Alpha's Temporary Luna Chapter 46

Axel then, honestly told Sophie what was happening, both about regarding Edward’s suggestion of alliance, and Rebecca’s request. The Alpha took her to his office room while doing so.

Amidst talking, one of the Omega in the pack brought them lunch. It was like a usual job for the lower ranked wolf. They were to assist in the important people in the headquarters. Except, it wasn’t a free service but paid.

Axel and Sophie shared a meal. And after discussing the thing about Rebecca to clear Sophie’s curiosity, Sophie moved on to tell her real motive. She told the Alpha about what she saw outside the Palace. In the area where help never seemed to come. Like it wasn’t a part of the Kingdom at all. She indicated the problems she deduced exist.

“Sophie, we are creatures that survives even without the kind of help that only human needs.” Axel explained. “Besides, they are the one who decided to live away from the Capital. They didn’t want to get involve in our combat.”

Sophie’s brows formed a line. “So, you just let them be?”

“What else can I do? They wanted a peaceful life, now they have it.”

Sophie let out a seemingly disapproved expression. “They are abandoned!”

“That’s not the word that’d describe it. Because if someone else dare to hurt them, I would stand for them. All of us would.”

“Because you like engaging in a fight to show that your kind are superior. Isn’t that the same reason you declined the alliance?”

“The alliance doesn’t have anything to do with our conversation, Sophie.” Axel grimaced. “I get that you’re frustrated, but my reason and your concern are definitely not aligned.”

“They need help. Seriously, Axel.” Sophie stood up. “Please, order some of your men to go around the village. The whole environment is unhealthy! Some of them are sick. The houses were burned!”

“The same wolves you’re saying that needed help were the same ones that turned their back on us when we needed them. Had I been merciless, they would be long gone.” Axel’s tone was dull. “Now, if you want to help, I wouldn’t stop you. But do not ask for my assistance.”

Sophie’s shoulders slumped down. What was that, a history? Was there a reason why the village averred to be apart of the Western Border?

The Luna let out a sigh. It has always been difficult to pursue Axel. He had such a cold heart that no begging could go through it. Not unless, it was really needed, or if it was really necessary. Hence, Sophie was forced to back down. She may not have been able to get his help, but at least, she discovered a tiny information about the situation, and what caused it to end up like that.

Sophie apologized, before she left. She went home to the Palace with Flora. Whilst Hansel and the others stayed upon confirming that they’re going home.

She thought about what she could do to help, as it was still bothering her. She told Flora about her concern, as well as what she and the Alpha talked about. Coincidentally, Flora knew something about what had happened in the past.

Axel had been leading the Kingdom. The pack, for many years. But even though Sophie knew as much, she knew nothing about the past wars that occurred. The fights and combats that made the pack what they were today. She did not know there was a time that the Alpha and the others fought for their survival. And those whom she mentioned that needed help, refused to lend a hand.

They were the ones who wanted peacefulness. They believed that they would be spared if they will not get themselves involved. That story alone made Sophie’s heart break. That must have been tough for all of them. It was an act of betrayal.

They were the same kind, and no matter what, they should’ve stayed together and fought ‘til the end.

Sophie finally understood Axel’s side, but still… she couldn’t turn their back on them.

Sophie still wanted to continue her plan. And that being the case, she prepared food for every kid they counted. She made herself known, to the kids who haven’t been to Capital, nor the Palace. Words spread in the village, that in the second day they came, people’s relatives with diseases started to ask her for help.

She really wanted to, but without Axel’s assistance, how could she ever lend a hand?

“My Lady, what we did was enough. Those people aren’t your responsibility so it’s not good that you feel coerced to be of any help.” Flora said, as they walk inside the Palace after their ride.

“I know, Flora.” Sophie answered with gloom. “I just couldn’t help it. They looked really…”

“They brought it upon themselves. They’re even lucky the Alpha allowed them to live in his land.” Flora’s words weighted. As if she also hated those wolves. “We have accomplished our goal in that village. We shall visit the next one tomorrow.”

Am I giving up on that?

Sophie knew what Flora said were true. But somehow, it didn’t manage to ease the uncomfortable feeling inside her chest. It was breaking free. Heaving another sigh, Sophie went straight to her room.

––

“So, the Queen will also be busy tomorrow..” Rebecca muttered under her breathe as soon as she read the message.

What a fortuity! Now, it was her chance to do her next move. Considering that her Alpha, Edward, will also be out for the pack’s matters, she’ll have the time to step unto the lines she drew.

Rebecca saw the couple together before they left. She assumed that Axel and Sophie had resolved the misunderstanding. Sophie may not had been that affected. But she’ll make sure what will going to happen next will shook her….

And his King, who would be the main character in her little show, of course.

A few knocks from the door pulled out Rebecca from her thoughts. It was her trusted fighter that belonged to the Western Border. In simpler terms. Her spy. She just got a message from the other beagle she had. Now, she was assuming this second one brought good news as well.

“My apology for intruding. But I have an important message. The Alpha, Axel Hugh Valicx, had just accepted the Alliance.”
