Witch Trilogy I: Alinta Devereaux Chapter 12

“YOU ARE SO STUPID.”

“Enough, mother. We have talked about it multiple times in the past. Can’t you let go already?”

“How the hell can I let go if I see you every day, looking like a weakling and remaining a disappointment!”

An exasperated sigh instantly filled the room.

“You can call me whatever you want, but I am never taking the road you chose for me.”

“Hah! If only you have killed that man, you are now one of the most powerful witches in the kingdom! Now, you are just you! A weakling!”

“And that man is my husband, the father of your grandchildren. Can you stop talking about killing him? If you don’t respect my love for him, at least respect him as the father of your grandchildren!”

I felt amused as I continued watching the two women bicker.

I remembered this scene. How couldn’t I? I was playing in this room with my mother when grandma suddenly barged in, looking as scary as ever.

Truth be told, as I watched them bicker, I could see my ten-year-old self sitting on a couch, also watching them with eyes full of amusement.

Grandma scoffed. And her long black hair fluttered. She seemed annoyed. Her beautiful face crunched into ugly ones as she continued admonishing my mother. I must say, grandma's looks were top-notch. I recalled admiring her beauty and used to wish to be like her. Mind you, 'used to'. Now, I just hoped to have my own unique beauty.

“There are a lot of men out there. Better ones,” grandma said, sneering, “A virgin man and will vow his loyalty only to you. If you have waited a little longer, you might have found one. Or better yet, I would have found one for you. Perhaps, there would be two."

The look on my mother's face said she was dying inside. The number of times they talked about this was probably thousands already. Talking about the matter repeatedly, I could understand why my mother sometimes didn't want to see grandma.

"I don't need two men. One is enough," mom emphasized, "So, stop talking about visioning me making my harem." Grandma opened her mouth to talk, but mother raised her hand to stop her from talking. "Please. Don't start it."

Not feeling good talking with the disappointing daughter, grandma finally gazed at my ten-year-old self. Instantly, I saw myself put on a blank face and sat upright.

Tsked. Coward!

"Never follow your mother's shoes," she said in disdain, "You have the blood of the dark witch, the future of our clan. If given the opportunity, do not hesitate and kill someone!"

"Mother!"

"What?" Grandma faced mother, her eyebrow raised. "Unlike Nieva, who unfortunately got your husband's bloodline, Alinta got ours. She is the future of our clan!"

"Stop speaking about killing someone in front of the child," mom said while trying to reign her temper. "Stop shoving bloody ideas on the child."

Grandma scoffed in response. "You can't fight her destiny," she said confidently, "She will become a full-fledged dark witch, the one who will follow in my footsteps. Mark my words."

I thought I would see more of the past, but the world suddenly crumbled and surrounded me was nothing but darkness.

I wonder why I was seeing this. Was I in an ordinary dream? I think so. I didn't remember being in a dream spell. Honestly, I recall nothing at all. My head was fuzzy, and everything was blurry.

For almost looked like an eternity, I remained stuck in the darkness. I started wandering and didn't find any exit. Then, suddenly, a light struck my eyes, and a flock of energy seemed to suck my soul.

The instant I opened my eyes, all memories came back. The curse plaguing the werewolves, the elders, and the fucking alpha of the Blood Clad Pack.

A surge of emotion immediately filled my heart and brain. And the only thought I had was to kill--- kill the fucking alpha!

"What have you done?! Do you know the impact of what you just did!" Elder Kirin fumed. He seemed one way from shifting into a werewolf as he growled at the man sitting leisurely like a king on his throne.

Severino gazed emotionless at the elder before slumping lazily onto his seat. "I found myself a mate," he answered, "You've been looking for a woman to occupy the position of Luna in my pack. Finally, here she is. However, you seemed unhappy about it. I wonder why."

"She is the hope of our realm!" Elder Kirin exclaimed. His forehead bulged from anger. "I care not if you want her, but you must do it properly, not forcefully!" he added.

He was afraid the girl would take it to heart. He could tell that Alinta was temperamental. And the incident might affect her decision to help.

"What is happening in here?" asked Lila. She and the others just entered the meeting room. The atmosphere was intense and kind of suffocating.

Then, she saw Severino. Her eyes couldn't help but instantly brighten.

"Sev! I mi---"

Lila fell to her knees, and as she clutched her chest, blood started oozing out of her mouth.

Luke frowned. He waved his hand, and the energy tormenting Lila instantly vanished. "This is not the time to torment your companion. You know about the plague. So, instead of fighting among ourselves, we should unite."

Severino gave Luke a gaze. It took almost a minute before he finally ceded his energy. Then, he looked at Lila and said coldly, "Do not come near me nor look at me, filthy woman."

Lila stilled. Her heart felt hurt, but she still obeyed him. Gritting her teeth, she bowed her head and avoided his eyes.

The blond guy whistled. "That was intense!" he remarked. Then looking around the room, he only saw Severino and his beta and gamma. As for the bloodied-hair girl, he can't find her. "Where is our saviour?"

The surrounding went still.

Then, Parviz scoffed while Cross smirked playfully.

"You mean the Blood Clad's Luna?" said Cross.

"What do you mean?" the blond guy instantly asked, not fully understanding Cross' words.

"The girl you're talking about," Cross started explaining, "has just become our Luna."

Before everyone could fully comprehend it, Elder Kirin added, "Alinta is now Severino's lifetime mate."
