TYSON’S POV
I had the habit of imagining scenarios and preparing to meet them headlong. Never in my wildest dreams had I thought that I would be mated to someone.
It wasn’t deliberate but it did happen. I had started caring for Aurora and our baby. This scared the shit out of me.
After we teleported back to the Pearl Palace, I lifted Aurora in my arms and carried her slowly to my bedroom. Whenever I saw anyone, I would lower my head as if I am whispering something in her ears.
I could hear the thrumming of her heart and her labored breathing. My lips spread in a natural smile realizing that my proximity affected her.
The moment I closed the door to my bedroom she exploded, “What do you think you were doing? This was supposed to be acting!”
I bit the inside of my cheeks to keep my expression stoic and said, “Wasn’t this acting?”
She got flustered and scowled as she didn’t have any good comeback. “Can’t you give me some warning?”
“I am not obliged to… but I might try…” I said with a smirk.
Exhaling deeply, she flopped onto the bed. I heard her muttering something like, “God knows why I thought I could stay stuck with this pig head in his room.”
I chuckled as softly as I could manage. Only she would call the King of Dragons a ‘Pig Head.’
“I am going to kiss you,” I said abruptly.
Her eyes widened in horror and she stared at me as if I had grown horns. Was it so bad to kiss me?
I sat close to her, cupped her face, and lowered my head so that our lips were almost touching. Her breath hitched and she closed her eyes. Her lips parted and I almost lost myself.
It took all my self-restraint to pull away. I cleared my throat and said, “I was just demonstrating how I would warn you in the future.”
“YOU!” She shouted, balling her hands into a tight fist and glaring at me.
This room did seem lively with some free entertainment.
“Since you tried to trick me YOU owe me one.”
“Sorry! How did I trick you?” I asked crossing my arms.
Her face flushed and she said in a flustered voice, “I don’t know that but you owe me one.”
Chuckling at her tortured expression; I asked, “What do you want?’
“Ahem… I wanted to ask a question…”
She lowered her eyes and wrung her hands. Then, she squirmed slightly. I wondered what question made her so flustered. I had to satisfy my curiosity now!
I cleared my throat and said, “Go ahead…I will try to answer it honestly.”
“Ummm…. Aslan told me that… Ummm…. How dragons are mated… I saw so many scars on your wrist… Never mind let it be…” She said jumping to her feet and facing away from me.
Ah! This was interesting. I thought she didn’t care about my romantic relationships.
I closed in on her and grasped her by the shoulders. I lifted her chin so that she was looking at me and said, “You think I have a harem full of mates, don’t you…”
Her face flushed redder than a tomato and she said in a flustered voice, “Not that I care… I just wanted to know just in case…”
She kept quiet after that. Though I was tempted to tease her more I decided to reply to her honestly. “ I won’t lie to you Aurora. I have slept with many women. Though I never trusted anyone enough to even bring them home.”
“Means… no mates…”
“No mates… Even this was a mistake.” I said waving my hand between us.
Her eyes flashed with hurt and she abruptly ended our conversation saying, “I am tired and want to sleep.”
I couldn’t help but wonder if this meant more to Aurora. If that was the case, it was best to make myself scarce…
AURORA’S POV
I wonder why my heart ached when Tyson called the relationship between us a mistake. I knew that he didn’t care about us but he didn’t have to be so expressive about it. I had a feeling I would regret every moment I spent in this bedroom…
I created a magical barrier separating his section from mine and settled down on the bed. Sweet slumber engulfed me the moment my head hit the pillow.
“No!! Please don’t hurt her…I beg you… Please don’t hurt her!” Tyson’s screams jolted me awake in the middle of the night.
His face was contorted in pain and he was begging some invisible creature to spare someone’s life.
I scooted closer to him and tried to wake him up. But, he was so stuck up in the nightmare that he didn’t wake up even after I shook him up.
Suddenly, he grabbed my right hand. His lips stretched in a pleasant smile and he stopped screaming the moment he had placed it on his chest.
I tried to pull my hand away but he held it in an iron grip. He was sleeping so peacefully that I didn’t have the heart to wake him up. I couldn’t sit in this awkward position the whole night either.
So, I laid down and slept off with my hand lodged firmly between his arms.
The next morning, I woke up nestled in his arms. I couldn’t deny the fact that it was the best sleep I had ever since I came here.
I held my breath when Tyson stirred in sleep. It would be very awkward to explain what happened. I felt the weight lift beside me.
I heard a gasp and then nothing. By the time I cracked open my eyelids he was gone.
