Chapter 63: At Last, They Meet
“By the way, Fina, do you have anything planned next?”
“Nothing in particular.”
“In that case, come out with me for a bit, will you?”
“What are you going out for?”
“I’ve run out of research materials, so I want to go buy another batch.”
“Huh? No way. Every time you ask me to go with you, you just make me carry things for you. I’m not going.”
“Oh, come on, dear Fina. Please? Please? I’m begging you.”
Loxi went over to Fina’s side and clung to her arm as she pleaded.
“All right, all right, stop shaking me. If you keep this up, I’m going to fall apart.”
Fina shook her head with a smile. “I’ll go with you, all right?”
“Yay!”
The moment Loxi heard that, she immediately jumped up.
“I knew Fina was the best.”
“Then hurry up and get ready. If it gets too late, I’m not going with you anymore.”
“No problem. I’ll be quick!”
Loxi immediately began getting ready.
Five minutes later, she was done.
“I’m ready. Let’s go.”
“Let’s go.”
One after the other, Loxi and Fina left the dormitory.
In the blink of an eye, they were out through the academy gates.
The academy was right next to the commercial street,
so there were many magic tool shops nearby.
It would not take long for Loxi to gather all the materials she wanted here.
An hour later, Loxi had finally bought everything she needed.
The two of them were a little tired, so they decided to eat dinner before going back.
Loxi looked around and noticed that there was only one inn where they could eat.
“Huh? The Cat Pavilion Inn? Fina, let’s eat here before we head back.”
Loxi suggested.
“All right. Coming out with you has exhausted me. I’m going to eat a huge meal now and bankrupt you.”
Fina nodded as she spoke.
“Hehe, bankrupt me? Sorry, but Fina alone could never manage that.”
Loxi looked very pleased with herself.
Fina knew exactly what she meant.
Ever since Loxi had created the Language Translator, she had never lacked money again.
No matter how much Fina could eat, there was no way she could bankrupt Loxi.
“Welcome. Are you two here to dine or stay the night?”
“To eat.”
“Very well. There is an open table over here. Please follow me.”
Loxi and Fina followed the staff member toward an empty table.
At this hour, the first floor was packed.
People were chatting about all sorts of things from all over the world.
One was talking about what kind of monster he had hunted, another about the new spell he had learned. The place was lively to the extreme.
The two girls sat down.
Loxi began ordering dishes.
She was not short on money, so no matter where she ate, she never mistreated herself.
Fina did not particularly care what she ate. She merely looked around and listened to the conversations nearby.
Then, in the very next moment, Fina’s gaze stopped.
Right after that, she rubbed her eyes.
Because she suspected that she might be seeing things.
How could Ryan possibly be here?
But after rubbing her eyes, she discovered that Ryan really was seated at a table in the distance.
“...All right, let’s start with these for now.”
After finishing the order, Loxi looked up at Fina. “Fina, I’m done ordering. Do you want to add anything?”
But then Loxi noticed that Fina had gone completely still, her eyes fixed somewhere in the distance.
“Fina?”
Fina did not answer. Instead, she stood up and slowly walked toward Ryan.
“You can go for now. We’ll call you later.”
Loxi sent the staff member away.
Fina quickly arrived at Ryan’s table.
“Ryan?”
Hearing someone call his name, Ryan quickly looked up.
“Fina?”
Ryan had not expected Fina to truly appear right in front of him.
“Ryan, it really is you!”
Fina cried out in delight and immediately threw herself at him!
“Ryan... I missed you so much.”
Fina buried her head against Ryan’s chest and spoke in a low voice.
Her voice was filled with endless longing.
Ryan could feel how much Fina had missed him just from the sound of it.
And he felt no differently.
Although they had not been apart for very long,
there was an old saying: one day apart feels like three autumns.
Ryan was also overjoyed to see Fina again.
It was just that, compared with Fina’s excitement, Ryan was more restrained.
After all, there were so many people here.
Ryan gently patted Fina on the back.
“Fina, get down now. There are a lot of people here.”
“Oh... all right.”
Reluctantly, Fina pulled herself out of Ryan’s embrace.
After so long, she had finally seen Ryan again.
“Fina, did you come here alone?”
“Oh, no. I came with a friend. Wait a moment, I’ll call her over.”
Fina turned to look at Loxi. “Loxi, come over here.”
“Huh? Coming.”
Loxi froze for a moment, then walked over.
“Loxi, let me introduce you. This is my fiancé, Ryan.”
“Ryan, this is my roommate, Loxi. She’s also a magic tool maker.”
Fina introduced the two of them.
“Hello, I’m Ryan.”
“Hello, I’m Fina’s roommate, Loxi.”
Loxi was rather surprised.
Just a moment ago, back in the dormitory, they had been talking about Ryan.
She had not expected to meet him so soon.
