I was surprised to find Rebecca, Clary and Madison thrown in
my bed, raised an eyebrow.
How did you get in here? I asked when I remembered locking the door.
—I’m a witch, Hayley dear—Madison smiled sarcastically at
me.
—I still want privacy—I grumbled as I rolled my eyes and tried to go to the
closet, to avoid the inconvenient questions I knew that
would appear in a few seconds, but an invisible barrier prevented me
to take another step forward.
I frown as I turn and find the witch with her hand held high, her
dark hair was stuck in a bun on top of her head, and
there was a malicious gleam in her grey blue eyes.
—You won’t run away from us—she said, a mischievous smile appeared in
your lips.
I crossed my arms as I leaned against the wall.
—What do you want? —I asked bored, wanted to get rid of those
as soon as possible.
—What happened? —Clary asked again. —And don’t think about talking
that nothing happened, we know that it was not Dianna who left the
Alpha male all scratched up.
I bit my lower lip, lowering my gaze to the rug near the bed,
a slight flushing spread across my cheeks, that subject was
delicate to talk openly.
—It was your wolves, wasn’t it?—Becca asked with caution, I raised my gaze and
I confirmed with my head, still hesitant.
—Your wolves are already very close—commented Madison, he seemed surprised.
I know—sighed by throwing the towel in an armchair.
—Hayley, this is getting out of control—Becca warned me, she knew
of the risks we took.
—They were catching up in the woods, not planning a war
Atomic—Clary scolded, rolling her eyes furiously.
Becky made a face at the fox.
—Is the bond of fellowship between the Pure? I hear the bond is
powerful and intense—said Madison and I smiled sideways.
—I never felt anything like that—I murmured.
—How does this tie work? —Clary asked, her brow slightly furrowed.
—You know that every wolf has a soul mate, right? But the
connection between two Pures is something more special—Becca started talking,
I went into the closet to get dressed.
—Some already discover the bond as soon as they see for the first time, I’ve seen
some cases like that—said Madison.
—But with the Pure the connection is different, because of an old
curse cast on the lineage. The only way to fit the bond between
the two wolves is on a Blood Moon night, is performed a rite of
unification, forming an unbreakable bond between two souls
destined by the moon.
—How...a mating ceremony? —Clary asked softly.
—Mating is like a marriage for humans, it’s the night that
we join our lives to those of our partners—declared my sister—in—law.
—What happens if one of the partners dies or the bond is broken? —
your question made my skin crawl.
—They say it’s like losing a part of your soul, living only with
met from your heart and with a tearing pain that has no end—
replied Rebecca hoarse. —There were few cases where the connection was
broken, the wolves know the importance of the loop, would not break it
easily.
—Black magic is able to break the link between two wolves—revealed
Madison, a chill ran down my spine.
Didn’t know much about the practice of that dark act, but black magic
was a dangerous way to go, an evil force that
destroyed you from within. I had the displeasure of finding one
black wizard once in my life and still had nightmares about
him.
—Are you and Jackson mates? —Was the question Clary asked me
when I came out of the closet.
I moistened my dry lips, shrugged.
—I don’t know—I was sincere with my words. —My wolf can’t
recognize you, probably one of the effects of the spell put on me
to camouflage my true essence.
Kitsune had the book of my lineage in her hands, Rebecca stared at the ceiling, lying on my bed and Madison moved my dressing table.
—Can I fix your hair? —The witch asked with a smile
exciting on the lips.
—They’re a mess—let out a giggle as I approach her and
sit before the dressing table.
—I missed other women in the house—commented picking up a brush.
—Here is always full of dominant males, and females are not
great fun.
I shuddered when Madison started combing my hair
softly, her touch was light and delicate. I almost snored, and faced the
witch in the mirror.
Madison was young, she was eighteen, but she squandered a force and
impressive sweetness. His parents had been killed in rebellion and
Jack took care of her ever since, treated her like brothers, implied
each other, but the love between them was clear, so with Aiden and
me.
The little witch was daring, had already seen her face Isaac, one of the
Jack and even Oliver. Did not bow his head to those males, and always
Kept me company, liked to talk and comb my hair.
