“Veronica!” Ava shrieked when she saw Veronica, who was hugging Jaxon. She was with James when she decided to take Veronica back in their pack. Her eyes widened when she noticed that Jaxon was lifeless. She gulped.
She didn't like to witness how Veronica cried because of her mate. She glimpsed at James who seemed shocked.
“James, ask someone to help you. We need to rush him in the pack hospital.” Ava ordered, and she decided to hug Veronica while he kept uttering about what happened to Jaxon.
It seemed Veronica was too scared to lose Jaxon, which made Ava felt confused. She was sure that Veronica was mad at Jaxon, but it seemed her love for him was more substantial than her resentment.
They rushed Jaxon in the pack hospital. They were all waiting for the doctor to tell him what happening to him. Veronica kept crying silently while Ava was embracing her, and trying to comfort her.
James coughed. He wanted to know the truth but seeing Veronica's state made him didn't do it. She didn't like that Veronica was crying. What was the use of her training that they both had did for the past two years? Crying didn't made them weak, but it was better if she did something.
“Veronica, what happened? Jaxon found out that you are with Veron. He's so madly jealous about it. He went to me, and angrily talked to me. I want to know what happened that night? There was nothing wrong if you are scared to lose but we need to do something to make sure that the culprit would be find.”
”He waited me to leave in Veron's pack. That time, we both fought. He's pleading with me to be with him again. He promised that he would be a good boy and that he would not treat me like a slut. I'm so mad, and I didn't like to give him a chance.” Veronica finally dared to speak up. She swallowed when she felt the coming in her chest.
“You don't need to cry. It's not your fault. I think this is Jaxon's fault.” James didn't want to make Veronica felt terrible. He was the one who was always on Veronica's side.
“Alpha James, are you telling me that Jaxon plan to get stabbed by that fuck arrow? He's a victim too!” Ava snapped in anger that made him growl in jealousy. He didn't like that Ava was always trying to defend Jaxon.
“He's the one who decides to fetch Veronica in Veron's home. Did you think that Veronica knew what might have happened to him?”
”That's not what I mean. They are both victims here. I know that you are saying that to make Veronica felt better, but you are not even helping her.”
James pouted and winked at Ava, but Ava only had her eyes to make James stop what he was doing. Ava hardly sighed.
“Let's stop fighting with each other. We didn't help her enough. Let us wait for the doctor's announcement.”
Veronica kept praying that Jaxon would be alive. She didn't like that he would die too soon. She closed her eyes, and she didn't even notice how Ava and James were talking with each other.
When she was done praying, she waited for the doctor to tell her the news about what happened to Jaxon. She hoped that Jaxon would make it.
“Who is the relative of the patient?” The pack doctor came, and he seemed serious while he was looking at Veronica.
“I am.” Veronica felt embarrassed to tell that she was Jaxon's mate. She didn't like to disclose the information that she and Jaxon had been together for several years.
“There is a poison in the arrow that they use. It seems that someone is trying to erase his memory.” The doctor reported that made her stunned because that was what happened to her when she got the arrow. She could still remembered that the hand was the cause of losing her memories.
”There is a possibility that he might lose his memories. It's better if someone will take care of him. He will keep asking some random things, and act like a clueless man.” the doctor added and explained everything to them. Veronica cried again when she remembered how painful it was when she didn't have her memories.
She closed her eyes, and tried to think what she needed to do. Jaxon would be think that he was stupid for losing his memories because of her.
“He's still in coma. Are you sure that you it's fine with you if you will be with him? I will talk to Dad, and he's fine with it.” Ava mumbled that, made her stunned for a moment. She couldn't believe that her father would let her stay in Jaxon's pack while Jaxon was slowly recovering.
She didn't know what Ava had done to make them agreed but she was thankful. Jaxon didn't have a family that would stayed with him so she was the one who volunteered herself especially since she was blaming herself why Jaxon had experience those hellish things with her.
“Veronica, you don't need to blame yourself. We are always with you. We will try to visit you in Jaxon's pack if you he wake up.”
”Of course, he will wake up, Ava. He's not dead.”
Ava cleared her throat. Veronica wasn't too easy to read, which made her more agitated. She didn't like that she couldn't predict what Veronica had been saying to her.
”I thought you wanted to do your revenge. Why are you acting like he didn't even cause to hurt you? Veronica, I want to tell you that being with him will be your biggest downfall.”
“He's the father of Morgan. We were together when Morgan was with us. Maybe I can continue my revenge when he's fine. Ava, I know how it feels to lose a memory and try everything to remember it.”
“Are you sure that it's only about his memories? It seems that there is another reason, too. Veronica, inform me if you need anything else.”
Veronica waited for Jaxon to wake up. It took her two weeks when Jaxon woke up. Jaxon was different, he was too jolly, which was different that his true attitude.
“She's my wife?” Jaxon asked. He didn't even dare to remove their eye contact with her. He flashed a playful smirk before he chuckled. “She is beautiful.”
Veronica swallowed hardly. She could stop her heart from thumping too fast. Jaxon seemed so mesmerized by her look that he forgot that he was in the hospital.
The pack doctor talked to her alone and even explained what happened to Jaxon. He even suggested that Jaxon needed to avoid stress, and he needed to maintain his healthy lifestyle.
“Are you sure that you are my wife? I heard that some of the nurses has their marks yet. You don't have any.” Jaxon commented, but he didn't even remove his sight from Veronica's face.
Veronica swallowed hard. Jaxon was giving him an intense look. Jaxon seemed handsome even more despite that he had a dark and ruthless aura.
“We still didn't mark each other yet. We are still trying to know each other.” Veronica forced herself to smile but she failed. Her eyes fell on her cheeks, and Jaxon even saw it.
“Why are you crying, Veronica? I can't understand. You are so pretty, and I think that I'm too lucky to have you. Why I didn't even force you to get my mark? It seems my older self is too foolish. What if someone steals you from me?” Jaxon replied. He seemed lost, which made Veronica laugh at him.
“We planned to have a mating ceremony. It's me who is not ready. Don't stress yourself too much.”
“You are still not sure about me? I'm sure to make you my wife. I can't understand, Veronica. If you didn't want me, then what are you doing here?”
Jaxon's tone was hurt, which made Veronica stunned for a moment. She gulped and hugged Jaxon tightly. She closed her eyes to prevent herself from crying.
“Jaxon, we can discuss our mating ceremony once you remember everything.” She whispered.
“Veronica, I don't think that will happen. I didn't even know my name if you didn't even inform me about it. I felt that I was too stupid to lose my memories.”
“Did you even know that you are one of the powerful Alpha?”
“I think I'm so stupid for letting you go away from me. You are beautiful and have a good heart. And,” He paused, and cupped her face. Veronica widened her eyes. “I don't know why I feel that I wanted to kiss you. Wait, what is the meaning of kiss? Is that a good thing?”
Veronica chuckled. She enjoyed how innocent Jaxon was. She pursed her lips and kissed Jaxon on his lips. Jaxon's body froze as his eyes widened in an instant.
“That is the kiss that you are talking about. That's how you kiss someone.” Veronica taught him, but he stopped when Jaxon grabbed her nape and gave her a simple kiss. Her cheeks reddened in embarrassment.
She couldn't believe that she had been taking advantage of Jaxon. She licked her lips but she stopped when Jaxon kissed her again.
“What are you doing? You can't do that with other, do you understand?” She chuckled when Jaxon nodded like a good child.
”Okay, my kiss is only exclusive for you, Veronica. I will always kiss you until you finally remove the sadness in your eyes.” Jaxon uttered, and chuckled that made Veronica swallowed hardly.
