There was no training in the pack, no talk with anyone since I fucked up my life. Marcus had warned me to stay away from Scarlett and honestly, I didn’t care about his threats. Still, I went to see Scarlett but her mom didn't even let me enter the house.
Layla threw me disdainful glances when I tried to prove my innocence, I didn’t do it deliberately. I didn’t even remember anything and since that day, Todd had probably shunned me out. I tried to connect with him and send a message through mind-link to Scarlett but I couldn’t.
I couldn't feel the mind-link with her working anymore. My father had asked me to let her go so she could be happy with Marcus or someone else and won’t get hurt because of me which seemed right because I never made her happy. I kept hurting her since the day I found out that she was my mate. She deserves someone better who could keep her happy, who could fight for her, who wouldn’t bring her a messy life like mine.
“Klaus,” Jenny stepped into my room carrying a plate of food into her hands. “Please, eat something. You haven’t eaten anything in the last two days. You’re an Alpha and you have so many matters in your hand that need your attention. Father and grandpa seek your presence in the office.”
My sister behaved like a robot with me but still, she cared about me. Since she got to know what I did to Scarlett, everyone hated me except my mom who seemed happy while getting that news. My mom told me that I did nothing wrong, it was fair. It’s Amber’s right and my duty to fulfill as a husband.
I hadn’t stepped out of my room since I returned from Scarlett’s house. An overdose of wine and vodka had been burning my stomach lately but I deserved that pain. I punished myself that way.
“You smell of alcohol, brother,” Jenny sat closer to me and patted my shoulder. “If you loved her that much, why did you do that to her? I don’t even know what to say, Amber seems happy with whatever happened. You’re stuck between two women, no matter what you do, one of them gets hurt for sure,” she stated as a matter of fact.
I faked a smile before gulping the shot of vodka down my throat. “I couldn’t care less about Amber. She knew that I had a mate, I was marked and mated, I must haven’t forced her to do that.”
Letting out a frustrated sigh, Jenny shook her head and said coldly, "I don't think that Amber or any other woman can force you to sleep with her. It must be your horniness and Scarlett must be already suffering from the pain because you mated with someone else but you couldn't care less."
"Damn it!" I shouted at her before throwing the glass on the floor which made my sister jump in trepidation.
"I fu-king didn't do anything intentionally, I can't recall anything except waking up in my bed with Amber, and Scarlett's mother didn't even allow me to see her. Todd has shunned me, I can't send any mind-link to my mate though we've marked each other and are mated mates. I'm also in pain but does anyone think about me?" I let all my frustration out in a loud voice which caused my mother to come into my room, too.
Jenny smiled cruelly before crossing her hands. "Stop playing the victim card, Alpha Klaus. You proved today that after being an Alpha, no sane man can remember anything except the power and s*x."
"Jenna," my mother screamed at her and pointed her finger toward the door of my room. "Out, right now. Mind your tongue, you spoiled brat."
"As my ex Luna commands," she bowed her head dramatically before throwing me a contemptuous glance and leaving.
I hurt my sister, too, now. She needed a loving and caring family but all we did was either fight or be behest of each other and Jenny was the one who suffered the most as she had the least power in the family.
"Klaus, honey, you can't treat your wife like this. You haven't even visited her after that day, she might get into her heat soon. You need to take care of her," my mom sat beside me and caressed my hair affectionately.
"No, mom. She can't get into her heat because I'm not her mate and I understand your sympathy towards her because you also forced yourself on dad because of your pregnancy and never got loved by your husband," I bluntly told her that the secret they kept from me for decades was not unknown to me anymore.
"Your father and I are true mates and he loves me," she almost yelled out in tears.
Yeah, I was being so ruthless with everyone and was hurting everyone so that they could feel a little amount of my suffering.
I was becoming a ruthless and merciless Alpha. In the last two days, I had already ordered my Beta to reduce everyone's wages and patrols would also be living with their families.
Now, each man from my pack would be patrolling on an altering day. My pack members needed to know how it feels to live without their mates.
"Tell me more lies, mom." I grabbed the bottle of Brandy and gulped the half bottle down straight. "Did you ever try to find your mate? Do you even know how it feels here," I pointed my finger toward my heart whilst I looked at her coldly before continuing, "to have a true mate and lose her?"
"Alphas are selfish," she let out a depressed chuckle. "How could I expect you to be different from your father?" She facepalmed herself and shook her head in disappointment while keeping a bitter smile on her face.
"Do you know how it feels not to be loved by your husband? I spent my whole life with a man who never loved me," said she coldly, looking into my eyes with hostility.
"If you would have aborted me, perhaps we both could be saved from our miseries but no, I had to be born to suffer," retorting to her, I took a large sip of my Brandy.
She also left my room without bothering to look at me.
Everyone had left me alone but I was missing my mate and my wolf. I focused on my mind-link with Todd but I got no response from him.
"She's leaving our pack and going back to her house," a female mind-link rushed into my brain and I couldn't decipher the person who was either trying to help me or trap me.
"Who are you? And how can I trust you?" I sent her the message.
"You fu-king ars-hole! I'm Sasha, the daughter of your Beta and I'm trying to help you because Scarlett needs you," she replied furiously and immediately.
I was too drunk to realize that now, I was an Alpha and all the pack members had received exclusive mind-link to me the day I sat on the throne.
Squeezing the keys to my car, I drove fast to my Beta's house and found Sasha standing outside of the house. As soon as she saw my car, she ran over to me and I parked my car in front of her house and hopped out of my car.
"That's not such an appropriate tone to talk to an Alpha but I'll forgive you because you helped me," I warned her and started running toward the house but was stopped by Sasha.
"Do you think that Helen would allow you to even see your mate for a minute after what sin you committed?" Sasha raised an eyebrow, this girl was young but smart enough to help me.
Her eyes swirled over to the stepladder and I sprinted toward that which led me to a window as I entered her room, I found her sitting on the bed with such pale skin and a hopeless face.
"What are you doing here?" She jumped in ambush and I pulled her into my arms in a tight embrace, inhaling her sweet scent which I missed a lot.
"How could you think of leaving me alone, baby?" I whispered slowly, pulling her closer to me than ever so she could feel how much I missed her and needed her.
"Ahh," she cried out in pain as I roamed my hands on her back and squeezed her in my arms.
I instantly pulled her away to take a look at her back but she stopped me by holding my hand. "It's nothing compared to what I'm feeling inside my heart."
"Who dared to touch you?" I had got that someone had harmed her and she was hiding her wounds beneath that cute ruffle top.
She sighed and smiled sarcastically before opening the zip of her top and turning reverse to let me see the bruises all over her body.
Her naked skin was both tempting me to kiss her and infuriating me to kill the person who did that to her.
"Don't taste my patience, Scarlett. Tell me, who did this to you?" I clenched my jaw and fists tightly to retrain my anger.
She zipped up her top and faced me with teary aqua-blue eyes that had fury mixed with pain. "Klaus Nelson. He fuc-ed his wife but Moon Goddess decided to punish me because I'm his mate and he betrayed my love. He marked me to give me only such scars and pain," she muttered in a cold voice as if it wasn't hurting her whilst it made me hate myself.
