When Kendra finally stirred awake, she almost had a heart attack. For right beside her, Killian lay sleeping,
Naked as the day he was born!
She wanted to look away… Lord knows she really did, but for some reason, it was almost as though she was transfixed.
Believe me, you would have been too had you been in her shoes.
Killian was all muscle, plain and simple.
From his hairless chest that rose and fell with each breath he took, to his sinewy abs and biceps.
A silver necklace hung around his neck, bearing the Silvercrest family emblem, and his dark curls fell over his closed eyelids with lush eyelashes.
Gods, was he beautiful.
In her crazy, uncontrollable need to explore his body, her eyes trailed lower, and lower…
And lower.
And then she choked!
For nothing had prepared her for the painfully, erect, and yet incredibly beautiful cock that stared right back at her. Looking back at her innocently as though it didn’t know what it was doing to her… as though it didn’t know that it was the reason why her drawers were as soaked as they were.
Her coughs woke the sleeping Alpha, who was by her side in a second. “Hey, Ken… what’s wrong? Are you alright?”
“Clothes,” She coughed viciously as she kept him at arm’s length, a bright pair of blush covering her cheeks, as the memory of what was dangling between them and their close proximity played with her senses. “P-please wear some clothes,”
She averted her gaze so he could dress up, even though she managed to sneak one last glance before he fully covered up.
It didn’t help anyway, for it seemed that the image had engraved itself in her brain.
“How’s the cold? Feeling better?” She heard him say faintly.
She couldn’t speak yet and so she just nodded.
But the Alpha didn’t believe her, his gaze still keenly fixed on her. It didn’t take long for Kendra to realise that even in his calm, relaxed state, his eyes had still changed color to that of his wolf.
“Yes. I feel better, but…” She started and just trailed off. “It’s alright, forget it.”
“No, Ken… I can’t. You’re thinking about it too, aren’t you?” He asked worriedly. “My wolf is picking up something different about you. I’ve been like this since yesterday.” He insisted, gesturing towards his eyes.
“It’s probably nothing.” She tried to brush his worry off. “I’m sure it was just a small cold. You know those are rare for us werewolves, but they still do happen.” She quipped.
“Well I don’t think it’s nothing, Kendra. We don’t catch colds that easily, I think something is seriously wrong.” He pressed. “Can you feel your wolf?”
She hadn’t even thought about her wolf with all that had been happening.
Kendra tried to reach into her subconscious for her second half, but even though she found their connection, it was very faint.
“Yes, but our connection is very faint, Kill… I don’t understand, what is going on, w-what is happening to me?” She hated the fear that filled her bones, its feeling so strong that she forgot for a while that she was half naked before her mate.
“Do you think it has something to do with the cold?” She asked worriedly.
“I have no idea. But whatever it is, I really don’t think you can go on this quest of yours.”
Kendra was silent for a while, processing the whole thing when suddenly, her eyes lit up with excitement. She hurriedly made it to her feet and reached for her now dry clothes.
Killian was confused.
What was going on now?
“Kendra?”
“Can’t you see, Kill? This is some sort of approval from whichever God or Goddess that I need to go on that quest.”
She slipped her left leg into her breeches and hopped outside while simultaneously trying to fit the other leg in as well.
“You’re not making sense, Ken.” The Alpha trailed after her worriedly. “You’re losing your wolf and you think that’s a good sign?”
The female-Beta turned to face him. “Think about it, Kill. I’m going out into a human territory that detests wolves and is on a jihad of sorts to totally annihilate them.” She paused to head over to Nightshade who was neighing like crazy at the sight of her. “I think this is the best thing that could have happened to me.”
“At this point, I think you’ve lost your mind.” Killian muttered, jaw setting in conviction as his silver eyes danced in the sunlight. “I’ve changed my mind, I’m coming with you on this darned quest.”
“You will do no such thing.” She warned, her own brown eyes blazing. “We agreed, Kill. You were going your way as soon as the storm cleared…”
“Did we really?” He cut her off. “Or did I just agree to do whatever Princess Kendra wanted?”
“Don’t call me that.”
“Yes, your highness… I’m very sorry. It won’t happen again,” The Alpha taunted.
“You know, you have some nerve accusing me of this, when you have overlooked my role as your Beta many times and gone over my head when it came certain issues.”
“Now you know that isn’t true, Kendra.”
“Oh, isn’t it?” Now it was her turn to taunt him. “You attacked the Riverdale Pack that last time without consulting me.”
“Oh, for fuck’s sake,” Killian rolled his eyes, “Tyrone had it coming… and you were just going to defend him because you like him. That bastard.” He growled angrily. “I don’t even know what you see in him.”
“Jealousy is so not a good look on you.” She threw at him, not even bothering to hide her disappointment.
“How about you tell that to my wolf instead?” He threw right back.
“That reminds me. What about your renouncing ceremony?” Kendra asked. “You didn’t think me important enough as your Beta to tell me about it?”
“That’s because I knew you were going to talk me out if it, and I couldn’t have that, especially when you were so undecided about being with me!”
She shook her head. “You have no respect for me, Kill. I’m sorry, but that’s the truth. We have become so complacent with one another for so long that I failed to see it… but I see it now.”
Killian had never been so confused in his life.
Where exactly was this coming from?
They stood there glaring at each other, wondering who was going to break the tensious silence.
Killian did first.
“I just don’t understand how now, we can barely have a normal conversation without lashing out at each other.” He said.
“Well, it’s not exactly rocket science, is it?” The dark skinned she-wolf retorted bitterly. Walking away from him, she threw over her shoulder. “Whatever you do, just make sure you stay out of my way or else we’re going to have a problem.”
Killian stared at her retreating form, wanting to just grab her and make a dash for it.
Talking about how they were going to have a problem.
Like hell they were.
