Covet Me, My Heartless Alpha Chapter 27

Jaxon's Point of View

"Watch out, Veronica!"

As the piercing arrow slowly swept through her flesh chest, it gave me a stark feeling. I was able to discern out very clearly how the thick blood trickled as though the droplets were impatiently descending on the ground.

As a result of the impediment, the atmosphere around me slowed down, and the distance that separated the two of us appeared to be getting closer. The gradual collapse of her figure seemed to be proceeding in reverse time. And before I had time to process what was occurring, an arm reached out and grabbed her before her body had a chance to fall to the ground entirely.

"What the frack are you doing? Move! You f*cking idiot!" I was jolted awake by Veron's thunderous shriek.

My eyes widened as the events surrounding Veronica flooded my mind. Plus, I caught the fragrance of the rogues that were around as I turned to examine where the arrow had come from. When I accidentally peered at Helene, I noticed that she was unwilling to make eye contact with me. Nonetheless, before I could get agitated with her, I heard a rustle coming from farther away.

"Black!" I once again beckoned to my wolf and shifted. "Let's go!"

As fast as I could, I flipped over onto my back, which was where I heard the break. I had no doubt that was the reason that appealed to Veronica. As I raced, I was at a loss to express the peculiar anxiety that I was experiencing; my throat felt dry, and my fingers were trembling slightly. I couldn't swallow properly, my ribcage was similarly twisted in its many nooks and crannies.

Black purred, "Calm down, Jaxon. Your pulse doesn't seem good."

"How the f*ck am I supposed to relax! Even in this distance, I can hear Morgan bawling because of seeing Veronica in such bad shape!" My rage was out of control and I couldn't stop it. In addition, I was hesitant which direction I should be concentrating on… but I was confident. “Whoever was responsible for what happened to Veronica has to die. I’ll kill them!”

"If you don't find a way to calm down, the same thing that took place before will just continue to happen."

What Black had to say left me speechless. ‘How much longer am I supposed to spend digging for that sin? How much longer do I need to keep my shadow from the past, which is something I still blame myself for?’

"Do you also blame me?" I inquired of Black in an indifferent manner.

He did not respond to what I had to say. The malice that I felt deep inside my heart had only managed to win out. Everyone was honest; if it weren't for me, none of my parents would have had to accept death. They may still be alive today if I hadn't put my animosity and love for Helene ahead of everything else.

That was right… Helene was formerly a member of our pack's servants. Because she was an Omega, it was typical for members of other packs to have a condescending attitude toward them. But back then I was different; I saw them all as being on an equal footing.

My interest toward Helene started when I realized that I did not see them as being beneath me since they were fair and not inferior. She said that she had no memory of her birth parents since she had been abandoned in the woods until an Omega found her and raised her.

After the passing of her adoptive parents, she was left to live on her own until she came upon our pack. My sentiments for her may have been more intense as a result of my sympathy for her. However, that love didn't stand the test of time.

When my parents discovered it, they attempted to divide Helene and I from each other. The fact that I was their successor and that they were the leaders of our pack made it appropriate for a royal with Alpha blood to be my mate.

They had Helene leave the pack house against her will, but I accompanied her anyway due to my immaturity and my impulsive love for her. I had no idea that my stubbornness would end up being the cause of the disaster for both them and my pack.

"I can't smell them anymore," my thoughts were interrupted by what Black said. Along with the steadily increasing frequency of the rain's pitter patter, he gradually slowed down his sprinting.

"Impossible! We have to find them!"

"Are you going to prioritize it above the condition of your mate? Jaxon, you need to get yourself together. We're far beyond the point of frivolity here. It's not a child's play anymore." I was silenced by what Black said. But before I could answer, he spoke again, "Do you remember what happened before? You also pushed on getting what you wanted right up until the opposing pack of your parents captured you."

"I graved too! I did not like what happened—"

"And nobody likes what has happened in history! Your parents' deaths may have been avoided if you hadn't accepted Helen's love."
