“Are you sure that she's with him? How come she's naked?” Ava gnashed her teeth in so much outrage. She couldn't believe Veronica had left her room because of her mate.
The guard didn't say anything but stopped when they finally reached Jaxon, who was wearing his clothes to ensure no one would ever see his nakedness. When she checked Veronica, she saw her sister sleeping peacefully while Jaxon's clothes covered her body.
“He ordered us to make sure that you will know that she's with him.” The guard whispered and signaled his companions to surround Alpha Jaxon, who was looking at Ava.
“I want to talk with you alone. Just make sure that you will bring Veronica to her room. She's exhausted.” Jaxon said, which led her to widen her eyes in disbelief. She wasn't stupid not to know what Jaxon had done with her sister!
“Alpha Jaxon, this is not your pack. It seems you are belittling our security here that you went here alone.” Ava clenched her teeth and asked the guards to get some clothes for Veronica. When her eyes landed in Jaxon's direction, her eyes turned sharp all of a sudden.
“I'm not your enemy. Veronica didn't want to do those things with me at the party; I went here to check on her to ensure she was okay.” Jaxon looked around to the guards who were standing near him. He hardly sighed before he continued, “I don't want to tell you everything. I can trust the guards that didn't belong to my pack.”
“What are you talking about, Alpha Jaxon? I know my troops, and we all grew up together.” Ava seemed agitated when she uttered those words. She didn't like that Jaxon had been acting strange because of their pack guards.
She hardly breathed when Jaxon seemed wouldn't tell everything to her if she didn't remove the guards near them. Seeing Veronica's peacefully sleeping, she finally decided to trust Jaxon for a moment. She wanted to know what happened to Veronica that led her to have sex with Jaxon.
“Leave us alone. I want to talk with him.” Ava finally decided, and the guards quickly left them. She crossed her arms and moved her feet several times as if she was trying to intimidate Veronica.
“Why don't you start talking? We can't finish this talk if you didn't use your freaking mouth, Alpha Jaxon?” She couldn't stop being sarcastic. She could still remember how Veronica acted because of the man in front of him. She hated him because of that.
Jaxon coughed. “I don't like how you talk to me. You aren't an Alpha now, but a Beta.”
“I don't care about the positions. I'm still one of the respected leaders here. You are only a guest, so fuck your Alpha title if you want.” Ava grinned when Jaxon's face darkened in an instant. She smirked and arched her head as if she was trying to test him.
“You are not allowed to treat me this way. However, I will slide your disrespectful attitude because of my mate.” Jaxon whispered as if he was giving a favor to Ava. She rolled her eyes and wanted to curse him loudly.
“It's about the wine that your sister had to drink. I discovered that her wine had some potions that made her easily heated. It seemed her wolf knew that I was here, and I was the one whom she had---”
“Just don't continue the information. I already understand what you meant. You mentioned that someone spiked her wine. Did you know who it is?” Ava curiously asked, even though a mastermind was in her mind too fast. It was questionable for her that Veron asked Veronica to stay in his pack for a while.
“It's Veron. I heard him talking with the servant. I want you to ensure she will do something stupid; we both have the same goal.” Jaxon muttered, which made Ava laugh sarcastically. Jaxon was stunned, but he didn't say anything after that.
“We don't have the same goal, Alpha Jaxon. You don't know me at all. I will ensure that Veron will regret what he has done to her.” Ava's hand clenched in anger. She was right that Veron was only acting nice because he felt that he could use Veronica against Jaxon.
She felt terrible once Veronica found out what Veron had done to her. Veronica trusted Veron so much, but it seemed Veron had other plans.
“Don't do something stupid. It's better if he didn't know that we know what he might be planning. He will loosen his cover if he thinks that there wasn't someone who was too suspicious of him.” Jaxon advises.
“What? I don't care! What he did to my sister is inappropriate!” She exclaimed in anger.
“If you did something wrong, there is a possibility that they might do everything to hide Morgan again. Let them see that they are winning until they finally realize that they are the ones who will lose in the end.” Jaxon spoke before he turned around to check on Veronica, who was still sleeping.
“I need to go now. My pack is waiting for me. Just guide your sister and ensure she will do something stupid.” He added before he left.
Ava was staring at his back and annoyed because of his words. She didn't have a chance to mock Jaxon because he decided to leave. She asked someone to help her put Veronica in their room.
“What is happening?” Veronica asked hoarsely. She groaned when she felt her body ached in pain. She bit her lips when she thought it was too numb as if someone had kissed her too hard.
She closed her eyes. She was frigid when strange memories came back in her mind. Her hands shook when she didn't even distinguish who the man was because his face was blurry. Her cheeks flushed when she remembered how aggressive she was at that time.
“Did I do something wrong last night?” She asked once again when Ava didn't say a word when she asked her.
Ava hardly sighed. She didn't know what she would do. “We find you in the middle of the forest naked. What have you done, Veronica?” she asked interrogatively.
Veronica blinked her eyes. Her heart thumped so fast that she thought she had a heart attack. She couldn't understand why she seemed nervous.
Was she naked? Her eyes widened. The vivid memories haunted her mind. She gulped when she realized that it happened for real. She still remembered how that man did those malicious things to her. She couldn't stop herself from feeling guilty that she slept with another man.
“Veronica..” Ava called her.
“I can't remember what happened.” She lied. She didn't want to disappoint Ava again. She pursed her lips and looked away. “My body is aching. It seemed that someone attacked me while I was sleeping.”
Ava raised her brow and chuckled. She knew Veronica was lying to her, but she didn't want her to feel embarrassed about what happened to her in the middle part of the forest.
“I'm investigating what happened to you. I found out that there is a witness that night, and we are only trying to locate him.” Ava lied, too. There was no witness; she only created a story to make Veronica even more nervous.
“A witness?” Veronica exclaimed. She couldn't hide her panic anymore. She swallowed hard and didn't know what she would say.
If there was a witness, he might watch them while doing some intimate positions. She felt embarrassed when the scene that she was bending while the man stroked his massive dick behind her came into her mind. It was hot, but she didn't know who she had sex with.
“Yes, there's a witness. As your sister, I want to make sure that you are fine. I don't want to know that someone takes advantage of you.” Ava tried her best to stop laughing when Veronica's face turned pale. She shook her head when Veronica swallowed once again.
“I don't think that someone will take advantage of me. You don't need to investigate it, Ava.” Veronica mumbled that, making Ava arch her eyebrows even more.
“Did you think so? I don't think that anyone is taking advantage of you at that time, especially when we see you naked. I want to make sure that my sister is fine and healthy.”
“Ava, I'm alright. You don't need to worry about me. Why don't we start investigating Morgan?” she tried to change the topic.
“I realize why don't you give Veron a chance? He might be waiting for you for so long.” Ava finally uttered what she was thinking. Jaxon was right; if Veron felt that he was winning, there might be a great possibility that he would take down his guards.
