"What?" Veronica stared up at Jaxon, stunned.
Jaxon stared at her intensely, revealing a touch of uncontrollable desire. He must admit that this woman has an unparalleled attraction to him. Instead of suppressing his impulses, he would let her become his official mate, and if he became tired of her, he would find the superior Gamma. For the time they’ll separate, he will ask them to remove his mark on her. “It's not too much trouble to be mine. I will make your dream a reality along with our son."
"You made a mistake," Veronica remarked after staring at him blankly for a few seconds. She has no intention of relying on him for status or rank.
“Don't you want it? To be officially the Luna of Dark Blood Pack!" Jaxon ignored her, his eyes lofty, as if he were bestowing favors on her. This is already his most significant concession and kindness to her.
Veronica was rendered speechless. 'Does this madman believe that the ultimate purpose of all women is to become his mate or concubine?'
Seeing that she was silent, Jaxon thought he had revealed why she came here. He moved closer to her and bowed his head to kiss her. It's been a long time since he wanted to taste the sweetness of her lips again. Veronica's back was against the floor-to-ceiling window, preventing her from retreating or fleeing.
"Jaxon, I believe you made a mistake. What I want to speak about is about you constantly asking Uriel to question me—mMmp"
Jaxon's thin lips dropped and cut her off with his voice full of displeasure. "Why are you so hypocritical?"
Veronica quickly realized she couldn't speak to him rationally. She felt insulted and did not open her lips, yet Jaxon continued. “All right, if you become my mate, I will make you the most powerful woman with all the authority. You will become royal and the well-known bride of the most powerful Alpha Jaxon."
"Hah!" Veronica let out an unbelievably sigh.
"Veronica, I can also make you a well-known woman. I’ll give you millions of mone and favors every month. You will be renowned long after you die. Such temptations will be impossible for any woman to resist. I will give you all this if you obey me! You'd best take it while I'm still interested in you." Jaxon is an expert at negotiating and wants the other side to realize enough is enough. "That's your price, don't be too greedy."
Generally speaking, the deal would be done quickly. Jaxon was sure of it. He leaned near her, caressed her cheek with his thin fingers, and discovered that a teardrop on her lashes was attractive. He lowered his head to her once more but—
"Aren't you taking any medication for your symptoms?" Veronica suddenly asked coldly. “You’re paranoid. You tormented me in numerous ways to compel me to say I'm not having memory lost. And you thought I was a cunning lady.”
"What exactly did you say?" Jaxon's face and eyes reddened unexpectedly.
"You should take medication, Alpha. Perhaps there are some cures for your paranoid disorder---ugh…!”
Jaxon raised Veronica by gripping her neck. His sharp claw sink in her flesh while she’s hardly pressed on the wall. In the next split second, he threw her to the ground, and she collided with the hard floor and felt a stinging agony from her inside organs.
"Do you realize you're playing with fire?" Jaxon flared at her as he stomped on her leg. He is an impatient and egotistical man, both of which are indicators of paranoia, but no one has ever laughed at him with this in front of him. “You, stupid woman, touch my bottom line.”
Veronica didn't make any sound. And it makes Jaxon stomp her more firmly on her leg. Uriel told her about his condition. He said Jaxon got his paranoid illness after the death of his pack and parents.
“Be grateful that I still have control,” Jaxon roared, removed her foot, and stormed out of the room.
On the other hand, Veronica lay still on the floor like a dead doll, and the sunset light is strewn over her body through the floor-to-ceiling windows. She is entirely expressionless.
After a long time, she sat up motionless on the plush couch in the big hall, her face colorless and numb. She lifted her skirt numbly, only to see a large bruise on her leg. She purposefully enraged Jaxon even though she knew she couldn't anger that neurotic person.
"Luna, you are a smart and dignified woman in my eyes. How could you…" Uriel paced in front of her, looking at her worriedly. He hadn't expected her to anger Jaxon, much alone ridicule him with his worst taboo. This went much above his expectations.
"How does he want to punish me?" Veronica's voice is still calm. She had no choice but to do that because Jaxon would not let her go lightly.
"Alpha instructed us to throw you into the wilderness. Do you know rogues are surrounding the forest, you can't run out, and there is no food and water, just seven days—" Uriel frowned.
"I'm going to die," Veronica finished his sentence. She expected Jaxon would not give up, but she didn't expect it to be so harsh. She seemed to have genuinely angered him.
But it doesn't matter... she was more worried about Morgan.
"You only have one opportunity right now, and that is to surrender to the Alpha. That is your only chance—"
"May I make one more phone call before I die?"
"Luna, you know that—"
"I know. It's pointless to seek help. I want to make one final call." Veronica bravely said, lifting her eyes and pleadingly looking at Uriel.
It's Veron she wanna contact.
Uriel gazed pityingly at her and ultimately groaned hopelessly, motioning for omega servant to give her a fixed phone, fulfilling her last demand.
Veronica sat on the couch, looking down at the old phone in front of her. She wants to raise her hands to grasp it. However, her hands were too heavy. She wasn't sure whether the person on the other end of the line would return her call this time. She carefully extended her hand to take up the phone and pushed her finger on the phone with a sequence of digits she could recite fluently.
Like waiting for centuries, the ring on the phone is long enough to kill the observers.
"Hello?" A slightly feminine male voice rang on the phone.
"Oh, he responded." She mumbled. Veronica nervously sat as if her soul was out of her body, and her body was empty now, only a heart beating chaotically, and the phone almost slipped from her grasp.
After a lengthy period of silence, the voice on the other line was impatient. "Who is it?"
"It's me," Veronica's voice trembled as she opened her lips. The air appeared to remain stagnant for a lengthy time of stillness. No one speaks as if they are trying to read the ambiance. Nonetheless, thinking the other person hadn't heard her voice, she gradually added, "It's me, Veronica."
"I recognize you but I warned you not to contact me again after Alpha Jaxon created a chaos. I don't want to cause any misunderstanding," Veron said flatly.
She learned about Veron through Morgan. Her son also gave her a contact details a week ago. Veron probably gave it to Morgan. However, when she called him, he denied her and said not to contact him again.
Veronica can feel his impassive attitude from thousands of miles away. She listened blankly, unsure how to approach him for help, "Veron–"
"It's impolite of you to refer to me by my nickname. After all, I am the only son of the Alpha King. You should call me Prince," Veron remarked sharply..
Veronica pursed her lips angrily before asking, "Would you come to my rescue if I claimed I was hurt by him right now?"