—Did you see Dianna’s face? —Clary laughed out loud, she didn’t even have
noticed the wolf when I returned to the house.
—She blushed with rage—added Madison as she giggled. —
Realized that my brother’s heart already has a mistress blinked for
me through the mirror. I ran my hands through the dark jeans, squeezed my lips with
that doubt hammering into my mind.
Would Jackson be able to love me? A wolf so wild,
uncontrolled and impulsive? And with so much blood on your hands?
—Your room is so beautiful, one of the best in the house—commented Madison.
It belonged to his late mother.
My stomach turned with that information. Jack had me
granted the room that belonged to his mother? The deceased female
Supreme?
—Didn’t the old Ultimates share a room? —asked Becca
frown.
Madison let out a deep breath.
—I don’t know the details of how the Alphas were related, but yes, they
had separate rooms. The late Supreme liked to preserve
your privacy and stay alone most nights.
They were partners, soul mates and slept in rooms
separated? Did they have separate lives?
I tied my fingers over my thighs, thoughtful.
That was not a relationship I had imagined between comrades,
something so distant and cold. I remembered the little details that Jack
had granted me from his past, the relationship of his parents was
lousy.
—Jack burned your father’s room—revealed Madison and I rented the
eyes. —It was one of the first things he did when he assumed supremacy.
I swallowed hard, squeezing my lips.
—And he’s been building one for about a year—she continued. —Jack spends
a lot of time and money to decorate the room, says it wants to transform
it in a safe harbor, a place of peace and rest.
—But doesn’t he already have a room? —I raised an eyebrow in confusion.
Madison’s smile was radiant.
—Jack told me he built that room for him and his mate—
I arched my back. That’s why you’ve worked so hard on him the past few months.
My gaze found Rebecca’s through the mirror, my sister—in—law
squeezed her lips and narrowed her eyes slightly towards me, but
said nothing.
My foolish heart beat hard with those simple words. Jack
had built a room for both of us, he didn’t want that
we had a distant relationship or separate lives as their parents.
And that feeling growing inside me gained more strength.
I let out a low grunt in remembering that I would stay the whole trip with
Jackson, alone. How could that male resist?
Jack was a tempting piece of bad road and too dangerous for
my self—control.
I licked my lips to see the training in the arena near the house, there were
few females, only five in total and several males, but Kimberly and
two Nannies were following the training closely. The redhead was
skillful and agile, smiles discreetly as she starts a discussion
fierce with one of the arrogant males, the wolf would not lower the
head.
"She’d make a great Alpha for the nannies."
My wolf pondered, needed to agree with her.
One of my wishes would be to train the females personally,
teach them everything they had learned, but knew
that existed
dozens of other packs that needed that change. The
training with females in Jack’s pack was the beginning of a
great revolution and we plan to expand into the Colorado pack,
we would leave in a few minutes and knew we had a big
responsibility in my hands to convince Mark’s pack to
allow the females to fight.
But if I could convince Jack’s men, the wolves more
dominant and strong of our people, would not fail, had made a
promise and would fulfill it.
—The Nannies are doing a good job—jumped out of fright at hearing the voice
from Jackson, I turned around and found him standing by the door, wearing a more comfortable and less formal outfit, jeans and a button—down shirt
dark.
"I hate the way this male attracts us."
—Kimberly is good—commented softly, crossing his arms before the
window.
—The cars are ready to go—I nodded. —And you, are
prepared?
I swallowed hard, I knew what he was talking about.
Having contact with so many strangers still made me nervous and
tense, being in the middle of a new pack full of males and females
that I didn’t know made my heart beat hard, but Jack would be
with me, and his presence could calm me down.
—I think so—I answered almost in a whisper, I put my phone in the
back pocket of jeans.
—Aiden is waiting—informed. —Go ahead, I’ll take your things.
I waved in thanks, keeping my eyes off yours and
walked quickly out of the room. I did not look at him to see his
reaction, just took a deep breath and pressed my father’s necklace against my
breast.
Practically ran up to my brother, hugging him tight and being
returned with the same strength.
—No comment, please—asked softly, supporting my head in
your chest. —I have no right to meddle in your life, sister, you are already
big enough to make your own decisions—breathed relieved.
—Just be careful, okay?
