The bet that changed everything Chapter 44

/Samantha/

After a couple of hours, he pulled into my driveway. Although we hadn't spoken much, I could tell from the position of his jaw that he was still upset with Blake. Once assisting me inside, my mother and brother James rushed up to me and began hugging and kissing me immediately after they saw me. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but it appeared as though James was delighted with Henry, most likely for beating the heck out of Blake. The mother was crying, and James dragged Henry to the side. I couldn't hear what they were saying.

"Is it all right if I spend the night here once more? Even though it's not technically my night, I just wanted to check in on Samantha and make sure everything was all right "Henry stated while gazing intently at both my mother and my brother. I could see by the look on his face that even if they said no, he was going to try to get in through my window anyway, even if they did say no.

James reassuringly patted the younger man on the back and replied, "Of course, son, you may always stay here. You are aware of this." As Henry grinned at me and gave me a bear hug while kissing the top of my head, I smiled back and closed my eyes to take in the sensation of being so close to him.

I replied with a glance toward the front door, "I'm extremely weary folks, and I think I'm going to go to bed." "Henry, you should go and speak to your parents and tell them you're staying here again," I said to Henry. "I'm really exhausted."

As he walked out the door, he greeted Samantha with a grin and said, "Ok Samantha bear, I'll be back in a little while ok." I made my way upstairs, stripped off my clothing, changed into my pajamas, and made my way into the bedroom, where I fell asleep almost immediately after getting into bed.

I didn't even hear Henry come into bed the night before since I was so out of it, and when I woke up in the morning he had me wrapped in his arms, and I smiled and snuggled closer to him. I gently kissed him, and he awoke with a wistful expression on his face as he woke up to see that I had done so.

He said it as he ran his fingers down my cheek and looked at me with a serious expression on his face. "Hey, beautiful girl," he added.

"Hey, boyfriend," I said to him while giving him another kiss. I stared deeply into those stunning green eyes of his and murmured, "Thank you, Henry. I didn't realize until last night that I had never thanked you for what you had done."

He pulled me closer to him and said, "Samantha bear, there is no need for you to thank me." As he did so, I nestled back into his chest and inhaled his hypnotic scent.

I looked up at Henry and whispered, "I love you, and I'm so sorry for all of this trouble," as a tear rolled down my cheek. He quickly wiped the tear away with a kiss.

He spoke softly to Samantha with a smirk on his face and pleaded with her not to be angry, saying, "I can't stand to watch you weep." I smiled at him and wiped my face before responding. "I love you too, by the way," he murmured, touching my face once more while appearing upset.

"Henry, you're going to have to come help me out here because I'm going to go take a shower." I inquired, not with the intention of being seductive but rather to sincerely request assistance, as I knew I would be unable to adequately wash my hair using only one hand.

"Sure," he replied, climbing out of bed and helping me to my feet before tugging me by the arm and guiding me to the bathroom. When I looked in the mirror, I saw why Henry was stroking my face and making me look sad. I had a reddish purple tinge to one cheek, and while it wasn't too severe, it did make my face look sad. Unless you looked very closely, the only thing you saw was that I had a slight flush.

The entire day at school, everyone was staring at me and muttering behind their hands. I hid myself whenever it was possible, staying as still as possible in the rooms and stalls, and avoiding the passageways as much as possible. Henry was not happy about it, but there was nothing further that could be done because there was nothing else the police could do. The police called Henry at midday and informed him that they had warned Blake, but they had to let him go.

They told me that if Blake contacted me again in a threatening manner that I could get a restraining order against him, but after the mess that Henry made of his face, I didn't think that I would need to. They said that if Blake contacted me again in a threatening manner that I could get a restraining order against him.

Henry was very protective the entire day, and he'd informed his friends everything that had happened, so they were always walking with me. He'd told his pals everything that had happened. It was initially frustrating to have Daniel or Jerry follow me around like watchdogs whenever Henry wasn't present; nevertheless, I could understand why Henry was concerned, so I let it go. He didn't come out out and tell me that, but he did meet me after school and walk me out to the field where he was practicing so that I could observe him and so that he could keep an eye on me.

"So, you're not going to be quite this overprotective all the time, are you?" When I said that while putting my hands on his waist, he glanced at me in a little embarrassed manner.

He stated his ignorance by saying, "I don't know what you're talking about beautiful girl," to which I responded with a chuckle and a kiss on his cheek, "Of course you don't boyfriend."

Before racing back to his team on the opposite side of the field, he flashed me a charming smile and escorted me to the benches. Throughout the entire hour, Henry never really took his eyes off of me and was constantly scanning the area. As a result, he got into a lot of trouble with his coach and got taken out a lot by his team mates since he was too distracted to defend himself.

When the whistle blew, he immediately made his way over to me as quickly as he could while still scanning the area. I had a good laugh "You have got to refrain from doing that! After what happened yesterday, he is not going to return "I said kissing him deeply. He lifted me up, wrapped both of my legs around his body, and carried me to the girls' locker rooms at the school. To make light of the situation, I moaned, "Ew Henry, you're all sweaty and nasty."

He chuckled He then smiled sweetly at me and said, "Hmm, now say that in a more breathy voice," which was a provocative comment.

Daniel made a joke and said, "Now, now enough of that no one wants to hear you two flirting," to which I responded with laughter and a little tap on the back of the head. "Hey! Henry, keep an eye on how your girlfriend is acting "He joked while theatrically rubbing his head, which made everyone around him laugh.

Henry stayed on high alert for the remainder of the week at school, and he also managed to convince our parents to let him stay with me all week at our house. This kept him on high alert for the entirety of the week. On Friday, instead of sitting in my customary location in the bleachers with Susan, Henry made me watch the game from the front line, which was near the players entry way.

This was done so that Henry would have an easier time getting to me in the event that Blake came up. During the halftime break, I was greeted by a text message. Thinking that it was Henry texting me from the locker room, I smiled as I opened the message.

Why are you not sitting in the spot where you always do, Jailbait? I was under the impression that you had agreed to break the news to Williams that the relationship was over, but I notice that you are still wearing his shirt. Get it done right away, Samantha, and I'll catch up with you after the game.
