Wife for Hire Chapter 13

Wisdom supposed that Denver was the man she had been praying, hoping, and dreaming of.

She just woke up and it was exactly the moment her phone beeped. She received a text from Denver that he was inviting her for lunch at Chateau by the Air hotel again. Wisdom just smiled and replied with a smiling emoji full of hearts.

Wisdom can’t believe that she is Denver Mikhail Giordano’s hired wife for real. Well, she better be used to it because in two weeks’ time, she will be ‘wed’ to Denver and will be permanently sleeping on his bed—as a paid wife and a married woman to a billionaire, or probably both.

Wisdom wasn’t denying the fact that she is falling for him. Nope, not at all. But, her pride would disagree with the fact that she was just married to him just because she was hired to be one. Nevertheless, paid or not, she is his fucking wife—and she will do what all wives do to their husbands from now on.

She looked at her statuesque reflection in the bathroom mirror. Wisdom is blooming and glowing. She brushed her teeth and took a relaxing shower. She cooked herself a nice Spanish omelette and made a French toast and grabbed a glass of orange juice from the fridge.

Wisdom was certainly having a good day.

She was eating her breakfast when her phone lit up. She immediately dropped her utensils and read Denver’s message out loud.

“Let’s eat at The Luxury, one of the specialty restaurants from Chateau by the Air hotel. I also have a surprise for you. You better be happy when I see you, sweet Wisdom.”

A widely-smiling emoji is at the end of his text, making Wisdom happily ginned as well.

“Finally, this cold brute is beginning to melt with my touch,” she uttered as she scooped a spoonful of Spanish omelette in her mouth.

She was pretty much in cloud nine. She never had this feeling before. Even when she and Richard were still dating back then, she never felt like this as if the butterflies were flying inside her stomach and slowly rising into her throat. Well, it sounds weird. But the fact that she cannot explain this delight and feeling of happiness just made her drowned in this emotion even more.

For the first time in her twenty-one years of existence, she had finally felt genuine, unfeigned happiness caused by a man.

Wisdom watched as Denver approached her to the hotel’s lobby where she was sitting. Her smile grew wider as he came closer.

“You told me to smile when you saw me so here I am…”

“Happy Wisdom is pretty much contagious indeed,” Denver’s grin was identical to hers. He then gave her a soft kiss on the cheek, making Wisdom blush. Denver softly chuckled upon noticing her blush.

“You’re cute, Wisdom.” Her cheeks became even more red.

“I-Am I?”

The teasing smile of Denver was still clinging on his face as he nodded to her. “Yes. You surely are smiling…widely.”

Their conversation was interrupted when a man in neat clothes approached them. “Your lunch is now ready, Mister Giordano.”

His voice was very respectful to Denver and to Wisdom. She eyed him and smiled sweetly. Wisdom swore the young man blushed as well.

“Thank you, Erik.”

Denver and Wisdom slowly walked to the specialty restaurant with her arms looped around his.

“It seems you are pretty much cozy around me these days,” he whispered in her ears. “Are you proposing a truce or is that because you already know the length of my dick?”

Wisdom wished she wasn’t drowned at his sexy, masculine smirk.

‘You shouldn’t be tempted by his smirk!’ Her consciousness was shrieking at her but she just brushed it off.

Wisdom didn’t think twice as she gave Denver a soft kiss at the corner of his lips. She saw him flinch. But, he eventually kissed her deeper instead, halting them from walking—never mind what the passing people say.

“Ehem!” Wisdom parted her lips first and saw Erik gawking. She smiled sexily and Erik blushed for the second time around when his plan was actually to smirk at them.

“What?” Denver asked as he tried to lean again to kiss her.

“I’m already hungry. Let’s save our energy for later.”

“Later?” Denver clarified. “You’re gonna be spreading your legs wide in my bed again later, sweet Wisdom?”

She laughed in a soft manner. “Maybe yes. Maybe not. As long as you give me a raise on my payment and my allowance.”

Denver’s eyes narrowed, “You sound a very cunning person—or should I say a shrewd wife?”

She rolled her eyes and pulled Denver closer to her. “Let’s eat now, Denver. I can smell the butter steak even from here already.”

Without any choice, he pulled Wisdom for a kiss one last time in the middle of the hallway with Erik watching. They then traversed to the restaurant, with Denver feasting his eyes to the food and to his soon-to-be Mrs. Giordano.

“I’ll consider this as our first, official romantic date.”

Denver arched his brows to Wisdom. “Oh really? What makes the place romantic then?”

She shrugged. “The interiors. The music. The food. And you.” Wisdom then winked at the still-munching Denver.

He bit his lips sexily. “Gosh, I never knew that I am already a Mr. Romantic, eh?”

“From the first time I saw you until today, you have always been the National Romantic Man of the Country ever since.”

Wisdom’s face beamed with an angelic smile that, if Denver is an ice cream, he had long gone melted in his chair.

“Is that an insult or a compliment, Ms. Calvin?”

She paused for a heartbeat when Denver called her by her maiden surname. Wisdom almost forgot that she bears her father’s family name all along.

“Both,” she forced a smile on her gorgeous face.

Denver noticed this and was a bit astounded.

“What’s wrong?” He asked as he extended a hand to her; his hand atop hers.

“Nothing. I wasn’t just used to being called by my maiden surname…” She then lowered her face to hide the tear that formed in one of her eyes.

Denver nodded. To change the ambience, he caressed her oil-drenched lips courtesy of the steak and said, “Are you excited about my surprise?”

Wisdom jerked her head. “You have—I mean, you really have a surprise for me?”

“Yes. And that is inside my other surprise.” Denver’s fingers returned to the utensils after uttering those words.

“You have two surprises for me?!” Her voice was excited, cheerful.

Denver’s signature smile returned to his face. “Finish your lunch. I’ll take you to my first surprise after our meal.”

Wisdom becomes jolly like a child that had just bought a strawberry ice cream.

“Oh,” Denver added. “There’s still a matcha ice cream cake for our dessert.”

Wisdom has never been as happy as this moment.

She knew then that no matter how many storms that had passed in her life that tried to wreck her apart, she knew that at the end of every storm is a rainbow waiting to shine and be seen.
