~ Red ~
I was standing when I saw my Alpha, but my body was tense to see Helena.
“She spent the night with me.”
“But—”
“We’ll talk after breakfast. But, for now, let’s eat first.”
“Alpha—”
“Didn’t you hear what I said?!”
My body was trembling. It was the first time our Alpha used a cold tone like that to me. I immediately bent my head and mumbled, “My apologies, Alpha.”
“Good! It’s time you know your place.”
I glanced at Helena. It was because of her! Our Alpha had never been so cold to me. NEVER! Both of them spent the night together, and he changed drastically. She should have told Alpha something.
Ernie came with scrambled eggs, sausages, toasted bread, bacon, ham, and beans. The smell was delicious, and Helena’s stomach sounded immediately.
Alpha laughed and rubbed her tummy. “Be patient. Soon, your stomach will be filled.”
Helena blushed. “Yes, for sure.”
“But it doesn’t surprise me after last night.” Alpha winked his eyes at Helena.
I clenched my teeth to see how our Alpha flirted with Helena. But, I ignored both and waited for us to get our meals first.
“What do you want, my darling?” Alpha asked.
“Oh, it’s okay. I can get the meals by myself.” Then Helena smiled and placed her hand on the Alpha’s hand. “Do you want me to get some meals on your plate?”
“Sure! I love when my mate serves me.” He purposefully stressed the phrase ‘my mate’.
Since Alpha was never like this before, I knew that he should learn something from Helena. But, unfortunately, it might be that Helena had already leaked what I told her to Alpha. Untrustworthy woman!
Helena got each meal on our Alpha’s plate and then put the dish on the table. Then she asked, “Do you want me to get you the meals too, Red?”
I didn’t answer. I just shook my head. How clever she acted so sweet in front of my Alpha! I hated her more because of that.
“When your Luna asks, you must answer. A gesture only is not sufficient.”
I tightened my fists. It was the first time our Alpha used his power to humiliate me. “No, thank you, Luna. I can get the meals by myself.”
Our Alpha suddenly stood.
“Why do you stand? Eat your breakfast first,” Helena said.
Our Alpha’s stare at me was as cold as ice now. “You are lucky that your Luna is so patient and forgiving. If Lynnette were still alive, she might whip you for that.”
Both Helena and I gasped because Ethan suddenly mentioned Lynnette’s name.
“Alpha!”
“Ethan, what’s wrong?”
Alpha threw his napkin on the table. “Did you or did you not tell Helena that Lynnette died because of me?”
“I-I ….”
“Answer me!”
I was trembling, then kneeling. “I did. I was wrong; I know it. But I did it for our goodness.”
“Our goodness? Haven’t I told you that, as an Alpha, I need to honor my word? I have promised Freya, Helena’s mother, that I would take care of and protect Helena. So, then, why on earth did you sneak out behind my back and tell Helena about Lynnette?” Then our Alpha said his following words by stressing each word, “It is not your damn business!”
Helena immediately stood and hugged the Alpha. “Please, Ethan, don’t be like this. I shouldn’t tell you about this. It’s my fault.”
“Helena ….”
“I only thought what he thought was the best for everyone. He didn’t mean to hurt you.”
It startled me to know that Helena defended me in front of our Alpha. My hatred evaporated so fast. On the contrary, I even started liking Helena because of that.
“What else did he tell you?”
“Nothing!” Helena immediately said. “Please, let’s forget everything. He’s your best friend and your man. You should know him better than this.”
“Because he is my best friend and man, he should know me better than this!” Our Alpha clenched his fist. “He betrayed me as a friend and my man when he told you about Lynnette.”
“Ethan, please don’t be like this. I’m the one who shouldn’t tell you about this. I’m so sorry, okay?”
“No! It’s not your fault since you are my mate and my Luna. It’s him who’s at fault. He shouldn’t do something beyond my command, especially when it comes to you. You are his superior too, Helena.”
Helena approached our Alpha and rubbed his chest. Then, she murmured while stroking his chest, “How about we eat first? It’s not good to fight when our stomach is empty. We’ll feel better if we are not hungry anymore.”
Our Alpha let out a long sigh, then he deliberately grabbed Helena’s waist and pulled her body. Later, he demonstratively kissed Helena’s lips in front of me.
Helena gasped when our Alpha stroked her body. “Ethan, we’re not alone.”
“You are my mate. I know it so well! But, since he has forgotten his place, I remind him.”
My heartbeat was fast. I knew that I had made a terrible mistake. Our Alpha might replace me or even banish me from the pack. He had already told everyone in the pack not to say a word about Lynnette to Helena. I broke his trust by telling Helena about Lynnette.
Since our Alpha didn’t mention anything about my asking Helena to leave Ethan, my sweat poured heavily. If she told our Alpha about that, he would be more furious than now. I was so sure about that.
Our Alpha was correct. If our Luna were still Lynnette, I would be dead by now since Lynnette was such an evil bitch. Lynnette might be so beautiful as an angel but had a heart as black as a devil.
Knowing my mistake, I bent my body until my forehead touched the floor. “I know my mistake, Alpha. You can punish me as you want. You can kill me too.”
“No!” Helena ran in front of me. She knelt too. “Please don’t do it, Ethan! If you hurt Red, I can’t be with you anymore.”
“Get up, Helena! He doesn’t deserve your pity. Why do you defend him?”
“Ethan, please, you are too angry now. You will regret your words later.” Then Helena got up. “It’s between Red and me.” She turned her body and said, “I’m sorry, Red. It slipped my mouth. I didn’t mean to tell Ethan.”
“Luna, I’m the one who should apologize to you. I’m sorry!” I reached forward and then kissed Luna’s feet. “Please forgive me. I won’t do such a stupid thing again.”
“Red, I forgive you.”
I was trembling. Our Luna is an angel, but I misunderstood her so severely. Then I started slapping my face twice.
“What are you doing?” Helena gasped.
“I deserve it, Luna. I’m truly sorry.”
“I have forgiven you. Let’s forget anything.”
“Hold it!”
Both Helena and I glanced at the Alpha. “Helena is so forgiving. It’s good. As a Luna, she is the mother of our people. Yet, you also neglect another duty I gave you.”
“What is it?” Helena asked.
“I asked him to guard you. Last night, Kenneth, Helena’s ex-boyfriend, almost caught her, and Constantine almost raped her!”
“What?” I was too shocked to hear that. I deserved to die. “I truly made an unforgivable mistake. Please kill me, Alpha!”
