I stared at her from across the room, and from the look in her face she despised me. But I feel something else. Something I 've vow never to feel again. Some powerful undercurrent of attraction, compelling and electrifying forced that tugged her to meet my gaze as I slowly moved towards her across the dimly lit room. I finally stood before her. Inches away. She stare up at me , checking me out, I know, that didn't bother me, because I know the power I have over women. And she will not be exceptional.
"Go ahead. Just try to deny it." I challenge her. Fighting the urge to kiss her inviting lip right there.
"Deny what?" She asked, genenuinely confused. I saw how her thoughts had wondered. I know she too was attracted to me the way I do to her. My nearness had totally distracted her.
"Deny that you plan to marry my brother," I insisted. "Tomorrow, in fact , at the first church."
"I have no intention now, nor have I ever wished to marry your brother," she answered honestly.
I no exactly what my investigator told me, the marriage is to hold tomorrow. But her honest express got me confused, I will allow her beautiful look to got into my system. Even though I can't deny the urge any longer I manage to remind myself my reason of being here .
"Don't lie to me," I replied in a low, threatening tone. I moved even closer and she tipped her head back to look up at me.
I know," she said, interrupting. I've been
warned. You can't stand pretense-especially from a ,"female."
Of course I remember my first warning to her, pretense is what I can't take from anyone especially women. I didn't say anything. Just continued to stare down at her, unable to fathom my feelings, my desires at the moment. But those pink full lips making me to think otherwise. I gripped her upper arms, holding firmly, I sense the way she react under my touche, the effect I have on her, she try all her best to keep it on a low key though she didn't show any sing of being scared of me.
"I can't see you with my brother, I said in a low, intimate tone that made her heartbeat race
"You're not his type. Not at all."
"Oh, really? She replied, vaguely amused. "Am I too tall do you think? Too...brash?"
"You're a handful. The kind who needs a stronger man than my brother at the helm, I'll tell you that much."
"But we've only met, what...? Ten minutes ago?
How could you have any idea what type I am?"
She insisted.
"Oh, but I do," I assured her in a deep, quiet voice. "I know all about you, Olivia Christopher. All I need to know. Believe me," I promised her as pulled her imperceptibly closer taking her unaware. she was suddenly conscious of my nearness, the heat of my body, am sure it awaken unbearable desire from her. Making her weak and my prey to devoured. She couldn't hold my gaze any longer and suddenly looked away. She felt in over her head. Way over her head.
"Are you blushing? I cupped her chin in my hand and turned her face back toward me so that she had no choice but to look at me. "Hmm, you are. How charming," I said sweetly.
"Didn't take you for the blushing type. Or is this some further performance? Hoping to find my sympathetic side?"
"Your...sympathetic side? she stammered.
"You sound surprised. Don't you think I have one?"
Don't be ridiculous." Once again, she tried to pull away from my grasp, but I held her firmly, forcing her to look directly into my eyes. My face was so close to hers, barely a breath away, and as my gaze dropped down to her mouth, I know I can't hold on anymore, I must kiss these tempting lips now.
"Ridiculous...yes, of course," I murmured in a husky tone, still staring hungrily down at her lips. "I assure you, Ms. Christopher, I'm trying very hard not to be...." I dipped down my head toward hers, and my hand lifted her chin. I pray she didn't pull away or make some forceful protest, but all she could do was lift her hands and press them again my chest.
The sensation of her warm palm under my firm muscles run down to my lower region . Making it impossible for me to let go. I watched her as she sighed and closed her eyes-as much a sign of pure frustration with herself as a sign of her surrender. It was all the encouragement I needed, and in a heartbeat I pulled her into my hard embrace, covered her mouth by the seeking seductive touch of my lips.
Opening her mouth with my lips, I drank form her sweetness, drawing her more closer to my body, kissing her more deeply. I feel her arms move up to circle my shoulders. Her fingertips toying with the thick, damp strands of my hair. Her movement encouraged me to glided my mouth over her, coaxing, tasting and tasting untill she couldn't help but respond. I hard her moaned quietly and the small sound inspired me with a new surge of ardor.
"Mommy?". I heard a small voice sounded form the top of the stairs.
"Noah. He'd woken up" she whispered
"Who's Noah?, I asked
"My son ," she said as sprang away from my hold as if she'd been stuck by a cattle prod. She ran over to her son as she guide him back to his room.
Damn! I swung around as I course under my breath, I 've never lost control over any woman like this before. What had come over me. Her beauty. Damn! She's very beautiful, any man that have blood run in his vain will do the same. She was saved, by the little boy, her son she claimed. I think something isn't right here. I sense something fishy, she really had a lot to explain. I shoved my hand deep in my pockets and I turned to face the window. When she entered the living room, I turned to look at her with a bland, distant expression, and it was as if our intimate encounter had never happened. I don't want to talk about it, I decided to ask about her son instead.
"Is your boy all right?" I asked politely.
"He's fine," she said
"I'm sorry I woke him. I hope he wasn't scared, hearing a strange voice in the house in the middle of night," my concern for the little boy was genuine, even though I still need some clarification .
"I explained that your car got stuck on the road and you walked here for help. He said he didn't think you'd be able to get a ride back to town onight. "
"From the looks of your town.I suspect he's right. If I'd sneezed while driving down Main Street, I might have missed it."
"It's not quite that dinky, she protested "But Sweetwater doesn't have a twenty-four-hour taxi service. We don't have any taxi service at all actually," she admitted.
"And I suppose that, even if I could find a ride somehow, there probably aren't any motels around here, are there?"
"Sure, there's a motel, she replied agreeably . "The E-Z Rest. About thirty-five miles north on Route 6. The truckers seem to like it."
"I might have guessed, he replied in a grim, resigned tone. I sighed and rubbed my eyes. "Well maybe you could kindly lend me an umbrella, then It looks as if it s still raining a bit, and I do have a rather long walk back to my car."
"Your car? I thought you said your car wasn't working."
"That's correct. And the rental agency can't get a replacement out here until sonmetime late tomorrow. And that's only if the rain stops."
"Well then, why, may I ask, are going back out to your car? It you've left any valuables there, you needn't worry. This area may be a backwater, but we are just about crime free."
