Jane was about to leave with Wade when Christy's mind turned to snap; she quickly attacked Jane without even thinking about what would happen to her next.
“You fucking bitch, what did you do to my family?” Christy grabbed Jane's hand, but Jane was so quick she twisted Christy's hand, which made Christy cry in pain.
“Christy!” Daniel screamed in horror for Christy. He ran and rushed towards her when Jane pushed Christy.
“D-Daniel, this bitch! She did something nasty to my family. I will kill this bitch! I will fucking kill her.” Christy screamed out of her lungs, but she stopped when Jane gave her two slaps on her face. She was stunned and didn't know how to react.
“Christy, did you forget that you told me to remove your family from the list? You don't need to worry because I recorded everything, so your father knows it's your fault.” Jane grinned and turned around. She gave Christy and Daniel a last glance before she left them.
Christy started crying, and she was afraid to go home because she knew that she would have her father's wrath once she went home. While Daniel could comfort his fiancé, he was still dumbfounded by what he discovered. He had known Jane for so long, but he didn't know that she was powerful and one of the Fontaine.
Daniel's face paled when he remembered how Jane hated his family and mother. He was embarrassed that his mother insulted Jane because of her status. Once his family learned that Jane was a Fontaine, they were scared that they would humiliate Jane.
“Daniel, do something, please!” Christy panicked when she saw her father's men entering the police station. There was fear on her face, and she was disturbed.
“Ms. Christy, come with us. Your father wanted to talk to you.” Christy was about to be restrained by the two men holding both hands, but she could only continue sobbing. She didn't even notice that Jane was watching her from afar.
Jane didn't have any reaction, but she couldn't understand that she felt guilty for using her family's power. She never did that to anyone since she didn't like it whenever some people mocked her, and all she had was her family background.
Jane wanted to prove to anyone that she could be successful without her family's help, so she did her best to cut them off, worked every penny that she had, and applied for a scholarship so she could finish her studies. Even though she was used to being treated like a princess, she endured everything to make them see that she could live without her family's support.
“You don't need to feel guilty. It's her fault that she didn't respect someone because of their status. You let her taste her own medicine, baby.” Wade whispered; he grabbed her waist and smelled her neck. Jane was stunned for a moment, but her eyes became blurry.
“Respect is for everyone, not for their status or wealth. Even though those people worked hard for their dreams, they earned respect. But sometimes those feeling all mighty didn't like to respect those lower than them. It's her fault. Don't blame yourself.” Waded added. Jane gulped and shut her eyes several times.
Jane's mouth trembled, and the tip of her nose reddened as she snuffed. “But I don't want to get my revenge like this. I am mad at them, but what about her relatives who were too good? They might be affected by my actions.”
“No one is good. Calm yourself because I know your cousin is waiting for you to do the right thing. Since they all mocked the only young lady in their family, Leo Fontaine still awaited your call. You see, Christy went out to jail today, but she didn't even learn anything in prison.”
“Wade..” Jane gasped when she felt his hands roaming on her back. She bit her lip to prevent herself from moaning. Jane couldn't understand why Wade was like this. They were talking about severe matters, and now, Wade was being a pervert as if he was too celibate for a decade.
“Don't you dare moan my name like that? I'm trying to control myself not to take you since I will give you a week to decide, right?” Wade chuckled, which made Jane almost push him when she felt that Wade was trying to tickle her.
“Shit! No–”
“Jane, is it OK to talk to you right now?” Jane groaned, and her cheeks were blushing. She looked at Daniel, and she didn't even notice that Daniel was watching them acting like a couple.
Jane sighed. “You can talk here. I don't want to speak with you privately since my boyfriend didn't like the idea.” Jane glanced at Wade, who was stunned when she mentioned him.
Wade licked his lip and avoided his eyes. How could Jane know he wasn't okay if she talked to Daniel? Wade bit his lip to prevent himself from smiling at Jane's action. He never thought he would act like a pussy whip, and he was thankful that his friends were not with him.
Daniel's expression changed in an instant. He didn't understand why Jane acted like she had a relationship with Wade even though it was not. “Jane, it's my fault. Please, don't take your revenge on my fiancé. What do you want me to do? I will do everything to have your forgiveness.”
Daniel assumed that Jane was doing this because of him. Because Jane was still in love with him, she was bitter that his family had insulted her.
“What are you talking about, Daniel? Did you think it's my fault why your lovable fiancé experienced this?” Jane was full of irritation. She gave Daniel a murderous glare and clenched her teeth.
“You are so full of yourself, Daniel. Did you forget how she mocked and insulted me? She asked me to remove her family as one of the Fontaines investors. I don't believe it's my fault since I did what she wanted me to do.” Jane annoyingly responded. She turned around and didn't even look at Daniel again. She went into Wade's car and waited for Wade to enter his vehicle.
