Gondol had no choice but to the disclosed the information regarding their situation. He was forced to tell the Alpha about the impending peril on their tribe. In which a member of the Wesleyeian wolves impregnate the daughter of the Crimson Red’s Alpha. In addition to that, their member also claimed to the Crimson Red’s Alpha, August, that he was his daughter’s destined mate. August was enraged. His daughter, Ramiya, was an only child. August was extremely protective towards his daughter that he forbid any male wolf even in their pack to get near her. She was that important.
So, when he found out that her daughter, Ramiya, got impregnate by some low ranked wolf, he attacked the Wesleyeian, threatening to kill all of them if the Elders would not think of a way to kill the baby in her womb. August gave them one month. It was two weeks ago. They only have fourteen days left.
In Efraim’s fear that his pack might be slaughtered, he send his men off. To request an alliance to the other pack in exchange of information they would ask for. Efraim was even willing to pay gold. All to save his kind and tribe.
Fortunately, a week after they were attacked, rumors spread about Edward and Axel’s alliance. Efraim took even the slightest chance that the Western Border would help them, he send his men to the Western Kingdom to confirm if it was true, so he could contact Axel to form an agreement.
And it lead here, exactly to where they were, right now.
“To impregnate August’s only daughter is one thing, but claiming that he is her mate?” Axel’s brows furrowed. “That’s not a nice thing to say, especially to that unreasonable King wanna be.”
“You know August?” asked, Conrad.
“Of course.”
The Western Border is one of the infamous tribe. Especially after Axel fought the neighboring kingdom. He was called a merciless beast for slaughtering their whole pack. Not to mention they’d been involved in a lot of wars and brawl. It was the reason why they remained untouchable. And Axel’s long time intention was to continuously take care of that image.
“No wonder you didn’t want to disclsed that.” One of the Elders commented. “It was an important information that should be kept within the Pack.”
“Certainly.” Axel agreed. “Thank you for your honesty, Gondol. You can rest assured that this information will not be known to the public. As planned, we will procceed with the devising of the rules and restriction.” Axel folded his sleeve til his elbow. “If you have nothing else to say, I am dismissing this interrogation.”
Gondol breathed hard, and nodded. “You may.”
Axel slightly raised his head. He gave the Wesleyeian wolves permission to exit the room, leaving only him and his Council inside. It was such a long talk.
“I didn’t expect their situation to be quite critical.” Rodolfo, one of the Elders, broke the silence. “We’re going to help the Wesleyeians, are we?”
“We’re forming an alliance, we should.” Axel shortly replied.
Backing up the Wesleyeian was not much of a big deal. What he was thinking right now was what happened between the two pack. If one of the Wesleyeian pack indeed impregnate Ramiya, that should meant they were seeing each other. But what was his basis for saying he was her destined mate?
Because surely, he wouldn’t risk the pack by attesting a lie.
Or did he love the woman enough to make a big lie? Which was one was it?
“We’re going to get ourselves involve in the war? Crimson Red is not just a random pack, they are strong.” Rogelio asserted.
“So are we.”
Crimson Red was nothing to be afraid of. At least, for Axel, it wasn’t. He didn’t see August, nor his pack, a threat. They could fight, but it was all there is to it. Rogelio was probably hearing too much about the mentioned pack that he acknowledge them.
“We will not fight them head-on, Rogelio. We will just simply back them up. If you’re worried about the casualties, we can just ask Edward for a little favor.” Ernesto said.
“Ask Edward for what favor?” What Ernesto said totally caught Axel’s attention. “They needed our help because we are strong. We don’t need Edward’s pack.”
Edward’s name always had an effect to Axel. It irked him, each time. Now, hearing how Ernesto sounded a little fond of him annoyed him more. Since the Council found out Edward had impregnate Rebecca, they had been acting generous to him. He didn’t know what for.
“It’s only a suggestion, Alpha.” Ernesto cleared his throat. “Of course, the decision is still yours to make.”
