Alpha's Temporary Luna Chapter 62

“Oh, he’s not? We agreed to see each other today to discuss something. Where is he?”

Rebecca took a step inside, without any permission from Sophie. She crossed her arms, and gave her eyes a little tour inside the den. Flora, who was behind her, closed the door close. She attentively shifted her eyes to Sophie.

Sophie’s lips pursed. Although Rebecca’s face resembled honesty and innocence, she didn’t feel like trusting her words. She saw how hostile Axel was to her. He wouldn’t agree to meet her, not over non-important things.

“Did you not hear? He’s on a conference with the Wesleyeian wolves.” Sophie’s face straightened. “But I can relay your message to him. What is it?”

“It’s important.”

“He wouldn’t mind if you tell me.” Sophie’s tone was brash.

There was something in her tone Sophie didn’t like. Something on the way Rebecca’s lips curved. Sophie felt like there was something she was unaware of. Something… threatening.

The two female wolf looked at each other with hidden malicious thoughts. Sophie, who was doubting Rebecca’s presence today. And Rebecca, whose real intention was to provoke Sophie’s emotions. They both share a fair amount of hostility and distaste towards each other. Yet, on the accompany of each other, they hid their claws.

“Ms. Rebecca…” Flora called the other female wolf to break the tension in the air. She bowed down her head to her for a split second. “I heard from the Alpha about the future activities him and your mate would commit. To strengthen the bond. Did you come here to talk about when it would transpire?”

It was a lie. Flora did not heard from the Alpha, nor was she important enough to have a casual conversation with him. It was not also why Rebecca came here. Those were just a made-up reason she thought of to not make Sophie feel confused and doubtful.

Flora knew what kind of trick Rebecca was pulling, and this wasjust her beginning step. There would be second, and third of this. She knew because she told her. She knew because she had been acting on it on her behalf. She was Rebecca’s little informant. The spy inside the Palace to know Sophie’s whereabouts. She was the reason Rebecca knew what was happening, both with Axel’s personal life, and work affairs.

“Oh…” Rebecca raised her brows. The slight changes in her eyes could be seen as she shifted her gaze to Sophie’s servant, Flora. “Yes…”

Rebecca had her on her neck. She made sure of that. But hearing how Flora tried to block off her provocation, she saw another connecting line. Flora did not see Sophie as someone she was only serving. She liked him, dearly, like an older sister.

“I-I will inform you once the conference is done, Ms. Rebecca…” Flora avoided a direct eye-contact with her.

She did not regret saying it. Though there will probably a small consequence for this, she wouldn’t mind. This was the least she could do for Sophie, who treated her as a friend whilst she was stabbing her in her back. Flora swallowed hard.

“A certain activity to strengthen the union…” Sophie repeated, it came off with a sound of relief. “You came from the Capital, didn’t you? It would be a waste to go now. Why don’t you wait with us?”

Rebecca’s pleasant expression got overwhelmed by her forced smile. It was her initial plan, to wait until Axel was done. She planned to spew lies and manipulate Sophie. She want to stirr up her jealousy to create a conflict between them.

She wanted to know Axel’s reaction when being emotionally striken.

If Flora didn’t interrupt her, Sophie’s doubts would have risen up by now. After she found out Axel’s continuous hiding, Rebecca was sure a little lie would push Sophie to the egde. But that seemed impossible now since Sohie’s emotions had calmed down.

Her effort to show up at a time Axel was not around was turn to oblivion. Her little spy would have to make up for that.

“It’s okay.” Rebecca pluck the few strands of her hair behind her ear, and smiled. “I’ll just come back the other day.”

“Oh…” Sophie responded. “Okay. But I’ll tell him you dropped by.”

Rebecca nodded, before she turned around and reach for the doorknob. She opened the door, and in one swift move, she left.

–––

“I didn’t do anything, Axel…” Rebecca stepped backward. “You can ask Sophie and Flora.”

Still, the hovering threat in Axel’s eyes didn’t disappear. The fact that she was in front of him now was a living proof that she tried pushing through with her stupid show. What made it worse was despite reprimanding her, Rebecca still did not want to stop.

Axel took another step closer to Rebecca. He was inwardly deliberating a ploy as he stood before her. He’d be occupied in the nexts days. There would be a lot of exertion to do. Surely, if he was to overlooked this, Rebecca would feel comfortable to come after Sophie again. Which was in never Axel’s list to allow.

“I want to fucking kill you right now…” Axel didn’t show no hesitancy to speak harshly towards his ex-Luna. “If not because of the alliance, you wouldn’t even have the eyes to look at me.”

Viciousness reigned over Axel’s face. His jaw was clenching. It was troublesome to deal with a delusional woman especially during the time when Axel have his hands full. But somehow, he had to do something.

If killing her was only in the option, then gladly, he would. But the union between him and Edward was what stopping him. And it was right at this moment he felt regretful about tying the knot with Rebecca’s mate. He shouldn’t have agreed to his Council to form an alliance. Now, it was restricting him.

“You know Edward will come after you if you do something to me.”

Now, the look in Rebecca’s eyes was challenging Axel. Her statement just showed how she was counting on to Edward. Her courage was coming from the union, because he knew, Axel was not allowed to hurt her. Not when they were supposed to be allies.

“No…” Axel deadpanned. “He wouldn’t if there were no evidence, would he?”

Rebecca’s eyes widened. “W-what?”

Axel gave her a once-over before he bumped her shoulder, passing her by. It left Rebecca in a rather fearful situation.

What Axel said was vaguely, but Rebecca knew it wasn’t empty. She turned around to follow Axel with her gaze.

The Alpha walked straight towards the path she came from. He entered his den, to see his Luna, Sophie.

Rebecca swallowed hard. She refused to believe Axel will be able to kill her. She didn’t want to trust it.

He wouldn’t… right?
