The situation progressed as they had expected, the ghosts haunted them for the entire night.
They received their memories, " This feels like watching a film." Vincent commented trying to touch empty air.
Sane knew he was trying to touch the memories of the ghost, she too was experiencing them.
Vincent looked at her and noticed her fists were clenched, she was trying to hide it but she’s been hooked.
She was already sympathising with the ghost, " You need to close off your emotions." He warmed her.
Sane looked at him and gritted her teeth," Not everybody is as heartless as you, I can’t just close off my emotions.
There’s no on and off switch okay." She sounded irritated.
" Then you’ll die." He answered flatly and yawned, his eyes were already starting to close.
She gritted her teeth because she knew he was right but it was not as easy as he was making it out to be.
" Have they answered yet?" She asked, her only hope was their creator now. Sane like most other Werewolves believed that man could do anything.
Vincent shook his head, " I told you, this region is closed off, the message barely managed to go through.
It will be delayed, they’re unlikely to receive it until tomorrow, anyways, I’m going to sleep." He closed his eyes and slept.
Sane looked at the time, it was 4 am, the sun would rise soon then she would look for a way out of here.
She didn’t want to leave while it was dark, it was well known that dead spirits were stronger during the night.
She tried to sleep but she couldn’t close her eyes, the wails of the woman in front of her made it hard to calm down.
" Damnit!" She cussed and threw a glass against the wall. Vincent raised his hand to say something then lowered it.
He didn’t speak but she understood the message not that she would listen, what right did he have to tell her to shut up.
She sat back down and decided to no longer avoid this, she sunk her mind into the story of this girl.
Her name was Amahle, 23 years old and had just started her job as a nurse. She had a sick mother at home.
This job was her hope, with her salary she could at least afford to buy her mother the medication she needed.
Amahle worked hard, harder than her colleagues and her superiors noticed but she was young and new.
So she didn’t receive any increase in salary or promotion but she was fine with that, one day she would.
A month went by and her first salary landed in her bank account. To others, it might not have been much but to her.
Amahle had never seen four digits on a bank account except on television, she grew up poor.
Seeing nearly 15 000 on her back account she couldn’t help but shed tears, finally she could buy her mother the medication she needed.
And have enough to spoil her after, she left her work with a smile, there was a pharmacy next to the hospital.
Technically it was the same building so she didn’t even have to walk far, she bought medication and left.
It was already dark out, normally she would walk back home even in the dark because she never had the money for a taxi.
It wasn’t much of an issue since their town was not that large, her house was no more than 7 kilometres away from her work.
But today she decided to take a taxi, there were no taxis at this time so she requested it online.
’ I need to buy a new phone.’ Amahle thought with a smile while looking at her cellphone with a large crack.
The taxi would take five minutes to get to her so she needed to wait alone in the dark for that long.
Amahle felt strange, she usually walked around 7 kilometres in the dark by herself but tonight she felt scared.
She kept checking her phone to see how far away the taxi was, ’ Only one minutes away.’ she stood in the cold waiting.
After some time she saw two head lights heading her way. ’ Thank god it’s here.’ she waved at the car.
But when it got close she noticed there was a problem, it was not a taxi but a black car with dim windows.
Amahle took a step back and the car stopped in front of her. The windows rolled down and a man looked at her.
She could feel his eyes undressing her, it made her extremely uncomfortable. " Need a lift?" The man asked.
She shook her head, " No thank you, I’m waiting for somebody, he’ll be here soon." She answered.
The other windows slowed down and she saw more men in the car, Amahle got terrified.
Suddenly she received a notification telling her her taxi had cancelled. This made her shiver.
That taxi was her last hope, these men kept looking at her. " You’re sure you don’t need a lift, we can take you directly to your house."
She could feel him trying to sound sincere but that just made her even more wary of him.
" Yeah it’s okay, my boyfriend will be here soon, it’s fine." She smiled trying to look confident.
The man nodded, " Okay but women have been disappearing lately, if you don’t mind, we could stand here until your boyfriend arrives, to make sure it’s safe."
Amahle knew her cover had been blown but she couldn’t come up with an excuse so she just nodded before she realised it.
She didn’t want to provoke them, they got out and stood not far away from her chatting with each other.
Sometimes they would try to talk to her but she would just smile softly and turn around, it seemed they got the hint.
Amahle was just praying somebody comes along and rescue her, her prayers were answered.
Before long a car stopped in front of them and a woman around Amahle’s age came out smiling.
" Hey bestie, sorry we’re late, hey gentlemen, thank you for looking out for her, god knows how unsafe it is out here for us women."
The young woman spoke to the men, they looked at Amahle, Amahle smiled and hugged the woman back.
She got in the car and waved at the men before the car drove off. Inside she sighed with relief.
" Thank you, I don’t know what I would’ve done had you not come." She thanked the three women in the car.
The driver just smiled, " Don’t sweat it, us ladies should look out for each other."
Back in front of the hospital gate, the men looked at each other. " They definitely don’t know each other those ones."
" Not at all."
" Do you think she was scared of us?" One of the four men asked.
" It’s possible, you do look like a predator after all."
" Fuck you.". They laughed and got back in their car.
