Before Aiden Alpha walked through the gate with hIs men, Emmaus had been imprisoned. They came in four SUVs raving into the streets with deafening noise. Sam appeared down the alley with ten other men and five women holding M5s, hoping to end Alpha and his pack for once.
Guero's fortress had been a place of lots of chance wars, protests, retaliation attacks, and sometimes reconciliation. Now that he's gone, the firing will be mild because his sniper ran off with Elvira.
She had challenged him about Smallsvile's renewable energy commission. That day he was to send his men to collect it from Alpha's pack before they went to the chalet in Third Alley. His grandma lived there and had a pumpkin farm. She's the only family left for Alpha. His parents died in an accident when he was six. She cared for him until he joined a pack.
Alpha spent the money on guns from a black market in Figma P through his contact in Laguna. They destroyed Elvira's farm where she planted cannabis on a farm belonging to his grandma.
"She'd been such a bully and now I'll show her what I'm made off," Alpha said as they walked into the compound. The sphinx cat in the barn scurried into a nearby hole in the pen. She stayed there looking out to see if Guero will be coming back home. She misses him. A door opens from the double door in the stable close to the left-wing of the house, Damien aimed at it but nothing moved. He smiled.
"It's the breeze getting ready for us."
"Elvira will bow to me now. I promised her that before."
"And you love her." Damien teased.
"You should keep quiet before I blast your head off."
"But it's the truth. You've been smitten by her."
"Keep quiet. Guys surround the building. Shot at any moving thing."
Catherine wasn't quite sure, but most of the guns should be in the bunker. She scoured for the keys in the drawers but found none. That moment she encountered much more heat than was expecting and her face flushed with fear even though she knew he might not do anything to her other than wanting to take over from her.
They got near to the door and in a few seconds, they'll get to where she was. She had lost her pistol while fleeing home or she left it in that cab.
They entered.
Four men were stationed outside. Two on the first floor and five went with Alpha and Damian to the office.
"I don't want to hear anything about love again, Damien. Let's do a clean job."
"You sound political."
"Whatever. Guys move in."
Catherine passed a file under the table. She opened it and gasped then swung to see clearly with the sunlight coming from the window. Then she saw Sam and the other guys coming behind him. They opened fire on Alpha's men, she hide under the table hoping they'll soon come through for her.
The firing continued. Alpha went back down with his men. He pokes his head out of the door directing his men to move into position. Damien was left to bring back Elvira if she was inside.
The firing continued. Sam docked beside the cat who recognized him. The five ladies took cover too. One of them had been shot in her side.
"Hold her down, John. Help Amanda."
Being confronted with guns pieces Alpha off and he thought he needed to deal with Sam and his men.
Catherine daintily stared at the note in the file. She wanted to make sure it had the sign on the van and the scribbling she saw but it wasn't. She averted her eyes and found a dagger behind her. Damien is closer to the table now and he could sense her.
She grabbed the dagger Wide-eyed, hoping she'll not be dead before using it on whoever is coming for her. Damien rubbed his hands on the table then said before docking as a bullet flew through the window shattering panes into splinters.
"You don't have to come out, Elvira. I know you're there."
One of the splintered glass cut through his right hand. He held it tightly and rushed towards the chair to grab a towel. He snorted.
"Don't come out. Ah!"
He yanked out the splinter and threw it back at the window. It dropped slowly and directly on Alpha's hand. He yelled, "I'm coming, Damien. Hold on!"
"No, you have to stay down there. I think a sniper aims at me."
"I'm coming."
"Don't, Aiden. Don't."
Sam stationed the sniper knowing they'll get to the window. He knows they'll hardly stand a chance of winning that way when their leader is in his nest.
Damien shouted. "I'll ask you to tell our men to stop. They have me." He smiled. "Or you want your friend to die? And your mate is right here."
Catherine's eyes narrowed in a scowl. It never occurred to her he sees her as a mate. She knew that that means a lot to the werewolves. Is he a werewolf?
She came out from under the table knowing she has a higher chance of winning. It's apparent Sam's men have killed them all and now have the Beta under a sniper's watch. Alpha stumbled in.
"Please don't have my friend killed. Please, Elvira."
"No." She yelled with confidence. "You have to pay for what you've done. And who will deal with someone as arrogant as you.?"
"Please. I have stopped my men."
"No, you are in my territory and deserve to die."
"Please."
The sniper pointed a placard at Damien asking him not to move nor say anything.
"Goodness," she said. "You killed my father after you put him in a coma."
"What! I didn't kill him."
"You did." She swung around revealing her hard face. "Do you want to die?"
"Please, Elvira. This won't happen again and I didn't kill him. I gave you my word."
"Then who did?"
"I don't know. Perhaps one of his old enemies came back."
The sniper shot Damien and the bullet ran through his left humorous breaking his bones into cards. He shouted and Alpha rushed to him slowly grabbing him before he fell.
"Love is strange," Damien said as his eyes close. "Aiden, don't stop loving her. She's here before you, sorry, tell her."
Alpha started crying not knowing what to do or controlling his emotion. For someone that hardly cries, he glanced at himself holding Damien in his blood and crying.
Catherine rushed downstairs, she had seen a first aid box close to the store. She pushed through its contents hoping to see something to save his life. HE opened his eyes again, they dilated and he smiled.
"Take me to the hospital, man, or I'll die here."
Alpha quickly called his driver. She was speechless when he said he might as well be dead now. She said grudgingly, "You son a bitch hasn't figured out what to do. Do you want Friend to die here?" I have refused to see that happen. Have this."
She gave him a rope and some bandages to stop the bleeding before they could get to the hospital.
"You're allowing your emotions to get in your way. You need to tie him up faster."
Awestruck, he tied the rope over the bandages, Damien stiffened, but all he said was, "hold on, man. I got you."

Sam Peterson sat outside the patio of his house giggling over his victory. That was his second time leading a fight and winning. Guero had trained him well. He's His daughters again and came from a family of snipers. His father was a sniper and he wanted to become one too until his uncle told him to drop it.
He smiled again and again hoping he'll one day have something greater to do with the gang. Shooting out one hand isn't what he envisioned but the sniper has tried. He said he's too noble to do that.
One of the women walked up to him, she meandered through the tall grasses in front of his house and grabbed him.
"Why is your heart throbbing. What's it, Sammy? You look worried."
"Nothing," he smiled putting his right hand into his pocket and knowing he othered his sniper to shoot at Damien.
"I feel something was wrong. That's why I followed you up here."
"What are you saying? Seriously nothing."
"I can tell you are panicking. We had casualties too. We lost a friend. I hope she finds peace."
"You don't mean it. Don't tell me she died." He glanced down at his feet, his breathing increased, and right there he thought of himself as a failure. Even though he saved Elvira or another person that looked like Elvira, he couldn't stand up.
"Don't tell me she died.
Tears fell from his cheeks and quickly his mind improved on his version of what happened. He has seen scary things but he hasn't killed anyone until today. He inhaled, raised his head, and smiled.
"I think I'm becoming a man.
