I stopped moving, as did Jaxon, and we both appeared oblivious to what Uriel said. Jaxon, however, was the first to regain his composure a split second later.
He hastily straightened his clothes and pants before opening the door while facing away from me. I, on the other hand, wrapped a quilt around my body before getting out of bed and looked for clothes.
As I got down, I almost tripped. My mind was racing for a reason as to where Morgan was when the door closed and Jaxon dashed out the door with Uriel. The fact that I didn't overhear any of their conversation but only their departure scared me the most.
Trembling, I grabbed a thin pair of pajamas with a moon motif because that was the first thing that caught my attention, didn't think twice about putting it on, and raced out of the room.
If Morgan was accompanied by numerous servants, how could he vanish? The sky was still high, the sun was still cruel, and there were undoubtedly numerous soldiers at each end of the territory's borders, so he couldn't just disappear without a trace.
"Are you stupid? How did you miss a kid? You're all fucking dumb!"
As I took a trip down the stairs, Gamma Betty's voice resounded in the living room.
"If you don't want us to be killed by Alpha, you must find him until you are completely out of breath. Do you get me?"
''Y-yes, Gamma!''
Before eventually descending, I heard scream after scream. However, the servants had already dispersed to search for Morgan when I arrived, so I was unable to speak with them— to ask what really happened.
Feeling my numb knees, I made an effort to stepped up despite my limited strength. I took a step toward Gamma, leaning on the wall for support.
I questioned her, gasping, "Gamma, didn't anyone indicate where he was last seen...?" My eyes were whirling a little and sweat was building on my forehead.
"They claimed he had been playing outside earlier, but when the servant turned around to fetch a drink, he vanished without a trace."
Gamma seemed to notice my tired eyes as I strained to speak, "Didn't the guards detect anything unusual when they let someone in at the main gate?"
"Why don't you recover first, let us do the search because the Prince is certainly simply playing in the forest."
I could hear the small worry in her voice, but it was not in my heart not to look for Morgan.
I shook my head in disapproval and then recalled what Helene had told me, the night of Moon Festival. She might be one of the perpetrators of what was happening, which worried me. But I didn't want to speak now without enough justification.
"I'll go outside first, Gamma, and assist with the search."
"But aren't you still not feeling well?"
"I won't put myself first instead of worrying about where my child is right now. There is more going on here than just a typical game of hide and seek. I'm not sure who to believe now that there are so many individual obstructing our path only because his father is choosing to be with us."
I wanted to say those lines to her but instead, I turned around and didn't respond any longer.
As soon as I emerged outside the mansion, the sun's savage beams seared my eyes. Although I could see the other servants yelling out "Prince Morgan," no one paid attention to me. Perhaps they would do anything to find my son because they were petrified of Jaxon.
I didn't wait for them to notice me anymore. I started to venture and didn't want to put the blame on them for what had happened. I traveled to the furthest reaches of the forest, toward its interior. I was aware that going there was risky because there were undoubtedly many rogues that lurking around.
I was a rogue too, yet nasty rogues were still distinct from me.
When I entered the woodland, the sun's waves were entirely blocked by the trees. There were certain areas I couldn't see very clearly, but I had also started calling Morgan.
"Baby, where have you gone? We've been looking for you for quite some time now!"
"Morgan!"
"Baby!"
I kept calling for several hours without receiving a response; the only reaction I receive from the forest was the echo of my voice, despite the fact that I could feel my throat beginning to dry up from shouting.
My body grew weaker and weaker as a result of my shouting. Since I could already feel my eyes getting wet from the droplets of my thick sweat, I closed them.
The salt water in my forehead made me decide to take a break under the tree first.
Because of the strong wind that was rubbing against my skin, I also observed that the sky was growing darker and that it appeared that in addition to nighttime, rain was also approaching. Jaxon's mansion laid in the middle of a forest, and the largest sea visible on the globe was behind it, therefore frequent storms were to be expected.
I finally leaned my back against the tree's trunk and bit my lip. I partially closed my eyes and tried to control the bizarre feelings that were coursing through me.
Never before had Morgan and I been separated for so long. To claim that he vanished without a trace would be like chopping out my heart with a chainsaw while it was still beating.
He is my life...
Where are you Morgan...
I wouldn't be groping around like this if only my wolf had awoken. If only...My search would have been faster if I had my wolf with me.
I had been worthless ever since.
Perhaps for this reason, ever since we were young, my parents had frequently praised Ava. All things considered, she always succeed and excell. She might have held the reign of Shadow Moon for a very long time now if I hadn't been the firstborn— well, she had it now.
The sound of the tall grass rustling just across from the tree I was sitting on broke up my train of thought. As a result, I got up from my seat and took a good stance in anticipation of the potential attack.
The rustling grew louder and I could hear footsteps as the time passed. I cautiously moved toward the grass to investigate the fluttering as it persisted.
As I was pondering what was behind it, I swallowed so many times that I lost track. I also didn't look away from it because my heart couldn't register the pulse. My hands were likewise sweaty on the palms.
After a few more seconds, I took another swallow and prepared to open the tall grass. However, before I could do that—
"Mommy!"
I was stopped by the voice— a familiar voice, to be exact.
I had wide eyes as I peered behind me and wasn't prepared for who I saw with Morgan. My forehead frowned with my eyes narrowed, not believing it at all.
"Pale guy?" I confusedly asked.
