You arrive at a small mountain village. Nestled on the mountainside, it's bordered to the east by the beginnings of The Sinuous River, narrower but slightly torrential at this point so far upstream. The villagers welcome you like you've never been welcomed in any of the villages of Faraway.
“Buy my mountain maps, guaranteed half-reliable!”; “Cheap lucky charms: you'll need them.”; “Last-chance potions! Last-chance potions!”; “Spare sword, don't find yourself unarmed facing the beast!”; “Have you thought about writing your will? I'm a clerk, I can help you with that...”
Clearly, this village has been traversed by many adventurers who came to slay the dragon, to the point that it's become a profitable activity for the local population. There are even more guards than usual for such a small village, watching you with a dark look, well-versed in the excesses of adventurers. Although they are clearly locals rather than professionals, these people still manage to survive near the dangers of the Boût mountain range and should not be underestimated. Their surprisingly high-end equipment likely came from your many unfortunate predecessors, whose charred bones surely litter the path beyond the river.