Wade scoffed.“You wasted someone, Daniel. Are you blind? Didn't you know the difference between bronze and diamond? You wasted your opportunity to be back at Jane.” Wade shrugged his shoulders and was about to turn around.
“Don't be too proud because I know Jane is still in love with me. If I begged her to be with me, she wouldn't think twice about opening her arms for me. She is doing this because she is mad at me. You're just a man she used to get even at me.” Daniel boastfully muttered, which made Wade sarcastically laugh at him. Daniel gritted his teeth in so much annoyance; he knew that he was right since Jane couldn't even dare to look him in the eyes.
“Daniel, did you think that her family would accept you? Well, maybe your family will crawl back at Jane once they find out that she is a Fontaine, but did you think the Fontaine Family would accept someone who humiliated their princess? I don't think so.” Wade chuckled and plastered a smirk on his lips. He tapped his shoulder with complete confidence.
“They won't accept someone who has other ambitions. Who do you think they will get for Jane? I think you already know who I am.” Wade added, which made Daniel stunned in disbelief.
Daniel knew it was too late to regret everything, but he didn't have a chance to correct his wrongdoings. He watched Wade enter his car with a smirk on his lips.
Daniel stared at the car, hoping that Jane would even look at him, but since the vehicle was tinted, he wouldn't see her. He watched the car move away from him, and when the car wasn't too near to him, his legs trembled.
Daniel quickly went to their home; he wanted to tell everything to his mother, but he knew that his mother would be under great stress once she found out that they had treated someone worse and that someone was more powerful than them.
“Daniel!” He glanced at his mother, who was cooking a meal for them. He rushed toward his mother and hugged her from behind. “Did you know what happened to Christy's family? They were all facing great bankruptcy! I'm afraid that this might affect our business!”
Daniel breathed hard when he heard what had happened to Christy's family. Of course, he knew about it since he was with her when they both were released from the Police Station.
“You don't need to worry about them, mommy! Because I know that they will do anything–”
“What I mean is I think you shouldn't be with her for now. I don't want this situation to affect our family's fortune. Oh! I'm thankful I didn't even announce your engagement with her family!”
Daniel was lost for words. He was astounded by how his mother acted in front of him. Since he had a relationship with Jane, his mother always told him about Christy, and now he finally realized that social status was too important to her.
“Mommy, at first, I didn't even believe in Jane when she told me you talked to her, but now, I believe in her.” Daniel couldn't stop being disgusted that he had a greedy mother. He thought that his mother was too kind, but he was wrong!
He couldn't believe that he believed in her, and did everything she said to him!
“Daniel, what are you talking about? We are talking about Christy's family! Why did you ever mention her?” Daniel's mother asked in disbelief; she swallowed when she saw how Daniel glared at her.
“Yeah, I talked to her because she didn't have the status I wanted for you. I want you to be successful, and I want a woman for you who has a significant position in this society!” She added.
Daniel shook his head annoyingly. He uttered more profanities before he kicked the chair in madness. “So, that's why you didn't want her to me; I thought Jane did something nasty to you! I still remember what you said to me, that she disrespected you and even mocked you when you both went out to the mall.”
“Of course, t-that is one of the reasons, too!”
“No! It's not; she is mad because you tried everything to provoke her. I can't believe that you stepped this low, mommy! Did you forget that you weren't rich when you met daddy? Did you forget that your parents-in-law disliked you even though you're a social climber?” Daniel was about to talk again when his mother slapped his cheek. His heart softened when he saw how his mother formed tears in her eyes.
“I can't believe you dare talk to me like that because of Jane. How could you hurt your mother?” Daniel's mother cried and acted like she was too hurt by how Daniel treated her.
“What is happening here?” Daniel stopped when he heard his father's voice. He sighed and watched his mother continue her drama. “Daniel, what did you do to your mommy? Instead of getting mad at your mother, why don't you go to Christy so they would still know that we want to continue the upcoming marriage.”
“I still can't believe that they are all removed from the Fontaine investors. I hope they will do–”
“It's because Christy provoked Jane to remove their family as one of the Fontaine investors, daddy.” Daniel sighed in defeat. He never thought that he would be powerless.
“What do you mean, Daniel? Maybe, Jane is Leo's mistress. Ha! I knew it! She is a slut!” Daniel's mother commented, which made the two men glare at her.
“Mistress? I don't think that Jane will ever do that. I tested her to see if she had good intentions for our son, and she passed. I still can't believe that she and Daniel broke up!” Daniel couldn't believe what his father had told her. Now, he fully understands why his father liked Jane for him.
“She isn't a slut, mom! She can do that since she is Jane Fontaine. She is the only lady of the Fontaine family!” Daniel yelled, which made his mother lose consciousness when she realized her mistakes.
