Veronica didn't know what she would say when she heard Veron asking her that. If she stayed in his pack, there was a possibility that she might be in danger because of Veron.
She needed to be wise to make some excuse. Veron might have taken advantage of her while she was with him in his pack. She might get close to Veron's pack, but she knew that the troops would instead team up with Veron rather than her. She knew her place.
“I want to. However, Ava is waiting for me. Do you want her to scold me because I already escape from her? She's too strict to become my teacher from handling the pack. I only visited you because I thought we would date each other.”
“But we are....” Veron rebutted and smirked, “I the field. You enjoyed how you won against us. Veronica, I want to tell you that I'm one of the happiest men because of you.”
Veronica smiled. She looked at the ground when her tears formed. She doesn't like what she was doing but Morgan is more important to her.
“I'm happy to be with you, too, Veron. I hope that in the next chance we are not busy anymore. For now, I will prepare everything so I will not disappoint my parents for being the Alpha of our pack.” Veronica only said that to see if Veron had been acting strange. Veron did everything to make the Alpha King but it was Jaxon who always got a good word than him.
“You will not disappoint them, Veronica. Don't think that you are that way. You have a good skills and think about the achievement that you have done when you are fighting with me.” Veron whispered, and his eyes were filled of sadness. He didn't like Veronica to see how affected he was because of her words.
He knew that Veronica didn't intentionally spoke those words to trigger him. He remembered that Veronica had been kicked out in their pack, so it was understandable that she was acting anxious because of her responsibility in her pack.
“See you again, Veron.” Veronica rushed towards him, and gently kissed him on his cheeks. He was speechless, and he didn't even know what he was supposed to do because of her.
It was only a kiss on his cheeks, but he felt that Veronica had stolen a kiss from his lips. He groaned and grabbed his hair in frustration. He was too old to act like he was a teenager who hadn't even experienced getting kissed by someone.
He moaned, and walked away from the border in his pack. He paused when he remembered that Veronica might avoid him once she had found out he was only using, and he didn't like it.
Fear enveloped his heart. Thinking that Veronica would stay away from him made him think that he wanted to end his life.
Veronica wasn't aware that his heart was in her hands, but he wanted to prove to his father that he could be proud of him. He could win over Jaxon because he was born to lead the werewolves.
Veronica's change in an instant when she was walked in the middle of the forest. She wiped her lips in disgust, and angrily smack herself from what she was doing.
Ava was right. She was only a key for Veron's success. She didn't want to be use by another man once again. She disliked to be treated that way, and it was better that she would be thinking about their plans.
As she was walking, she didn't even think that she would stay in Veron's pack until evening. She was walking in the middle of the forest when she heard some footsteps coming in her direction.
When she turned around, she noticed Jaxon, who was standing behind her. She swallowed when their hot steamy night together in the middle of the forest flashed in her mouth.
“You've been with him until evening. Veronica, are you sure that you want to be used as his pawn? Did you think that Veron is too dumb not to know that you have a plan against him?” Jaxon asked him. There was a trace of jealousy on his face. Jaxon was heartbroken. He was afraid that Veronica might end up falling in love with Veron.
Veronica gritted her teeth. She remembered what Ava had said to her. It must be better if no one would ever know that she was only acting.
“There's nothing wrong with it, Alpha Jaxon. We are both single anyway. Did you think that we are not good for each other?” Veronica wanted to play a game that made Jaxon smirked at her. He shook his head in disappointment.
“Veronica, he's only using you to win against me. I know Veron more than you. He's not that easy to deceive. He's the type of man that you might regret if you started a relationship with him.” Jaxon walked so fast, and tried to hold her hand but Veronica stepped back. She disliked that Jaxon had acted as if he wasn't the one who hurt her more.
”Says to a man who used me as the receiver of his sperms. Jaxon, did you think I'm too stupid to believe in you? Veron is excellent. I think we will have some beautiful pups.” Veronica crossed her arms and arched her brows. She pursed her lips when Jaxon stopped in an instant and glared at her.
“You don't even know what you are talking about. Veronica, please don't say those words to me. Do you want me to kneel in front of you? I can do it,” Jaxon was desperate. He didn't know what he would do next once Veronica finally decided to give Veron a chance.
“You don't need to kneel because of me. I'm not like that, Jaxon. I don't want to see it anymore. That's what I'm telling you!”
“No! I will rather die than to see you happy with another man. Veronica, how dare you act that you didn't even hurt me? How could you?”
“I didn't do anything like what you are saying to me. It's you who did some nasty things against me. Jaxon, I'm trying to act that we are civil because we are Morgan's parents. That's it. I don't want to settle with someone that he didn't even know what he wanted in his life.”
“Veronica, I will change. Just don't do this to me. I did everything to search for you because I want to explain what happened that day.”
Veronica scoffed. Her tears formed, and she didn't like being weak in front of him.
“It doesn't change the fact that you have sex with her while I was suffering. It's you who made me feel this way! It's you who pushed me to end my life!”
“I didn't even know why I always end up having sex with Helene.”
“Jaxon, are you fucking kidding me? It's who cheated on me. Did you still remember how you went back in your sanity whenever you see that I caught you? I don't want to settle with you. I only want Morgan.”
“Veronica!” Jaxon barked and followed Veronica while she was on her way home. He only made sure that Veronica would go home because he discovered that Veronica was still in Veron's pack.
“Leave me alone, Alpha Jaxon. I only want to have a rest, please.” Veronica shrieked, and went straight when Jaxon had been watching him from afar..
She was thankful Jaxon had been waited to him. She knew that there were some rogues who were haunting their prey, and Jaxon already saved her from dying. But she didn't even dare to tell him that because of her pride.
“Veronica, don't you dare went back in his pack. Do you want me to spank your butt?” Jaxon screamed out of his lungs. However, Veronica acted like she hadn't even heard him.
Spank? What does Jaxon have been thinking? She's not even a child for having received a spank on him!
“Hey! I'm talking to you, Veronica. Once I found out you come in his pack, I will make sure that I will spank you for disobeying me!” Jaxon repeated that made her stopped from her track.
“Shut up! I'm not a child. I'm not the Veronica that you use to be treated like a slut!” She shrieked. She angrily stormed closer to Jaxon but her eyes widened when she noticed a silver arrow coming to Jaxon's discretion.
A memories came back in her head. It was the same like what happened to her before she lost her memories.
“Jaxon! Watch out!” Veronica was panting when she rushed towards Jaxon. However Jaxon was confuse that made him receive the silver arrow stabbed in his heart.
A blood came out from his mouth that made Veronica scream in fear. She ran so fast to get Jaxon, and tried to tap his cheek.
“Jaxon, don't you dare die, or else!” Tears came out of her eyes. She didn't like feeling weak, like what she had been experiencing when she was with him.
Her hands were shaking when Jaxon opened his eyes to see her for the last time.
”Veronica, leave....” Jaxon whispered. She shook her head in so much resentment and tapped Jaxon's cheek once again.
”Don't you dare die? Jaxon, I promise that you will see how strong I am. If you die, what about Morgan?” she whispered and sobbed when Jaxon spat out a lot of blood. She kissed his mouth even though it had a lot of blood.
”Veronica, I love you...” Jaxon mumbled before he became unconscious.
