Veronica didn't know what she was going to say when Veron got mad at her. She closed her eyes as her hand started to shake. She didn't like to offend Veron because he was the one who helped her.
She swallowed hardly before she tightened her grip on Veron's hand. She bit her lips and forced herself to create a smile.
"Veron, you don't need to get mad at me. I know that you're only doing this to pressure me. You already know why I'm back here. It's you who witnessed how I suffered." She whispered something that made Veron finally return to his senses.
His expression changed, and there was a look of regret in his face. He looked away and sighed.
"I don't think that I'm ready to have a relationship. I'm still thinking about Morgan; he's waiting for me." She added.
"Are you sure that it's about Morgan? Perhaps it's because of Jaxon. You are too intimate with him inside the toilet, and I'm your date tonight." There was anger in his tone, but his heart slowly got soft when Veronica hugged him so fast. He gasped and blinked his eyes to stop his heart from pounding too quickly.
"I'm looking for Morgan. I know that he's alive. Someone took him away from me. I'm sorry; I don't want you to be upset with me."
"Fine... Okay, let's have a friendly date after this party. Do you want to go to my pack?"
Jaxon violently inhaled when his wolf kept telling him to kill Veron for stealing their mate. He went back to his table when he noticed that Helene was glaring at him while she had a goblet in her hand.
Helene's eyes were puffy and bloodshot. He groaned and took his wine in one gulp. He really hated himself for making Veronica escape from his hand.
"I can't believe you had fuck the date of my brother's here." Helene snapped. She was drunk, and she couldn't stop herself from getting mad at Jaxon.
Seeing how Jaxon moaned Veronica's name made her blood boil in fury. She disliked and resented Veronica even more, and she hoped she would die so soon.
Jaxon was the one that she needed to get. He was a powerful Alpha, and they deserved each other. Once she got Jaxon, her father would stop mistreating her; that was how sure she was.
"I'm your date, too, tonight. You're disrespecting me. You are hurting me." she added.
Jaxon laughed so hard that he almost spit the wine. He smirked before he replied, "Did you forget that you did that too on Veronica? Helene, I loved you when we were young, but seeing how desperate you are to get me made me think about your intentions toward me. Did you think that I didn't even know that you did?"
"What are you talking about?" Helene's lips trembled in anxiety. She felt that Jaxon already knew what she had done to him.
"I still can't believe you are always with me whenever I am in heat. It's not normal. Until I discovered that you are plotting to give my drink some potions to make Veronica see that I'm fucking you. That we have a relationship even though it's not." He grinned when he noticed that Helene had turned pale.
He took his wine glass and drank again when Helene didn't say anything to defend herself. "Did you think that I'm stupid to finally know what your plan is?" I'm still giving you the benefit of the doubt because I'm thinking that you are doing those things for your father," he added.
"I don't understand what you are talking about, Alpha Jaxon." She denied it, her hands clenching when she saw Veronica with Veron.
"Really? Are you telling me the truth, Helene? I saw the potion that you spiked in my drinks, but I let it slide because I know you.." Jaxon paused, and there was a sadness in his tone that stunned Helene for a moment. She was shocked that she noticed how sorrowful Jaxon was.
"You are accusing me for the things that I didn't do. I just love you, and you promised that we would end with each other. I know that I was mistaken when I left you..." Helene's tears were evident. She sniffed and gnashed her teeth in outrage.
"Jaxon, we promised each other that it's only death that will separate us. I'm doing everything to finally be back with you. How dare you trying to choose Veronica over me? I did everything to get this position, so I will be more worthy to have you! I'm the Omega anymore; I'm the Alpha King's daughter now! However, you changed and now want a slut like her." she added, and she couldn't stop herself from crying. She was devastated that even though she did everything she could, it seemed it wasn't enough to get Jaxon.
"I didn't ask you to do those things because I'm willing to sacrifice for you. It's you who decided to do those things even though you already know what I like." Jaxon rebutted and took another glass of wine. Helene blinked. She couldn't believe that she heard those words to Jaxon after she endured everything to be on top for him; sadly, Jaxon changed.
"I only do those things for you because I want you to know that I'm qualified to be your Luna. Did you even know what I felt when you lost your parents because of me?" Her lips trembled, but Jaxon shook his head. He disliked the idea that Helene kept reasoning and not even admitting the truth.
"I'm disappointed that you'd be like this, Helene." He whispered, and that gave Helene a stab in the heart. She took her goblet and drank the wine in one gulp. Her tears didn't stop flowing, and she couldn't understand what she had done wrong to deserve to be treated that way.
She was the most essential treasure that Jaxon had, and now it seemed she was trash that he wanted to throw away.
"I'm the one who is fated to be with you. Always remember that..." She clenched her jaw. She tried her best to hide the pain that she was experiencing with Jaxon. "You have been mine since the very beginning. Did you think that the moon goddess could stop me from getting you? I will rather die than let you be happy with that bitch!"
"Then, it's your decision. I'm willing to kill you if you do everything to stop me. I will make sure that you will regret everything that you have done."
"Unbelievable! You're willing to kill me for that slut's sake? Are you fucking kidding me?"
"I'm giving you a warning that I can kill you if you keep stopping me from getting back on her. Those potions will not affect me anymore."
Jaxon walked away with the goblet in his hand, which made Helene sharply look at him before she coughed. She was furious that Jaxon had broken what he had promised her.
What if Veronica had to be treated like a princess like her?
"Alpha Veronica, let's go home." Ava whispered, that made Veronica quiver in surprise. When she stared at Ava, her sister's face was crumpled, and she already knew the reason when James came forward to them.
"You have a lot of work that you need to sign." Ava added. She bit her lips; she couldn't believe that her sister was so strict with her.
Veronica turned around to give Veron some attention. She didn't know what to say, but Ava cleared her throat.
"Alpha Veron, we need to go home. My sister needs to get some rest because her pack needs her." she added.
"Oh," Veron was disappointed, but he didn't have the courage to disagree, especially when he felt that Ava didn't like him for Veronica. "It's okay. We can meet again after your busy schedules."
"Veron, I'm sorry I didn't know that I have a lot of works---"
"You don't need to apologize to me. I understand that it's work," he whispered, kissing the back of her hands, which made Ava look disgusting.
Veronica bid her goodbye to Veron and informed the Alpha King that she needed to go home. She didn't even dare look at Jaxon, who was waiting patiently for his chance to talk with her.
"I didn't know that you needed to ask for his permission to go home.” Ava stopped walking, which made Veronica pause too. "You're my sister, and I don't like him for you," she added.
"Veron is great..." She only commented, but there was a hesitant tone in her tone.
"Yeah, but it doesn't change that he has a connection with those evil creatures. Don't trust him, so you shall not be disappointed once he betrays you for his sister."
"What are you talking about, Ava?"
"Blood is thicker than water. He will choose his sister over you in the end."
