I have been watching over Ms. Rieka Hart for almost a year now. I knew at some point we would officially meet, I never thought it would happen like that though.
I'm grateful I was there though, if I hadn't been then she would be dead. Even if she is a "Gemstone Wolf" her wolf hasn't come to the surface yet and she would've been completely defenseless against those rogues.
Relief fills my body knowing that she's safe. We need her. All this time I've been watching her, I’ve been eager for her to take the throne. I’m not a fan of Alpha King Carter and Luna Queen Camille, they seem too lost in their grieve of being unable to have the family life that they wanted that they are unable to perform their duties properly.
Due to this, the supernatural world has suffered. Everyone is worried as time goes on because most believe that Rieka was assassinated, and once the Alpha King and Luna Queen fell then what would happen with all of us? They are the ones to help keep peace and it’s been that way for generations.
Without the Alpha King and Luna Queen, many problems would arise. Whether it was feuding between different species or the hunters that are after all of our kinds... without an Alpha King and Luna Queen to help direct us, things would go downhill fast.
I’ve seen many Alpha King’s and Luna Queen’s in my lifetime. Most are actually good at what they’re supposed to do, and at the beginning of their reign, Carter and Camille did a good job. Then they started trying to have an heir.
I don’t know all of the details of their private lives, but I know they struggled to conceive which was unheard of if you were a werewolf. They faced adversity with people accusing them of not being true mates. So, on top of their private issues, they were now dealing with an unruly pack. When they finally had Rieka, the joy on their faces was obvious.
People rejoiced when they saw her purple eyes, everyone assumed she was an Amethyst Wolf and the last Amethyst Wolf had been a healer and helped thousands. As she got older, word spread, she wasn’t an Amethyst Wolf. No, an Amethyst’s wolf’s eyes don’t get darker when they’re upset and lighter when they’re happy.
No one knew what she was, no Gemstone Wolf has ever had this kind of reaction with their eyes. This made the people fearful, and fear makes you do crazy things.
There were multiple attempts to kill Rieka when she was a toddler. Her parents faked her death and sent her away with a couple they trusted. Her parents have been severely depressed ever since and although they try to help and do their duties, most are done half-heartedly.
Supernatural hunters are attacking, now there are two different kinds of hunters. One kind hunt to kill and make you go extinct, the other kind hunts to trap you and make money from you by putting you on the supernatural black market.
Both kinds of hunters are running rampant right now. Both kinds are after my people. Vampires used to be on the same level as werewolves, we were one of the most populated supernatural creatures. Not anymore.
In the 16 years that Rieka has been sent away and her parents were put in charge we went from having at least a million vampires running around the world to less than five thousand. We came to Alpha King Carter and Luna Queen Camille and begged for their help, they agreed on the condition that someone helped guard their daughter. They only revealed this to my parents in order to keep people from going after her.
My parents are kind of like the rulers of the vampire world. We don’t have titles like ‘King’ and ‘Queen’ but my parents have the purest lineage and everyone looks to them for guidance. They assigned me to look after her, they’ve been concerned for my safety due to the hunters and knew that wherever Rieka was located must be safe considering no one knows that she is alive.
They weren’t wrong, it’s been a year of me watching her and this was the first time I had to intervene.
She’s an interesting girl. She is the leader that I believe the supernatural world needs.
She’s smart, she stands up for those that need it, she’s loyal, she’s strong, she's confident, she's charismatic, she believes in herself, I could go on and on about her and what I've seen. She has so many good qualities and all of this is on top of her being stunningly beautiful.
Yes, she is actually what we need. She may have troubles because people are set in their ways, she may not be what the people want, but she is truly what we need.
I’ve only seen her true eye color once, but it was the most captivating thing I’ve ever seen.
I can’t talk to her until she is back home. It’s too risky to do here and I don’t need this boy she’s hanging out with to find me. He’s an Alpha, and he would not appreciate my presence.
He’s also infatuated with her. It’s interesting, whenever he’s around her it’s like she is the only thing, he’s focused on, but she doesn’t seem to reciprocate that.
She likes him, I’ve heard her say that, but she doesn’t seem like she’s that into him.
I watch as she walks with him towards the packhouse, he’s asking her a thousand questions. She murmurs her answers, but she seems distracted. Before she walks inside, she looks back towards the woods where I’m hidden.
Is she looking for me?
Could she be as fascinated by me as I am by her?
