I started to get angry at him. I stand up from where I was sitting and start to pace from one end of my room to the other to walk off my anger. I also want to angrily talk back at him for making me feel as if I'm lagging in my duties as Thor's beta but I strongly hold back.
I understand the fact that it's in all our nature, shifters and humans alike to stay on the sidelines, judging and thinking we could do a better job in a situation that other people find themselves in. Making statements like; Why couldn't you have done that or it wouldn't have been this bad if you had done this...
Uncle Knox has been fulfilling the role of a father to me ever since the death of my parents. Even though we were sent to live in Denmark with Elias, Thor's Alpha uncle. Uncle Knox insisted on paying for our tuition and upkeep. He would have paid for feeding and lodge if Alpha Elias had not put his foot down
After I'd forced myself to calm down, I tried to see things from his point of view. He's old now and has been through a lot in his life, lost most of the people he loved along the way. If I can't bear the thought of losing Thor, I can imagine what the feeling would be like for him. How he would feel and bound to react at the mere thought of losing his beloved son
I also wonder how he would react and what he would say once I told him his friend's daughter was the bitch that used sorcery on Thor
"It was Miranda, Uncle... The woman's name is Miranda" I answered his first question about who the woman was
"Miranda? Am I supposed to know who that is?" He asks in the same manner
"Yes sir.."
"I know her?" He asked back in disbelief then silence. I guess he's thinking about the name and who it's attached to.
"The only Miranda I know is Nate's little girl. Apart from her, I don't know any other lady bearing Miranda I'm afraid." He replies, his voice no longer laced with anger
I feel sorry for him right then because it's another burden for him to shoulder. Another betrayal for him to stomach. First his Beta, now his friend. I would have shielded him from the truth if I had to but he insisted on finding out the truth by himself.
"Uncle, I'm afraid it's the same Miranda we're talking about. Alpha Nate's daughter."
He laughs
"No, that can't be possible, c'mon Eric! Do you even know who Nate's daughter is? Can you recognize her if you see her?" He asks and laughs again.
"Nate will never do that to my son! He loved Thor like he was his son and would never hurt him. You know he once asked me to allow both of you to come stay with him instead of sending you to Denmark. I didn't allow it because I felt you both should go as far away from Evelyn as possible. You just don't know Nate as much as I do Eric"
"Okay, Uncle. I understand how you feel about this but I'm telling you the truth. Although I can't say for sure if Alpha Nate and his Luna are involved in this or not, the truth is, Miranda, your friend's daughter used sorcery on Thor and it's what's making him go feral
"Oh, goddess!..." He replies tiredly like the truth just dawned on him.
"But why? I don't understand. She was such a sweet girl. What happened to her? Why would she even do that!? It couldn't be because she wants to be Luna or could it?..." He asks but answers his own question
"No, it couldn't. She can be the Luna when her parents retire since they don't have a male heir. Are you getting me, Eric?..."
"Yes Uncle"
"I'm trying to understand her motive for doing what she did to Thor... She has never met Thor before so we can't say she has fallen in love with him! I don't know— if she didn't do it because she had fallen for Thor and didn't do it because she wanted to be Luna then why? Why would she do it? Why would she use sorcery on a man that has already been mated?"
"I have a theory. I'm not sure but I guessed she did it to pay Ash back for what happened between them."
"Pay Ash back for what? What happened between them then? Do they know each other? Did the both of them used to be friends?"
"Yes, they know each other and no, they're far from being friends. Ash worked as an Omega maid in Night-Howler's pack and..."
No, Eric, pause..." He says, cutting me off mid-sentence "An Omega maid!? But Thor's mate can't be Omega. The seer said she's Alpha."
"She's Alpha, Uncle be rest assured. But it's a long story and I don't want us to get distracted..."

"The enmity between them started because of a boy Miranda like that Ash was talking to. Thor and I witnessed it happen. Miranda and her friends accosted Ash intending to teach her a lesson but the table was turned. They fought and Ash kicked her arse... All their arses in plain view of everyone"
"Oh! And so she felt stealing her mate was the right thing to do? The right way to take her revenge? She robbed my son of his happiness and made him go feral because of a stupid fight over a boy!?..." He was beginning to get angry again
"What about Nate? Is he aware of this yet?"
"No! We haven't said anything to him yet. If not for Martha, your old maid, who advised us to speak to you first. Regardless of the relationship between you too, we would have declared war on his pack. We would have burned the whole place down! Like you, Martha insisted Alpha Nate couldn't be involved in this. She thought Miranda acted on her own."
"I'm grateful to her but what is her involvement in this? Did she also know Thor had gone feral?" He asked worriedly.
It's funny how he let Martha in on the news of being alive but didn't want her to know about Thor's situation. I understand his worry. If the news of Thor going feral gets out. Thor would be held in a special magical prison that is controlled by witches. The kind of prison that he would never be able to break out from till he either gets better or goes rabid after which they'll sentence him to death.
