Diana scowled. She walked over and opened the tent, it was Yolanda. She had a smirk on her face.
"Romance on duty, how nice."
Diana scoffed. "Like you're one to talk."
"What do you mean?"
"I didn't have to force myself on him, he came to me by himself, and I still stopped him."
"You, however, look at you. You forced yourself on him and still dared to raise your voice."
Yolanda's face turned into a terrible scowl. She had only come to make sure Diana wasn't the one who caught them, but she had stumbled upon her and Theodore in a hot and steamy romance. She couldn't just bear to leave so she stayed all through. She must admit, if Jasyn ever said the words which Theodore had said to Diana to her, she would have melted right before him.
"Hmm." Diana hummed. "Such ugly cries you have."
Yolanda flared. "What do you mean by what?! What ugly cries?!"
Diana asked. "Darling, don't raise your voice at me. Whereas you caught Theodore and me kissing, of which you have zero proof. I caught you and the chief commander, Jasyn, having sex."
"And I didn't come alone." Diana winked at her. "So every thought you have of blackmailing me ends right now."
"I won't be alone when I tell tales," Diana said. "Even your troops heard you. And what the hell did Jasyn mean when he said... Oh, what was it again?"
She pretended to be in thought, tapping her chin as she thought. "Oh yeah! It was for you to be quiet since it would be bad if people found out you fucked Commander Jasyn. Commander Yolanda fucking commander Jasyn."
"Jeez, shut the fuck up!" Yolanda ordered. Diana glared at her.
"Don't order me about, Yolanda." She warned. "We are not on the same level."
"Yeah." Yolanda scoffed. "I'm higher than you are."
"Must probably be why you have a hunch back. I mean you must have been searching for me below for such a long time, not knowing I'm way above ya."
"Grr."
"Yolanda?" Theodore called in surprise as he came out. He had heard Diana speaking to someone and he didn't like how her tone was sounding, he somehow got protective of her and he was surprised to find Yolanda there.
"Oh look. Did you have a nice time fucking?" Yolanda asked, smirking at Theodore's surprised expression.
Theodore stuttered. "No no, I didn't... We didn't -"
"Please. She's only telling you the kind of question you should ask her, Theo." Diana said, staring hard at Yolanda.
"You won't dare-"
"Yolanda and Jasyn just had a nice time fucking each other," Diana said. "That's why she's so happy."
"But unfortunately, I can walk right into Jasyn's tent and cry to him that you bullied me and he would forget all about your little rendezvous and still scold you."
"Pft! You wish." Yolanda scoffed. "I could bet on it, bitch. Jasyn is mine now. You can settle for... Theodore."
Diana smirked. "Oh, I love bets like this, so easy to win. Five hundred gold coins."
Yolanda smiled. "Sure. Let's do it."
"Diana, I don't think you should do this," Theodore said. He was already feeling bad that she had bragged about another man's affection for her in his presence, almost as if she was disregarding him. He didn't like it one bit.
"Oh, that's too much to ignore, Theodore. Allow me please."
"Yes, Theodore." Yolanda mocked. "Allow her."
They marched towards Jasyn's tent and right up front, Diana raised Yolanda's arm and it came down heavily on her face. She screamed in pain. Jasyn ran out immediately to find Yolanda's palm on Diana's cheek. He swatted her hand away and saw how reddened the cheek was. He scowled.
"What happened?" He asked.
"Jasyn, the bitch tried to insult me, I had to put her in her place," Yolanda said proudly.
"Diana..." Jasyn said, sighing. Theodore felt anger rise within him and he immediately wanted to fight. Yolanda was already smirking in victory since she heard Jasyn call Diana.
Diana began to sob softly. "I'm sorry, I only tried to talk so calmly to her, I didn't think she would be offended but she just slapped me and she said there was nothing you could do about it."
Jasyn exhaled sharply. He could sense what was going on, and if it was as he expected, he would support Diana over Yolanda, forgetting about the fact that he had just mated with her.
"Yolanda, you shouldn't have slapped her. Just because you're a commander and she's not, doesn't mean you have the right to hit her whenever you please."
"Remember she's a special soldier, not one who anyone should lay hands on. You've done this before and I let you off."
