Nick's POV
I woke up later to see that Simeon had put up a fire with his back turned to me. I was having a minor headache and my Tommy was seriously rumbling hard due to a sudden intense hunger, I was hungry as fuck.
I let out a deep breath and tried sitting up, which got Simeon to turn back to look at me.
“How are you doing?” he asked as his eyes settles on mine. From his expressions, I could tell that he has so many questions to ask but was trying not to rush into it just yet.
I wish there was someone I could ask questions about what the fuck is going on with me.
“yeah,” I said, clearing my throat after noticing how coarse it sounded even to my hearing.
“I'm hungry,” I said to Simeon who immediately went into the woods and returned in no time with a kill. He got it roosted and placed it before me and within seconds, I had completely devoured the meal. It wasn't exactly satisfying but it was enough to combat the hunger a bit. When I was done, I began to regain my lost strength. I looked around to see where I could get some water to wash off all the dirt that was in my body.
“What do you want?” Simeon asked after watching me look around the woods.
“Water,” I said
“There is a stream close to the human territory, it's too late to see anyone at this hour, maybe we should go there,” he suggested and waited for my approval before leading the way.
So I got up and went with him, As we got closer to the stream, I saw an apparition of a woman draped in white. Her hair was as white as the snow, any faint-hearted person would be terrified at the mere sight of her, but not me.
She was sitting by the stream, and on closer look, I saw that it was the same woman I saw the other day. Her smile was warm and comforting and I didn't know I had stopped in my track till I felt Simeon's hands on my shoulder.
“you need to hurry as it's almost morning, people will start coming to the stream soon,” he said and bent down to start washing his hands. I looked up to where the woman was sitting and found out that she was gone.
I joined Simeon at the stream to wash my hands and body after which we started walking back to the pack.
“Are you going to tell me what the hell is going on with you?” Simeon asked after we had walked some distance.
I sighed deeply “honestly? I don't know” I said not stopping to look at him.
“I don't understand”
I don't too, I have been having this weird feeling and seeing things that I don't think I am supposed to see"
“Things like what?”
“Like the woman at the stream”
“What are you talking about? There was nobody at the stream except us”
“That is what you think, but I am telling you there was someone there with us and this is not the first time I am seeing her”
“Seriously you are freaking me out now, Who is she and what does she want?”
“How am I supposed to know, she does not talk with me, aside from the other time she called me Ivar”
Ivar? And you don't know her
“No!” I said getting unnecessarily irked by his questions. I know he is just trying to help but at that moment my head was full.
“Do you think she might be your mate?” he asked and I turned to give him an angry look, he quickly gulped down his Adam apple and walked past me.
Luckily we got to the pack just in time to join the other guys for the morning walkout. We went straight to where the other guys were only to find the place filled to the brim with all the warriors from various shifts present. They were all armed and scattered around as if expecting an attack anytime soon.
“What the fuck is going on now” I mumbled as I drew closer to the guys and as soon as a few of them saw me, they started calling my name while jubilating.
“Nick is back” I heard someone scream from the crowd, at that moment I was so freaking confused as to what was going on.
No one before now has ever been bothered about my whereabouts, then why the Sudden change now. Before I could ponder further about what was going on, the group has circled me asking various questions that sounded foreign to my ears.
“Where is the beast?”
“How did you kill it,”
“is it coming back?”
“Did it say what he wanted?”
The first person my mind went to again was the rogue girl, only God knows what she has done this time. Thinking of it now, everything that has been happening to me from the very moment I arrested her.
I looked around to see a confused-looking Simeon standing outside the crowd.
Then just as the noise started, it went down only to see that my evil stepmom just walked in with her son and entourage. She didn't look happy like the others and her expression was blank. Though she did try to fake a smile on one or two occasions.
“The alpha thanks you for your bravery and patriotic act to your people, this has further reassured the people that the pack will be saved with you by your brother side In protecting and defending the pack. And to show how happy we are, we have decided to have your birthday party alongside the presentation of the future Luna of the pack. As some of you might have heard, the future alpha already has a mate, and come tomorrow she would be formally introduced to you all” she said as her evil eyes roamed around the crowd to see anybody utter something out of place.
“Till tomorrow then,” she said as she walks out with her son, the other warriors also went their various ways leaving a few and Simeon behind.
I could tell once more that Simeon had a billion and one questions to ask as he walked closer to me.
“Don't ask” I said to him as I walked out of the scene.