Fina also voiced the question in her heart. “Ryan, did you come here to see me this time?”
Ryan nodded. “Yes, Fina. I came here specifically to see you.”
“Then why didn’t you come to the academy to look for me?”
Ryan gave a bitter smile. “It’s a long story. I went to the academy on the first day I arrived and wanted the guards to notify you for me. But when they saw that I wasn’t a Mage, they rejected me on the spot. I had no choice but to wait here during the day and see whether I might run into you if you came out.”
“What? Damn it, how could the guards be like that?!”
The moment Fina heard Ryan’s words, she exploded.
This was only because she had happened to come out shopping with Loxi today and run into him by chance.
Otherwise, who knew how much longer it would have taken before she saw Ryan?
At that thought, Fina stood up at once, ready to return to the academy and teach the guards a lesson.
They had delayed her reunion with Ryan.
If she did not show those blind guards some consequences, then she was not worthy of being Ryan’s fiancée.
“There’s no need. We’ve already met now, haven’t we?”
Ryan grabbed Fina and tried to calm her down.
This was not a major matter.
And now that the two of them had finally met,
would it not be putting the cart before the horse if they wasted time over irrelevant people?
Fina nodded and sat back down.
But in her heart, she had already made a note of it.
Once Ryan left, she would have plenty of time to deal with those witless guards.
“Ryan, take this. Next time you come, you can use this to get into the academy.”
Fina handed Ryan her student ID.
That way, next time Ryan came, he could use the ID to have the guards notify her.
“All right. I’ll take it.”
Ryan did not refuse.
After that, Ryan asked Fina about how she had been doing during this time.
Fina also told Ryan about everything she had experienced lately.
Ryan listened with great interest.
After Fina finished speaking, she looked at Ryan with shining eyes.
It was obvious that Fina wanted to hear about Ryan’s experiences during this time as well.
Ryan also told Fina everything that had happened to him lately.
When he got to the civil strife within the Jurgen Family, Fina cried out in shock.
Loxi, on the other hand, remained very calm.
Because she had seen plenty.
Families like the Jurgen Family existed in every country.
Power struggles within great families were a common sight.
So she was not surprised at all.
Ryan also told Fina everything about Nika.
Fina was not unhappy.
Because she had long known that Ryan would never have only one woman in the future.
After learning about Nika’s tragic experiences, Fina felt somewhat sympathetic.
Although she had grown up in extreme poverty,
the people at the Orphanage, along with Ryan, had always been by her side.
She had been happy.
So when she learned that Ryan had rescued Nika, she was not angry.
After seeing that the two of them had finished talking, Loxi finally could not hold herself back anymore. “Mister Ryan, I heard from Fina that the Desert Eagle she has was a gift from you?”
Ryan nodded. “That’s right.”
“Then may I ask something presumptuous? Could I trouble you to sell me a Desert Eagle?”
Ryan complained inwardly, You really are being presumptuous!
But he did not say that aloud.
“I’m sorry, Miss Loxi. That was a gift I gave to my fiancée. It is not a commodity for sale.”
“So, I’m sorry.”
Ryan refused.
“Mister Ryan, please don’t reject me so quickly. Just name your price in Gold Coins. I definitely won’t bargain.”
Loxi hurriedly said.
“It’s not a matter of money. I’m not short of money. I simply don’t want to sell it.”
“Uh... Fina...”
Seeing Ryan’s firm attitude, Loxi felt rather helpless and looked at Fina pitifully.
Fina was a little helpless when she saw Loxi’s expression.
In the end, she still could not bear it.
“Ryan, if it’s possible, could you give Loxi a Desert Eagle?”
Fina said softly.
“Mm...”
Ryan fell silent for a moment, then asked, “Miss Loxi, may I know what you want the Desert Eagle for? Is it for self-defense, or some other purpose?”
“A moment ago, Fina told you that I am a magic tool maker. The Desert Eagle is far too attractive to me. How was it made? Why is it so powerful? If an ordinary person used it, could it injure a Mage?”
“I want to understand all of those questions!”
“That’s why I want to buy one to study. But I begged Fina for a long time, and she refused to let me have it. Now that I’ve finally met you, I truly hope you’ll sell me one. Please rest assured, Gold Coins are not a problem. I do have some savings.”
After speaking, Loxi looked at Ryan anxiously.
The moment Ryan heard Loxi’s words, his first reaction was that he absolutely could not sell it to her.
The one thing he had been trying his best to avoid was letting news about firearms spread.
If the wrong people found out that firearms had originated from him, then endless trouble would surely follow in the future.
Ryan had no desire to have his life disturbed by countless people.
Fina seemed to sense what Ryan was thinking. She leaned close to his ear and whispered, “Ryan, actually, you could sign a contract with Loxi and make her keep it secret that you’re the creator. That way, it wouldn’t become troublesome.”
