Fated Tó The Evil Viking Chapter 139

Thor's POV

After dinner, Eric and I went to his new room which is now closer to mine in the second wing. I had his room changed because I know I wont be able to sleep peacefully with the thought of him sleeping so far away from me at the first wing.

We stayed up late into the night, talking about everything but pack business. I make sure he falls asleep before sneaking out of his room to mine.

I heave a sigh of relief the moment my head touch the pillow,

"Finally, it's over." I say

The days following Eric's attack were scary and nerve-wracking. At first, even though I was surprised when the EMT told me he had been bitten by a vampire, I wasn't worried about it since we've always trained with vampire venom. All that I was worried about and wanted to do was to quickly get him to the hospital so something could be done about his arm so he would be able to heal properly.

I stayed by his bedside till a few hours later, when we expected his healing to have been completed but to our utmost dismay, instead of him healing himself and getting better, his arm became infected and began to fester.

Doctor Anders, who comes from a prestigious family of renowned healers is the best in his field. His prowess as a medical doctor and herbalist is well known all over the Scandinavian countries. It took me a lot before I was able to employ his service solely for myself.

That was why I was surprised that with all his skills and experience, he couldn't do anything to neutralize the venom that he said was slowly damaging Eric's organs. He couldn't even identify the venom after taking Eric's blood sample and doing some testing on it.

In his words, 'he has treated many patients that were bitten by vampires but have never come across anything like the venom that was injected into Eric. Yes, he used the word injected because he didn't believe the venom inside Eric's bloodstream came from a vampire.

The venom was not only a mystery to Anders after studying it for days, but it was also a mystery to the South American Venom Research Unit. My heart literally sank to my stomach with fear of losing my best friend when Anders got a call from them, saying they would like to know how he comes about the venom since they have never come across such before.

I didn't believe Victoria when she told me she believed the rogue that bit Eric was not just a vampire but a hybrid. I didn't believe it because everybody knows mating between vampires and werewolves was banned by both worlds and all countries had been purged of their offspring a long time ago because of how dangerous and unstable they are.

Of course, there's some kind of thrill that comes with tasting the forbidden fruit. Despite the ban, even though some of us still find our way around having sex with each other, we know it can never be nothing but the sex. What's the use of producing offspring that will end up being killed by not just the government but the society. What's the use of having the whole of your family suffer for your foolishness when you're discovered for breaking the law.

Hybrids have gone extinct many years before I was born and her telling me she believed the vampire was a hybrid is no different from if she tells me she saw a dinosaur. That's ridiculous.

How could she even tell he was a hybrid? You could tell a vampire apart from humans and werewolves by their pale skin and unusual smell. How could she tell a hybrid apart when there was literally nothing to distinguish them apart from us, unless of course if she saw him shift to his wolf form which he didn't according to what we saw from the tower's CCTV feed. All that I saw of Eric's attacker was a tall figure wearing a black hooded cape that had his face expertly hidden from the camera.

"How can I treat what I don't understand?" Anders helplessly asked me after a week that Eric had been unconscious. He was even reasonable enough to admit that all he could do for Eric was to keep him comfortable for as long as it will take his body system to finally shot down and die

I became crazy with worry after hearing what he said. I can still feel the huge empty space inside me that was caused by the fear that constantly gnawed at my inside. Fear of losing Eric, my brother, and best friend. Fear of what my life would be like without him in it.

It was out of desperation that I decided to accept what Victoria said. Problem was, how do we get a hybrid's antivenom? With the Hybrid's extinction, their antivenom also became scarce and there was no way to make more. It took us two days before we finally got information about a local eccentric who also happens to be a recluse living inside a forest in West Africa.

According to Henrik and Ivar that I sent to Africa to get the antivenom no matter how much it cost. The recluse surprisingly owned a wide array of venoms ranging from the venoms from exotic snakes to vampires and hybrids venoms from different countries in the world together with their antivenoms.

I was the happiest when Henrik and Ivar returned from their journey with different well-labeled vials. Our happiness was immediately dashed when none of the anti-venoms that we got from the recluse worked on Eric. Not even after Anders made another antivenom from the venom brought from Africa.

Even after we've explored all options and it seemed death was imminent, I refused to give up on him and accept death as the only solution. The only option I was left with was my gift. Years ago I discovered I have the gift to heal which was a secret between Eric and me.

The healing gift, I discovered by mistake when I was able to make disappear a small scrape on a little girl's leg and also on Eric's knuckles when we were testing if I indeed have the gift to heal or if it was just an illusion

Scrapes, cuts, and scratches were all that I knew my healing powers could cover after putting it to the test years ago. I just recently found out I can do more when we ran out of options as to how to save Eric's life. Now my little secret is no longer a secret. Anders and my team are all aware I healed Eric with my blood.

God, I'm glad it's finally over. Eric will live! But now I still can't sleep. I thought I would be able to since Eric is now okay but it seems my body has readjusted itself to stay wide awake at night and only doze during the day.

So when my phone suddenly start to ring, even though I'm angry and wonder who might be calling me by that time of the night, I still get out of bed to answer it since I can't sleep anyway.

I pick up the phone from where I left it on the table earlier and see from the caller ID that the number isn't stored on my phone. I should ignore the call and even block the unknown number but I swipe the answer button out of curiosity and lack of sleep.

"Who is this?" I ask

"I'm sorry Alpha, it's Victoria. I would like to come over if you don't mind."
