The Billionaire's Architect Chapter 36

Isaac Gray Holster Elizalde’s POV

“You’re here?” My brother, being so curious about my life and everything about me, asked as I was busy sipping my coffee inside the conference room. What is he even doing here? This is my space.

“Can I not be here? You’re not the only one who owns this building.”

“Well, I thought you would be flying today.” He shrugged as he sat in front of me with a long table between us. He looked at his watch as he stared outside the glass wall.

“Why do you even care about it?” I clicked my tongue. I still hate every bit of his existence.

“Well, why not just focus on your airline?”

I scoffed.

“Are you afraid that grandfather will give the company to me?”

“Why would I be afraid of you?” My brother fired back. “Should you be the one afraid of me because I might steal Deanara again?” He smirked.

I closed my fist and tried to calm myself even if I was dying to kill him.

“I won’t let that happen.”

He smiled mockingly as he clicked his tongue.

“Oh. I mean, I can’t steal her from you. But, how about Mattel?”

I glared at him and gritted my teeth. He really knew how to ruin my mood and it was always his habit to ruin me.

“She’s not like other girls.”

Ethan shrugged which made me even mad at him. How dare he compare Deanara among the girls - his girls, especially Vivian. I trust Deanara, but I don’t trust Mattel. I need to meet that guy. Damn!

“Okay.” He just shrugged and we fell into silence.

It was suffocating me, so I stood up and decided to leave the place even if it was really my space. I could never stay in one room with him now, unlike before that we used to be together everywhere we go. We used to play a lot of games, drink together, and share a lot of things about our life, crushes, and even how our day went. We both like the same things. No wonder we both like the same girls.

“Should I prepare the car for you, Sir?” My secretary asked me upon leaving the conference room.

“Yeah.” I nodded as I walked towards my office to get my things. I am already done with my work and was supposed to spend it with Deanara, but she told me she has to run errands for her mother.

I wanted to join her, but she told me she was fine. Now, I don’t know what to do. I am bored. I want to see her, so I might wait at their house and cook for her. What kind of errands does she need to do? Come to think of it, she never told me about their company. I mean, I am really curious about her family, but she never told me about it. I don’t even know what to search to at least be informed about her parents. Of course, I want to give a good impression so they would like me.

Ethan must know about it. I hate to ask, but I went back to check on him. He was already looking at his phone and glanced back upon seeing me.

“Why did you come back?”

“I want to ask something.” I coughed. Damn! I should be doing this, but I want to surprise Deanara. And, the way to do that is to be close with her parents and learn about their culture. I believe she’s adopted more of the Hispanic culture, though it’s not evident here as she was trying to blend in the country.

“Do you know the name of Deanara’s family company?”

Ethan raised his brow. “Why are you suddenly asking me that? Why not ask her?”

“Am I going to ask you if she’d tell me? She never told me anything about their business.”

Ethan chuckled a bit. “She doesn't brag about things like that.”

“I know.” I rolled my eyes. “So, you know?”

“I am in no position to tell you.”

“You’re kidding me?”

He wagged his head and I knew he was telling the truth. He was serious about not telling it to me.

“She doesn’t even know that I know. So, just wait for her to introduce you to her family.”

“What is she hiding?”

“Nothing. Just…” He sighed. “Ask her. Okay? I don’t want her to get mad at me. I love her, dude.” He bluntly said.

“What did you say?” I gritted my teeth. He’s making me mad at him.

“Chill, dude. I am joking. It’s real. I love her as a friend, so chill.”

“Don’t make me lose my respect for you.” I said before dragging the door and walking out.

I’m pissed. Ugh!

Should I call her? Okay. Chill. I shouldn’t let it get inside my mind.

“Can you research something for me?” I asked my secretary and wrote Deanara’s full name in the paper. “Look into this and tell me if you can find something. Okay?”

She nodded.

Although, I would be researching it for myself. Or should I not? I somehow felt afraid of searching because I might find something that I wouldn’t like. Ugh! This is crazy. Deanara isn’t replying to me. What is she doing?

I texted her that I will be visiting her at home. It took another minute before she replied to me telling me she won’t go home tonight without even telling me why. I had to call her.

She picked up after a minute.

“Hey, babe!” She greeted me. “What’s up?”

“Why aren’t you going home?” I curiously asked, trying not to start an argument over the phone. I might just be overthinking, but I felt something different.

“I need to run some errands for my mother. I’ll be staying at our office for a while since I need to finish it.”

“I see. Would you like me to deliver something for you? Any cravings?” I asked. I missed her even though we saw each other a few days ago. I want to see her everyday. I could marry her right now if she would say yes. But, somehow, I could feel there’s still hesitation in her. I want to be with her. I miss her every minute of every day.

“Oh. No worries. There’s food here.” She said to me.

“Miss Samaniego,” I heard a girl’s voice calling her name over the line. “The suite is already ready. Do you want to check it?”

“Yeah. I’ll be there in a minute.” She replied.

“Hey, babe! Can I call back? I have to check on something. Okay?” She immediately said. “Don’t forget to eat. Love you!” She dropped the call without even waiting for me to say a thing.

I stared blankly at my phone until my eyes got tired. What am I feeling? What is this?

After seconds of spacing out, I received a message from Vivian.

What the heck! I heaved. Why is she messaging me again?

I boredly checked it and was supposed to block her when her message caught my attention.

Vivian: Do you know where your babe is?

I replied.

Gray: What are you trying to say?

She sent an emoji and didn’t reply for a minute.

Gray: I don’t want to play around, Vivian. What is it?

I waited for a minute before she replied. I dropped my phone as soon as I saw the picture she sent.