“We’re going to help them with their problem fourteen days from now. We, Ernesto. And this noon, I will announce the alliance together with our plan to lend them a hand. I’ll summon Hansel later on to assemble our warriors. We will prepare our wolves.” Finality graced on Axel’s tone as he faced his Council.
Axel had a feeling that Efraim’s plan was only to scare off the Crimson Red. They weren’t fighters to begin with. But the preparation was still needed in case things get out of hand. August was not one to run off from his words. So they better be ready. Especially, the Wesleyeian wolves themselves.
“We will also need healers in the battlefield.” Rodolfo publicize his opinion. “How about we send the best we have to ensure the victory?”
“Or we can send Sophie with her guild.” Ernesto, who looked like an idea was suddenly struck to him, spoke. “We have agreed to approve it, didn’t we? But we haven’t seen their actual skills. Sending them to the battlefield––“
“Send Sophie in a battlefield?”
Axel’s brows met. What he just heard was an absurd idea! He will not endanger Sophie just to prove her abilities. On top of that, she was not used to wars! Her members were all low ranked wolves whose prowess are very limited. Axel didn’t think the guild could contribute, in any way.
“Sophie passed a request paper. They formed a guild, Alpha. In which I’m sure you’re already aware of. A group of low ranked wolves with healing abilities. It was quite intriguing. I never knew Sophie was quite interested in leading people,” Ernesto said with mirth.
“Ah, yes. Now that you’ve mentioned it, we are suppose to give them the result today, aren’t we?” Rogelio turned to Ernesto. “This would help them gain popularity. They only have few members, so perhaps, if we send them to the battlefield, the other omega who also had healing power would step up. It would make a good contribution!”
The Omega, who were low ranked, had always been just a citizen. They were trained to protect themselves, but they were never present in wars due to their poor strength and abilities. Some of those whose rank were higher even discriminated them, which was inevitable. It caused them to stay low and not interfere with the work of high ranked wolves.
But it caused the whole pack a lack of manpower. The children of the high ranked wolves were forced to nourish their strength at a young age. Both man and woman. There was even a period where the Beta were forced to produce a child.
“Yes…” Rodolfo agreed. “Not only it will solve a crisis, but allowing the Omega step up to showcase their strength and skills would benefit the Pack!”
“I will not send Sophie in any battlefield, Elders.” Axel’s voice was strict. He wanted to let them know he putting Sophie at risk will never be an option. “She will stay here in this Kingdom, under my protection.”
“But this is a good opportunity!” Ernesto countered.
“Then send the rest of her members. But Sophie will not come with them.”
Axel might have understood their point. But his sense of responsibility to protect Sophie was stronger. He was still sane not to let Sophie do a dangerous activity. Not now, not never.
With that, Axel stood up in his seat. He told the Elders they will see each other this noon before the announcement. He didn’t like where the conversation was going, so even when he still had enough time before he send off the Wesleyeian wolves, he dismissed the forum.
Axel went out of the conferencing room. He knew Sophie was waiting in his room so he went to the second floor. It was almost lunchtime, so he was thinking about taking her out in the Capital for a bit to eat. But as he was walking to the hallway, only a few meters away from his covert, the door opened.
Expecting that it was his Luna he would see, Axel let out a small smile.
But as soon as he breathed in to call her name, she turned to be a different person.
“Rebecca…” Axel muttered her name. “What were you doing inside?”
“Axel…” Rebecca sounded surprise. The highly evident wicked amusement in her eyes irked him. “I heard you talked to the Elders. How did it go?”
Axel’s face turned dark. He closed his fist. He knew Sophie was still inside. And Rebecca also knew, which was why she was here. A single glance of Rebecca’s fake smile was all that it took for him to figure out what this little bitch was trying to pull.
She was still trying to rub salt in the wound.
“So it seemed you didn’t took my advice seriously…” Axel advanced from his position. His eyes glowed caramel, as he created an afterimage by using his speed. His temper immediately got the best of him. He was right in front of Rebecca in a span of seconds. “You shameless whore…”
