Alpha’s Second Chance Mate Chapter 9

_Ariana’s POV_

His eyes goes from my face to the food on the floor, one perfectly carved eye brows going up.

No, it doesn't look good. I definitely do not find that attractive.

“Were you planning on eating from the floor?" He asked, I could hear the sarcasm dripping from his words.

Closing my eyes, I count to five before I open then once more. A perfect way to keep my anger in check.

“I was planning on eating from a plate. But my plans got ruined because you came and scared the crap out of me. If you wanted to eat the food on the floor, be my guest. It's your house after all." I tell him, smiling sweetly at him.

Everything would have gone perfectly, it was going perfectly. I was supposed to walk out of this room with my head held high. But my stomach just had to growl loudly.

His eyes snapped to my stomach and I look away embarrassed, my cheeks flaming up.

Lord, please let the ground open up and swallow me whole.

“You could have just said you were hungry." He said, clearly teasing me.

If looks could kill, Damien whatever his last name was wold be six feet under and no one would know where to find his body.

“If I wasn't hungry would I be in the kitchen by this ungodly hour?” I resisted the urge to facepalm myself.

I feel like the longer I stay with this man, the more I loose my common sense.

“I see."

That was the only thing he said before he pushed me aside gently, pulling the fridge door open.

In a few minutes, he had brought out some vegetables and meat, placing them on the counter.

“Uh… what are you doing?” I ask him when he takes a knife, washing his hands along with the knife.

"I thought you were the smart one. Take a guess.” He said, then starts chopping everything.

Don't tell me he is cooking for me. Wait, is he really cooking for me?

I seat on a stool on the other side of the counter, watching him do his magic.

I couldn't help but stare at his body while he cooked, he was muscular. But not the kind that made you feel disgusted because the muscles looked too big, but the kind that has you drooling because it was very attractive and just the right size.

Does that even make sense?

“Take a picture, it lasts longer." He said repeating what I had told him earlier without looking up from his cooking.

My cheeks heats up in embarrassment because this is the second time he has caught me staring, but unlike the first time he didn't look irritated by my presence.

“I might just take a picture." I say without thinking, slapping my hands over my mouth when I realize what I said.

He looks at me then takes his eyes back to his cooking, not saying anything to me.

“Next time if you want to flirt, flirt better." Snow said laughing at me.

I didn't even want to flirt with him, it just came out. Groaning, I hit my head on the counter in embarrassment. I hear a light chuckle, but the sound of something frying in oil covers it up.

“What are they like?” Damien asks after a few minutes of silence. I raise my head to look at him, confused on what he meant.

“Our children. What are they like? I kept looking at the pictures and I don't even know what they are like." He says and I smile.

"Derek would have given me a harsh scolding if he sees me eating by this time. They are three but they act like they are older than I am at times.” I laugh when a memory of Derek scolding me comes into my mind.

"Werewolves grow faster than human kids. It might seem nice until your babies are no longer babies.” He says, stirring the sauce he was currently preparing.

I laugh when I hear him say that. I fear what this kidnapping would do to my babies.

I pray they don't get traumatized by this. My poor babies. I wonder who kidnapped them and how they are being treated.

I didn't notice Damien had closed the pot and was by my side until a picture of the three of them was placed before me, just in time for a tear to drop on it.

Sniffling, I clean my tears. I shouldn't be crying, I have to be strong for them.

“I promise you that we would find the children.” Damien promises and I nod, believing him.

I don't have a choice but to believe him.

In a few moments a plate of spaghetti was placed before me, replacing the picture on the counter. The delicious smell making my stomach growls louder.

“Why don't you tell me about our children as you eat. What are they like? What do they like? Do they know about me?" He asks all at once, excited to know about them.

“Okay. So the oldest is Derek. He's this one." I point at Derek in the picture, he was standing with Dristian and Alexia. Alexia stood between them, three of them having a toothless grins on their faces.

“How do you differentiate between them?" He asks, looking betwen Derek and Dristian.

They were triplets, looking really identical, Alexia is different because she is a girl.

“Don't worry, with time you would be able to tell them apart too." I assure him, going back to telling him about the children.

“That's Derek, and then there's Dristian and Alexia. Derek is three minutes older than Dristian who is six minutes older than Alexia.”
