Sophie, who was desperate enough to make a new member to a guild she was planning to create, courted the girl with a healing power. She explained to Anna the purpose of the guild. Why she wanted to establish it, and what would be its goal. She wanted to pursue her by carefully clarifying her interest. But of course, it was beyond her knowledge that Anna had already decided to join, with or without her explanation.
Anna was younger than Sophie. She was eighteen. Her height reaching five-seven. She had a brunette hair, and hazel-colored eyes. She was such a pretty, innocent looking lady. Nevermind the rank, nor the family she came from. She had the skill, so she qualified.
“I have no bad intention, Anna. I am not planning to use you, nor any of the members I recruited. I created the guild solely to help.” Sophie held Anna’s hand.
“Please, lend me your strength.”
For an important person to plead before me, she was sure kind. Definitely not what I expected her to be. Anna thought as she stared back to Sophie. Her eyes, then, swept. From her pair of tantalizing eyes, to her nose, and lips. Anna’s eyes then reflected fascination.
“You’re a beauty, Ms. Sophie.” Anna unconsciously commented.
“Huh?”
Anna heaved a breath. “It’s an honor to join, Ms. Sophie.”
Sophie’s lips pursed. She did not know what it was that Anna was thinking. But she felt relieve to hear that! Anna had just accepted her invitation. One more person, and she could really form the guild! She felt like it was now within her reach!
Out of pure bliss, Sophie pulled Anna into a hug, smiling. “Thank you, Anna! I promise you, you will not regret this!”
Sophie felt more motivated to continue. She told Anna she’ll come back soon to get her, together with the other members. She had planned to keep them before and after she pass the request. The preceding decisions regarding important matters would be made after the approval was granted. It was her goal. And so, she continued to look for another member.
On the other side, Axel was still on a bad mood after he was forced to agree on the Alliance. He was upset. The Council did really push their luck, and succeeded. He was never going to accept the union!
But the Borders had a unanimous decision. There was nothing he could do.
He was the Alpha, but he could not ignore the pack. He didn’t want them to lose trust in him.
Axel pushed back his head on his chair. Today was the day Rebecca was supposed to come. He was thinking about going home early. After all, he had been drawn into too much work early. He wasn’t giving her much attention these days that Sophie had to think about something to do to kill her time.
Perhaps, this was the perfect time to take a break. The plan to make a baby was forfeited when they fought, anyway. They didn’t have to opportunity to make full use of his leave.
Heaving a sigh, Axel stood up from his seat. He started to pile up the papers in his desk, before he made his way towards the door. He went out, not knowing, that Rebecca was already on the ground floor.
----
Rebecca moved to Western Kingdom, as planned. Edward bought a house near the Headquarters, just like what Rebecca wished for. She came today, with no one but herself. Today, it was just her. The day after tomorrow, Edward will follow her. They haven’t come up with an agreement, and but she was certain Edward won’t always be here. At most, he can only sleep here thrice a week. His availability on daylight however, would be…. twice a week.
Edward was a busy Alpha, not to mention, he was also working on with making alliances.
Rebecca continued to walk on her feet, unintentionally attracting other wolves’ attention as she did. Some even smiled back to her. The announcement was initially about Axel. She wanted him to know that she was never a problem. The warmth and acceptance that the Border has made her feel since was just a collateral. They’ve been good to her, even the Council. She didn’t even expect that the same people who shamed her will be the key.
“Rebecca.”
Jacob, who just came from the stairs, called her name. She was on the ground floor, alone.
“Hi!” Rebecca put up a friendly smile, as she approached him. “I’m here to talk to Axel. Is he free now?”
Jacob raised his brows. “I think so. But did you inform him? The Alpha doesn’t like sudden visits––“
“I did!” She lied. “I just didn’t tell specifically when so I was wondering if he’s free today.”
“Oh, you’re good to go, then.” Jacob returned the smile. “Would you like me to accompany you?”
“No…” Rebecca refused, shaking her head. “I’ll be fine on my own.”
No, Jacob.
“Alright.”
Jacob lightly tapped her shoulder, before he walked pass by her. She was expecting to see Rousel, and had prepared an excuse since he was Axel’s meticulous wingman. But nevermind that. That Jacob just made it easy for her.
Now that I’m thinking about it. I haven’t seen any of Axel’s loyal warriors. Did he conduct a secret mission, again?
Rebecca walked upstairs, towards the Alpha’s office. Back when they were still together, she would often come here for him. She would seduce him, make him feel good, without minding the other wolves that might hear them. A small grin appeared on Rebecca’s lips as she reminisced.
She continued to step through the staircase. Her hand was on the rail to support herself as each time she lifted her foot, the maximum mass of her strength was running out. She wasn’t as strong as she used to. Rebecca inwardly realized that herself, so she slowed that. She was already breathing hard the moment she reached another floor. But there was still one more. Rebecca stopped for a moment to catch her breathe. Not only did the pregnancy restrict her for doing a lot of things, it also weakened her.
Now, she wasn’t just breathless. Her back was a little hurting, too.
Rebecca, then, used her other hand to support her back. She stood straight to relax her back muscles.
Just thinking about taking a fifteen more steps tired her even more.
God. She thought. I should’ve just pulled a stunt to make him go down.
But as she was just wishing not to walk any longer, she heard a footstep. Rebecca heard the sound of the heel kissing the stair. So, she looked up.
She had been heard. Axel was going down. The same moment Rebecca had wished for him to do so. Their eyes met, and Rebecca couldn’t feel any better.
“I was just about to come visit you––“
"What are you doing here, Rebecca?”
