The Alpha's Woman Chapter 42

His voice rang out clear, echoing throughout the building like a thunder boom, sending shivers up the spines of everyone present in there.

A sudden silence descended upon them and Maxwell was caught short of words as he had not expected that Keith would reject her as his Luna. Keith frowned as he fixed his eyes on Max. “Nobody touches my person and goes away with it. Nobody.”

Max got himself back together and felt the anger rise within him. “You reject her because of that human secretary?!”

“Well not to freight, Maxwell.” Hunter said and placed a hand over Max’s shoulder to pull him back and calm him down. He had his eyes fixed on Keith with a sinister smile played on his lips. “Anyone rejected by Keith Preston is welcomed in my pack-”

“You have no pack Hunter!” Mark was quick to interrupt. He could feel his blood boiling already and just waiting for Keith’s command to charge at them. “You go about stealing and forcefully taking!”

Hunter laughed. “Stealing? Forcefully taking? What have I stolen and what have I forcefully taken? And from who? From Keith over there? A failed alpha who couldn’t even give his sister revenge for what had happened to her?”

The rouges with him laughed and chuckled, it infuriated Keith and he fisted his palms, causing his already extended claws to tear into the flesh on his palm.

“The ones with me know better!” Hunter’s voice suddenly went up a volume and a frown etched across his brows. “They know who is the better alpha between myself and Keith and they know better who they want to lead them.”

“You were always one to talk big, Hunter.” Keith finally said. His voice was calm and he had his attention to the ground, before he lifted his gaze and stared right into Hunter’s eyes. “And you have always been conniving.”

“That is what I call smart, Keith. It is what you call conniving.”

“But you did help me in a way.” he said and dug his hands into the pockets of his pants. “Helped me identify the grains from the shaft, the loyal ones from the others, like the ones you have backing you up now.’

As he said that, his eyes moved from Hunter and fell on Max who growled and positioned himself ready to pounce. Keith chuckled.

Hunter and Maxwell together were no match for him, his wolf was more bigger and more powerful than the both of them combined so he had no fear in him, but he knew that they feared him. Even if Hunter was made Alpha of this little pack he had managed to put together, his wolf could never grown any bigger.

Keith’s wolf had been mutated, brought about by the combination of the genes of his father and mother. Their union had not exactly been forbidden but it was not exactly allowed either, but his father had been just as stubborn, just as he was being stubborn about Donna. The apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree.

“I don’t see Fabian.” Keith suddenly pointed out. “And I thought he was your second in command.”

“He doesn’t always have to hang around me, or does he Keith?” Hunter replied him in a hostile voice.

Keith half smiled. “You never can control them, that is why they are second in command Hunter. And only ever always the second.”

Hunter gritted his teeth, knowing that Keith was referring to him because he ha been second in command under Keith in the twelve order.

“A piece of advice, Hunter-”

“I didn’t ask for any.”

“Well too late because you’re getting it anyway.” Keith responded, unfazed by the way Hunter had cut him off. “You should keep him on a leash, least he should run off and start stealing from you. I hadn’t kept mine on a least but allowed him to run free and now…” he gestured his hand around the building. “…here we are.”

“We should get rid of them, Alpha.” Mark said to Keith, already too eager to get his fangs and claws stained with some rouge blood.

“Not to freight, Mark.” Keith said, picking Hunter’s words. “What ever trash gets thrown out of the twelve order, will definitely be picked and reused by dear Hunter Lane of the…” he paused and cocked his head. “Your pack has a name yet, Hunter?”

Hunter sent out a low throaty growl as he was beginning to have some trouble keeping his anger at bay. “You are not welcome here, Keith.”

“No Hunter, it goes the other way.” he said and took a step forward, Mark, Shelby and Sebastian taking stances just behind their Alpha to ready themselves to attack. “This is my city, I rule this parts and you and your rouges are not welcome here.”

“Let us drive them out.” Shelby spoke up for the first time.

“I dare you to try, child!” Maxwell growled at the younger werewolf, seemingly eager to also tear him up.

“But then, Hunter, I must say this,” Keith said casually like he was unaware of the amount of tension that had suddenly and quickly grown in the room. His face was set straight and he had the coldest expression. “You did pick a befitting name. Dump. It just rolls right off the tongue, doesn't it?”

From the group of rouges standing a distance before him, just behind Maxwell and Hunter, one picked his attention. The man was shuffling on his feet and seem to try to hide behind the others, not even daring to look at Keith’s direction.

Keith frowned and narrowed his eyes on the man, he did look familiar, almost too familiar because Keith never forgot a face that easily.

“You there, behind the others.” he called out and the rouges in front of the man shifted to the side to see whom Keith was talking to, and by so doing, they exposed the man to Keith’s full view.

His frown deepened. He had not been mistaken.

“You’re Wayne, are you not?”
