I slowly walked towards the door, after noise wake me up from my sleep, and opened it, the noises outside were getting louder and louder. I couldn't make out what they were saying until I got closer.
I heard a man's voice shouting at Derick, accusing him of bringing me to his house, knowing that I belonged to their biggest rival pack before. The man went on to say that Mia, don't deserve to be banished because what she did was no different from what their Alpha was doing at the moment. Derick was trying to calm the man down, but it seemed like it was not working.
I continued to listen to their conversation until the man said they had lost one of their members who was killed by the people I was related to, and that the blood was on Derick's hand. He then went on to say that Derick did not deserve to be their Alpha. Derick, with anger, slapped the man and told him he was still their Alpha and that I was just a woman he was using.
Suddenly, my eyes shot open, and I got up slowly, walked up to them, and turned to Derick. I asked him to repeat what he said, and I could feel the anger boiling in Lucas's eyes. He told me to leave immediately because I was not welcome there. Derick shouted Lucas's name and told him to be quiet. Derick offered to drive me home since his members were not cool seeing me there, but I declined.
As I walked out of the mansion, Derick ran after me and held my wrist to stop me. Suddenly, it started raining heavily, and I jerked my hand off Derick's grip and told him to stay away from me because I thought he had changed, not knowing that he was just pretending. Derick drew me closer and kissed me deeply out of nowhere, under the rain, but I pushed him away and slapped him before walking off crying.
"Why did you do that, Derick?" I cried out.
"I'm sorry, Sophia. I didn't mean to hurt you," Derick replied.
"I trusted you, and you used me," I said.
"I know, and I'm sorry. Please forgive me," Derick pleaded.
"I can't forgive you, Derick. I don't know what to do anymore. I only came for you to help me about parents, and find out who took and killed them," I said.
"I promise to make it up to you, Sophia. Just give me a chance. Remember we had a deal that you'll work for me," Derick said.
"I don't know if I can continue working with you, Derick," I said, wiping my tears away. "I shouldn't have trusted the person that first treated me like a trash!"
"Don't say that Sophia, we're team!"
"We aren't! Because a rejected wolf, don't have place among the other werewolves, not to talk of working for an Alpha of a pack!" I said, frowning my face.
Derick looked at me with sad eyes and said, "I understand. I'll leave you alone now. Take care of yourself."
I watched as Derick walked back to his mansion, and I also turned to leave the vicinity.
**************
Mia was sitting inside her car, scrolling through her phone when she got a text message from one of her informants. The message read, "Alpha Derick brought Sophia to his mansion and defended her against us. He's going against the plans." Mia's anger boiled inside her, and she hit her steering wheel, frustrated that Derick had gone against their plan.
"This isn't what we planned, Derick," she muttered to herself. They plan to teamed up and use me as a pawn in their game against Alpha Blake, who they held responsible for the destruction of their pack. But now, Derick's actions were unpredictable and out of line.
She grabbed a small card from her car's glove compartment and dialed the number on it. The person on the other end picked up, and Mia requested to meet with the person. After hanging up, Mia started her car and drove off to a nearby parking lot.
As she pulled up, she saw Blake leaning against his car, Mia got out of her car and walked over to him.
"Finally ready to consider my offer, Mia?" Blake asked with a smirk.
Mia nodded, her face set in determination. "I am. But you need to assure me that I'll always be safe."
Blake let out a deep chuckle. "Don't worry, Mia. You'll be safer with me than with anyone else."
Mia couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over her. She knew Blake was dangerous, but at least he was upfront about it. "So, what's next?"
Blake's smirk widened. "The devilish Night Walker pack is about to unveil." Both of them smile at each other.
*************
As soon as I got home, with all my body, dripping out water. I didn't even bother to turn on the lights in my room. I just wanted to be alone with my thoughts. I walked over to my bed and sat down, staring blankly at the wall in front of me.
But the pain in my heart was too much to bear. I knew I needed to let it out somehow. So, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, focusing all my energy on shifting into my wolf form.
Within seconds, my human body was replaced by that of a sleek, gray wolf. I let out a howl that echoed through the empty house, and I felt a sense of relief wash over me.
As a wolf, I felt free. Free from the weight of my human emotions and the constant turmoil inside me. I climbed onto my bed and curled up in a ball, closing my eyes and letting the peace of the moment wash over me.
Eventually, I drifted off to sleep, my wolf form still curled up on my bed. It was the first peaceful sleep I had had in weeks, and I knew that I needed to do this more often to keep my sanity.
When I woke up the next morning, the sun was shining through my window, and I realized that I had spent the entire night as a wolf. I shifted back into my human form and stretched my limbs, feeling refreshed and renewed.
