Tyler POV:-
“How dare you touch her with your filthy hands!?” I yelled and shot the guy who was holding captive my Candice.
It boils my blood to see someone touching her pure body.
“How dare he hurt her?” I growled.
The person so close to me. For whom I can take any life, he dared to harm her. Utterly infuriated, my steps sped up as I walked towards him.
He died the instant I shot his head.
‘I never miss my target, he should know that and their Missy who did all this. She better be prepared for picking a fight with me.’
My action caused the continuation of the havoc. My men were not weak for losing against these losers.
“None of them should survive!” I ordered. It was an easy win with no casualties.
“Yes, Boss!”
George stood behind me as I walked up to Candice, passed out form and wrapped my arms around her as I pulled her close.
“I am sorry, Love. It happened because of me.” I whispered as I removed a few strands of hairs falling on her face.
“It’s going to be alright. I am here now.”
She has lost consciousness. I wiped the blood on the corner of her lips as the urge to torture the guy who did this to her arouse in me.
“I am here.” I picked her up and ordered my men to kill everyone and left with her.
I took Candice home and called a doctor there. I was glad to know she is fine and there’s no harm given to her.
“Don’t worry Mr Moretti, She is fine. She’ll wake up soon.” I nodded and the doctor left.
After she left, I went to my studies and saw George and Austin there.
I went inside and took off my coat.
I rolled my sleeves and closed my arms at my chest while leaning on the desk.
I gave them an expressionless look and ordered,
“Austin, Go to Paris and gather information about this Dark Seductress. I am giving you two weeks. After that, me and George will come here and deal with her.” He nodded.
“Yes, Sir.”
“And George.” I then turned to him.
“You find out about her purpose of being so desperate to start our trades there.”
“Yes, Sir.”
“Also, assign two bodyguards for Candice who will update me about her every activity when she goes out.” George nodded.
I am doing this not because of her safety but to know about the reason for her lying to me.
I raised my hand to dismiss them but then I stopped George as Austin left.
He turned to me, waiting for me to continue.
I looked away, not knowing what I was going to do was right or wrong.
I don’t care about Candice’s past then why I am trying to dig up the darkness she buried and decided to start her life anew.
‘Was it because it is affecting our future or I am afraid to give Candice the same fate as Lydia?’ I thought worriedly.
I was lost in deep thoughts which are affecting my mind.
“What the hell is happening..?”
I am stuck at the position where I want to know what her life was before coming here.
“Is everything okay?”
But at the same time I want to respect her privacy and don’t want to invade it without her will.
I want her to tell me herself which seems impossible but based on what Elmer said. If she needed something, she should have told me about it.
“Sir..?” George asked me, dragging me out from my thoughts and after collecting my thoughts. I finally spoke up with a sigh,
“Find the information about a guy named Nicolas, what’s his relationship with Candice.”
“Yes.” And he left.
After I gave them their jobs, I went to see Candice. She was sound asleep. It was a tiresome day.
The day was setting. I changed into my casual wear and climbed under the covers and held her close to me.
“I love you so much, sweetheart.” I nuzzled her neck and closed my eyes. I just want to earn a reprieve from the chaos.
“You cannot fathom how much.”
A short-lived moment of solace. I let the darkness consume me as I fell asleep holding her close to me.
The next day, I was sleeping but then I felt Candice poking my cheek. I groaned and slowly opened my eyes.
She smiled at me and plopped on her elbows.
“It’s dawn.” She whispered.
“Why did you wake me up so early?” I yawned.
“Because I also woke up and I don’t want to be awake alone so I woke you up as well.” She giggled.
I chuckled groggily and turned to her and also plopped on my elbows.
“So what are we supposed to do now?” I asked in a whisper.
“I want you to tell me about yesterday.” She said direly.
“What about it?” I asked, dreading they might not have told her about me or my work.
“What happened, why did it happen?” She asked, holding my hand.
I averted my gaze from her, trying to think of a convincing story which can persuade her and not think about it.
I took a deep breath and tightened my grip on her and looked at her apologetically,
“I am sorry, Candice. It happened because of me. I always lived alone, I never had anyone by my side.” I paused, hoping to sound my words convincing.
“And now when I have you, they are taking advantage of you but don’t you worry. As long as you have me, I won’t let any harm reach you.” I passed her faint smile.
“Who are these people? Why are they doing this? Who saved me? Was it you?”
I know telling her that it was me would give rise to many more questions if I decided to play on the safe side.
