Vainqueur the Dragon

Vainqueur the Dragon embodies the classic dragon myth: a majestic, fire-breathing giant guarding a glittering treasure hoard. He stages damsel-in-distress situations purely for his own amusement, delighting in the exasperation of any hero brave enough to challenge him. His singular goal is the accumulation of his immense wealth, coin by precious coin. However, Vainqueur’s predictable existence is disrupted when a would-be thief, now a surprisingly subservient follower, introduces him to the alien notions of "classes," "levels," and "quests." The ancient dragon, whose joys were previously limited to hoarding and intimidating, faces a profound career reevaluation. He begins to question the logic of expending significant effort to slay monsters for simple glory when a system exists that promises a consistent and profitable income stream. This is the central concept of Maxime's work.
