I shifted my attention to the empty plate in front of me and jagger, slapping down my pavé au poivre. It was not a particularly impressive plate- a hunk of meat, fat-fried potatoes piled carelessly to one side. But something happened as I sliced the first bite- no resistance, none at all. The knife slid through the meat; the thinnest layer of crusty brown opening to reveal a pulpy red heart. I watched as the pink juices puddling into the buttery pepper sauce.
" Hey, guys Why are you sitting so carefree like that? Did you not hear ma'am went into jasper's room and what we are going do before ma'am found out he wasn't in his room." Emily said which shift everyone's attention to her.
" Where is he?" I asked her.
" Do you care to know?" Benny taunts me and I don't know what this guy's problem was with me. I was the one who got attacked by his brother and he was still showing me the attitude. This is bullshit.
" Benny, stop it! it's not the right time to bite each other off. We have got a problem." Emily told Benny.
" What do you want us to do? You knew nothing hides from ma'am. And if you love your life then just sit and have your meal." jagger told Emily but he was interrupted by Ray.
" Don't be rude to her! and Emily I can help you. I can use my power to show ma'am that Jasper is in his room."
" Ray, I know you can use your power but I can't put you in trouble. And you don't even know how to fully use your power. I can't take that risk." Emily pretty much said no to Ray.
" But I want to do that. We can't just sit here and do nothing. Trust me, I can do that." Ray said to change Emily's mind. And I can see the determination in his eyes, just like Caden.
" I think, Ray is right. We should give him a chance." I said.
" WHO ARE YOU TO DECIDE? STAY OUT OF THIS! IT'S HAPPENED ALL BECAUSE OF YOU. YOU HAVE DONE SOMETHING TO MY BROTHER THAT'S WHY HE TURNED INTO SOMETHING WHICH HE IS NOT!" Benny yelled at me defending his brother's wrong actions by falsely accusing me. And I had enough of this shit. I just can't pretend that it doesn't hurt. All my life, people around me just took advantage of my weakness and I need to find my voice to speak for myself or this world will devour me alive.
" Enough is enough! I am not just sitting here and taking this shit! I was the one who was attacked by your brother. And you are accusing me of it. Are you out of your mind?" I replied to him in a harsh tone and threw the knife and fork on the table in rage. . .
" It was all your fault! you are the sole reason why he turns into the monster." He slammed his fist on the table. Benny accused me of something which I had never done.
" Enough of your cat fighting and you two shut your mouth. We are in crisis right now and you two thinking selfishly." Emily ended the argument between us and told Benny to leave the dining room.
" I also don't want to present in the same room as her." He said while looking at me His mouth would have given despair to even the drollest of fools; it was a mouth made for frowns and scowls and sharply worded commands, all thin pale lips, and clenched muscles, a mouth that had forgotten how to smile and had never known how to laugh
He got up from his chair and stormed out of the dining room and I was so irritated by his mean and rude behavior that I couldn't just stand. I wiped my lips using the napkin which was on my lap and quickly got up from my seat.
" Enjoy your meal, everyone," I said Emily tried to stop me but I didn't stop because I couldn't stand against this much negativity around me.
I left the dining room to go outside and get some air because I was feeling suffocating inside.
I made my way outside of the house to go for a little walk and the rain has stopped.
