AURORA’S POV
I paced up and down the room, wringing my hands, glaring at Aslan every few seconds. That idiot had declared me as the Queen of Dragons… What was he even thinking?
“Can you please slow down… My head has started throbbing.” Aslan said massaging his head.
I stood right in front of him and gritted out, “Serves you right! If you hadn’t saved my life I would have used my magic and turned you into a mouse and put you in one of those boxes we get… you know the ones in which the rat keeps running one a wheel…”
“Calm down Little Witch… I just announced the truth…” His face turned pale and stopped talking suddenly.
“What did you just say?”
“Ummm… nothing…” He said looking away.
He was hiding something from me and I intended to get it out of him. I used my power and suspended against the wall. “Start speaking, Aslan, or I will forget that you are my brother…”
“Okay…okay…but first put me down!”
I set him down but kept my eyes fixed on him just in case…
“When Tyson fed you his blood that day, you became his mate officially.”
“You lost me there. You made me drink your blood too but there is nothing between us right…”
Aslan’s face flushed red. He lowered his eyes and muttered, “That was different Aurora. When a dragon shifter offers his blood to a woman he…Ummm… has made love with… and she accepts it…They are considered officially mated…”
Now it was my time to be embarrassed. “I didn’t even know about this Aslan… I was unconscious… how can I have given him acceptance?”
Before he could reply Tyson, Zarina and Caleb appeared in front of us abruptly.
Tyson lunged at Aslan and grabbed him by his neck. His eyes blazed as he said, “Do you have any idea what you have done, Aslan! You just added all my enemies to her list. I should kill you for this!”
I was furious with Aslan but that didn’t mean I wanted Tyson to kill him or punish him. I grabbed Tyson’s hand and said, “He was just trying to save me, Tyson…”
“He should have taken my permission first!”
I shook my head incredulously and said, “Why did you not take my permission before making me drink your blood?”
He turned to look at me, opened his mouth to speak but no words came out. Letting out a deep sigh, he released Aslan.
“Don’t worry, Tyson. We will protect Aurora and her baby at any cost.” Aslan said rubbing his neck.
“We can protect Aurora from our enemies but who will protect her from her? She loves to teleport to the most unique places in the world.” Caleb said, waving his hands at me.
My face flushed red and I looked down. He was right. I always ended up getting stuck in the wrong places.
“I think we should make her wear an enchanted necklace around her neck. So, she won’t be able to do magic.”
My heart skipped a beat when Aslan suggested this. I was thinking of a counter argument when Zarina placed her hand on my shoulders and said, “No need… I will teach her how to use magic effectively.”
I agreed instantly. It was better than not being able to use magic. I didn’t want to feel like a helpless woman once again.
As if on cue my head started spinning and my vision got bleary. I was about to pass out when two pairs of arms shot out to hold me. Caleb being closer to me, managed to grasp me and steadied me.
“Damn! I totally forgot about this. She was stabbed with an amethyst needle.” I heard Aslan’s broken voice as I drifted in and out of consciousness. I struggled to keep my eyes open.
I saw Tyson slit his wrist and place his wrist near my lips. Despite better judgment, I found myself drinking the liquid that trickled into my mouth.
After a single draught, I was felt good enough to stand straight. I raised my head to look at Tyson. His stoic face didn’t give me any hint of how he was feeling. He was staring at the cut healing automatically.
Grasping his hand, I ran my fingertips on the newly formed scar. I gasped as I saw the numerous marks across his wrist. They seemed to have faded with time but they were still there. I couldn’t stop myself from asking, “How did you get so many scars?”
He pulled the sleeve down quickly and changed the topic. “What are we going to do about the current problem? If I tell the dragon shifters that Tyson’s announcement was fake, they will force me to punish Aslan.”
I wasn’t so shallow. I couldn’t let Aslan be punished. So, I said, “It’s okay, let them believe whatever they want. We know the truth right…”
“That is not the point, Aurora. Even if I announce the news, our comrades and servants will be on a constant lookout for gossip. We will have to pretend to be a real couple…”
“It’s okay, Tyson. You both don’t have to do this. You can tell them the truth tomorrow.” Aslan interrupted in a firm tone.
I recalled all the times Aslan had shown me kindness. Even now, he made the announcement so that he could save my life. It was only fair to return his favor.
“Aslan, we owe you this. It is just some acting. Let us do this.” I said with a weak smile.
Tyson gripped me by the shoulders. His eyes blazed like coals as he said, “Are you sure? This is real life, Aurora. You will have to stick by my side till we find a way out. You can’t start your tantrums whenever you like.”
Exhaling deeply I nodded my head. I was already stuck in midst of God knows what all… It wouldn’t hurt to add some acting to my platter, would it?
