The Mermaids Chapter 16

Mother Teresa arrived at the Royal Caribbean palace in a stagecoach, accompanied by four bodyguards. She was there to visit her son for a special purpose.

The maid comes with a rush to Lord Courtney’s room and knocked on the door. Twice knocks but there’s no response. On the third try, Lord Courtney opened the door with a look of annoyance on his face. Unaware of the woman in the bed, the maid accidentally caught a glimpse of her lying naked. Embarrassed, the maid quickly looked away and apologized for her intrusion.

“What’s going on?”

“My apology, Your Majesty. Mother Terresa is here.”

Upon hearing the arrival of his mother, Lord Courtney quickly kicked out the woman of his room without hesitation. He hurriedly composed himself and proceeded to the main hall of the palace to greet his mother. After ready, he went to the hall upset.

“Mom, why you don’t let me know first if you want to come here?”

Mother Teressa stood up and looked at her son angrily, “Is this how you welcome me, Stephanus? You prefer the name your father gave you, don't you?"

Lord Courtney silently and try to keep calm himself, “Oh, don’t call me by that name!”

“Why? I give you the name and you discard it!”

"Here's again." Lord Courtney snorted and if he didn't relent there would be an argument, "Alright, Mom. I'm sorry. How are you?”

“I am fine. How about you?”

“Yeah, like you see. I am good.”

“I need to talk to you.”

Lord Courtney looks around and sees there are several guards in here.

“Come to my room.”

They are walking away from the hall to Lord Courtney's working room. Lord Courtney sat on a chair while his mother chose to stand facing the window.

"Oh, I miss the views in this place," he said, looking at the deserted beach.

Lord Courtney nodded "Yes, it has been three years since his death."

"That's right. And I hope you haven't forgotten your promise to me to get rid of your stepmother and take everything that your late father had."

"Mom, we've discussed this before. I hope you can more patient!"

Mother Teressa turned around and stared at her son, “Until when are you telling me to be patient, asshole?! Just get rid of old women like her you can't. How much more time do you need? Until I rush to death!”

“You have no idea what it's like to swallow that woman's cruelty. He even ruthlessly cut off almost all of the portion that I was supposed to receive every month from your father!” Mother Teressa started crying.

Lord Courtney was silent in response to her mother's boasting. He knew very well that Madame Cladiss had only cut 40% of what was supposed to be. But not her mother's name if she doesn't exaggerate everything just to seek sympathy and justification. As a result of this deduction, Lord Courtney had to take part and give a sum of money deducted by Madame Cladiss to her mother who was used to living in luxury.

Mother Teressa was the concubine of Sir Alejandro, Lord Courtney's biological father. She was far more beautiful than Madame Cladiss, Sir Alejandro's lawful wife. Even though she is almost 65 years old, her beauty seems timeless. Until various bad rumors emerged about her, that Mother Teressa performed a ritual and allied with Lyathern - Queen Ruler of the Dark Forest - to get eternal beauty.

Sir Alejandro did not and Madame Cladiss had no children, that's why Sir Alejandro chose to adopt Mother Teressa as a concubine and Lord Courtney was born.

Three years ago Sir Alejandro died and left him a very large fortune. Unfortunately, that wealth could only be enjoyed by Madame Cladiss and Lord Courtney. Whereas Mother Teressa will only get part of what Madam Cladiss gives. He could not demand more than that because his marriage was not recorded in law.

“I will be doing what you want.”

Mother Teressa wiped away her fake tears and smiled, "You are my best son. Okay, I need to go right now. Make sure you're running your plan as soon as possible.”

He walked towards the door but suddenly turned around.

"Oh, I didn't see the Commodore. Where is he?” asked Mother Teressa with a smile.

Commodore Morgan set sail on the Marquese Caribbean ship in search of Ashley's kingdom in the northwest Pacific Ocean. Will was uncertain of where to look, but Commodore Morgan had been studying and researching the mermaid kingdom for a long time and was confident that they were heading in the right direction. As they sailed, they kept an eye out for any signs of land or any other indications of their location. Eventually, after days at sea, they finally spotted what appeared to be an island up ahead. Excitedly, they increased their speed and drew closer, eager to find Ashley's kingdom.

“Mr. Gultom, turunkan jangkar.”

“Aye, sir. Hey, Rock, turunkan jangkarnya!” teriak Mr. Gultom.

A large man with dark skin quickly began to lower the anchor, aided by three of his crew members. With a satisfying clank, the anchor met the ocean floor and they all breathed a sigh of relief.

"Do we already arrived at the destinations, Sir?"

"I think so," Commodore replied, looking at the map in his hand. He scanned the waters ahead and nodded with satisfaction. "Yes, I believe we have reached our destination."

The Commodore turned around and said to Mr. Gultom, "Get William down in the canoe and leave him here. Turn off all the boat's lights and let's monitor him from a distance. I want the mermaids to come back and save William without any disturbance."

“Aye, Sir!”

Mr. Gultom immediately ordered Parker and Wesley to bring William to the stern of the ship. He then proceeded to shut off all the lights on the boat, creating a peaceful darkness that would make it easier for the mermaids to come and rescue William without any disruptions.

Parker and Wesley entered the ship's brig, where they found William fast asleep on the cold metal floor. The bread and bacon that the Commodore had thrown earlier still lay scattered on the floor, clearly untouched by William. It seemed like the boy had been too despondent to eat.

"Wake up you asshole!" Parker shouted, kicking William in the stomach. He and Wesley shared a laugh as they grabbed William's arms and dragged him out of the brig. They brought him to the stern of the ship, ready to set him free into the open waters.

When they reached the stern, a canoe was waiting for William. Mr. Gultom stood beside him with a lantern, as the Commodore had believed that its light would be enough to catch the attention of the mermaids.

They put William on the canoe and hoisted him up using two pulleys, one attached to the front and one attached to the back. He was alone in the canoe, but for the lantern positioned at his feet. Nothing else was brought by him.

Just as William's canoe touched the surface of the sea, an earthquake suddenly shook their ship. Everyone on board was thrown into a panic, including William.
