Covet Me, My Heartless Alpha Chapter 24

*cough* cough* cough*

I was coughing for a week now, after admitting to Jaxon how my heart truly felt on that stormy night. The next day, I developed a fever, but I didn't alert him. Although I was feeling a little better now, I was still suffering from chills and runny noses, as well as a cough that felt like it would to tear my lungs out.

Now that he visited “OUR” room after a week of not coming out, I couldn’t hide it anymore. “Why you didn’t tell me? I could’ve asked the doctor and have a quick scanned to you.”

“I told you, stop making a big deal out of it. I’m really fine.”

He glanced at me intently as if he was trying to figure out whether I was telling the truth. At the end, he could only sigh when he saw no trace of deception in my eyes. Latterly, he said his last retort. “It is impossible for me to be mistaken because Black can trace every feelings you are feeling. Even you’re wolf-less, you are connected to me. “Your sweet fragrance slowly fading, significance of your weakness.” I didn’t react but I observed him raising his hand to check my temparatue. “Veronica, from the night you told me about your feelings—”

Jaxon wasn't able to finish his line when I pushed him too hard. I didn't want to think about those things anymore. I avoided eye contact with him and spoke, "Alpha Jaxon, I'm begging. Regardless of what you say, I have no desire of hearing them for now.”

"Don't play silly games with me, Veronica," he used his baritone voice to address my name and he showed his red eyes that could cut through everything.

Because of that, I felt a little fear and broke out in a cold sweat as I proclaimed, "I am tired. If you have nothing more to say, you can leave now."

"Leave?!"

He was driven to total and utter rage by my unequivocal rejection. He passed dissatisfied over my body as it was covered in white comforter. The gauze wrapped around like a skirt, leaving just my shoulder blades exposed.

"Jaxon..." I breathlessly called but he stepped toward me again, raised my chin, and his eyes penetrated my soul.

"You have pale skin today, Veronica. Similar to the skin of a newborn infant. It is so delicate that it may be damaged simply by blowing on it," he said as he sat on the bed but not leaving my eyes. "Yeah... I remembered it now. This skin that slept with me that night."

On the other hand, I seemed to had just stepped out of the shower since I had a few drops of sweat wandering over my skin as I crammed myself on the headboard of the bed.

"You looked so alluring and seductive that you could have stolen anyone's soul." Jaxon was now playing with my hair. The muscles in his neck contracted all of a sudden. "Your fragrance is sweeping throughout my body. It's the deadly scent and dehumanizing smell again," he mumbled.

"Stop it," I gritted my teeth and clench my palm.

I didn't want to be carried by his words. The rejection I felt that night was enough to be the reason to move on.

"No... The smell is not odd; it smells like a fresh berry, and a sweet white rose that I wanted to taste until I was full. It was making me crazy."

"I don't know what you want to prove right now, but I'm begging you, Alpha..."

He shifted his focus and glanced down, seeing my body sweating more heavily, to the point where it was progressively soaking the white gauze. Suddenly, he saw a black surgical scar emerging under the gauze covering my flat belly.

"The stretch marks... is it because of your giving birth to Morgan?" He interrogated and I saw the gentle of his eyes.

I instinctively stretched out with one hand to cover my lower tummy and didn't answer him. There was no reason for me to answer that. It was already in the past.

"I want to check it out, Veronica." Jaxon towering figure moved closer.

"Check it?" I was startled and stuttered, "Alpha, p-please don't come any closer."

"Why? Are you scared of me?"

He moved closer and closer, exuding a mighty and terrible aura, looking at me as if he had discovered a prey, which indicated that he intended to indeed skin and eat me alive.

"What do you want to do? Don't bother coming c-closer." I continued to back away from the situation until I reached the edge bed's headboard and had nowhere else to go.

He got down on one knee, placed one hand on the bed's headboard, and used his tall frame to cover my whole body.

His presence entirely hid me.

"Check it," he spoke two sentences and looked at me directly in my green eyes, using his extraordinarily dark red eyes as if I were already stripped off.

"You don't need to be that near to check it," I was frantic with fear, just seeing those red eyes that seemed ready to devour me. I had no idea what was with me, it just... I had no reason in seeing him.

The memories of that silent rejection and the fact that he had remaining love for Helene made my heart pang.

"So... This is already "close" for you?" He smirked and taunted me more, "Veronica, don't you know that the term 'close' applied only when a man and a woman had intercourse?"

"What kind of crap are you talking about?" My cheeks became scarlet, "P-please, move away—Hmph!"

The man's thin lips blocked my words, and even before I could speak a word in protest, the white gauze covering my body was pulled away.

Using his powerful and hot body, he swiftly pushed and pressed me down, which caused the temperature in the room to rise even more.

'My mate...'

I was dumbfounded when something purred into my mind. Nonetheless, before I could ponder what was it, Jaxon spread my legs and licked me down "there," up to my round chest.

As Jaxon was ready to insert his manhood and claim me again by biting my neck, suddenly—

"Alpha, Morgan has gone!"
