Hey, Shorty are you alright?” C. J. asked while tilting his head across the fire pit.

“Yeah,” to my short reply Willow glared at me.

“What is this job any ways?”

“We are marching to the Emperor, himself.”

“Who is that?”

“Awe young dog,” the deep voice rang out behind me. I no longer had to look to know who it was. “That would be me. My dear angel, how have you been?”

“I am coming for you. Let me have peace for a few more hours,” I groaned.

“But, my angel I look forward to your arrival;” the smooth voice kept steady.

“SHE IS NOT YOUR ANGEL YOU CREEP!” C. J. yelled as he started running towards me.

“Stop it,” I tell him while looking into his eyes. “I am coming, but you will not enjoy my time there,” my words come out with no emotions as I steady my eyes at the fire.

“My angel of death coming to me is enough for a celebration,” he whispers before fizzing out of sight. C. J. starts rubbing his eyes hard looking where that man once stood.

“Where did he go?”

“He was never here C. J. it was an illusion on the mist,” I say flatly.

“Why does he keep calling you His angel or HIS angel of death?”

“He is a creepy old man, what do you want me to say?” I say throwing a rock at the dummy’s head before jumping onto a branch to ‘bed’ for the night. The sun will rise soon, we will need to be prepared. Wanting to have my rage simmer until I could let it out is the only way to keep me from knowing my revenge will come to an end before long.