"Now, however, I can't let you off. I'm afraid I will have to ask Diana to retaliate. Maybe this should teach you a lesson."
Yolanda's mouth came down in shock. Theodore would have smiled if not that he could see how Jasyn tried to put his good foot forward, toward Diana. He hated the fact that Jasyn was his head and could order him to do anything he wanted.
"Diana... Hit her back."
Diana shook her head. "I'm sure Commander Yolanda did not mean it, I'm sure she would apologize too. So I won't hit her."
Jasyn turned to glare at Yolanda. "Apologize."
"What? No! I can't apologize, Jasyn-"
"Commander Jasyn." He corrected. Yolanda glared at him as tears filled her eyes, threatening to spill. She turned and stormed off in anger.
"Diana, you have to"
"Um, I'm not gonna stand here and allow you to tell me what to do," Diana said. "I did catch you both in the act so it's going to take more than standing up for me and standing up to her, to get me to change my mind about you."
Jasyn sighed. "Did you have to do it before Theodore? Why is he even here? What are you doing here? Should you not be with your troop?"
Theodore smiled softly. "I was with them when I heard a little commotion going on between the two females, I tried to separate them but Yolanda insulted me. She said even you couldn't stop her from doing whatever she wanted to do."
"I had to come here to make sure she was saying the truth or to know if she was lying."
Jasyn didn't believe him, but his explanation was plausible. "If so then you may return to your tent. Ask the soldiers to get ready, our enemies have not returned, meaning they will be waiting for us to war at the expected time."
"It's two days from now," Theodore said.
"So we leave tomorrow. We don't want to be caught off guard." Jasyn said. Theodore nodded, saluting him. He glanced at Diana before he left.
"Stop holding your cheeks too tightly, I know it didn't hurt," Jasyn said softly. "I'm not the bad guy."
"That's like a wolf telling a lamb to trust him," Diana commented. Jasyn was somewhat shocked. The idea of using a wolf instead of any other wild animal was too much of a wild guess.
"You're funny," Jasyn said. "Do you have strategies for the war? Perhaps if you spent less time trying to get back at Yolanda, you would be able to improve to a stage where Yolanda will never be a problem to you."
"Yolanda is not a problem to me, never was." Diana refuted. "And the day she becomes a problem, no matter how tiny of a problem she becomes, I will deal with her."
"In the same way I have dealt with all my problems in the past, I will deal with her again."
Jasyn nodded. "That's fine. you may go."
Diana saluted him and left. Once she returned to the room, she found the three girls back. They were all eager to know what had happened between Theodore and herself.
Jasyn watched her leave. He wanted to find out who exactly she was. There were so many things that seemed to happen around her. He had received various mails of threats to her and it was obvious that the sender was someone ruthless.
Was she on the run? If she was, how did the person find her location? The letters always seemed to come from Sunshine Town but the sender was royalty from what he could detect. The person was someone who couldn't and shouldn't be messed with.
If there was someone he could use to spy on her, who would it be?
"Sir, you sent it to me?"
"Yes, Julitta. Sit."
Julitta sat down, wondering what crime she had committed to having her summoned by the chief commander. Although since Diana came into the picture and she figured he had a soft spot for her, he had become less and less scary.
"How much do you know about Diana?"
"Oh," Julitta said. "Well, I knew her when we were on the train, she was going to the last stop and she didn't know where she was going. Being pregnant, she wanted a different craving for food."
"Which is?"
"Meat that was slightly undone."
Jasyn hummed. He wrote it down. "Go on."
"Well, I told her I lived here and I offered to help her settle down. Well, she proved to be a fierce woman who had been through a lot of suffering from a young age."
"Young age..."
"Yeah, so I believed the pregnancy was unplanned and when she figured she was pregnant, she left home."
"Are you so certain?" Jasyn asked.
Julitta shook her head. "Not at all. Every time I've asked, she always seemed too tortured to tell me about her past. I could only understand that it was a very uncomfortable place for her to visit."
"Does she have any friends in Sunshine Town?"
Julitta became uncomfortable. "Er, I think I heard her mention a lady that helped her during her travel on the train. The lady dropped at Sunshine Town and that's all I've heard her say about it."
"Are you sure Julitta?" Jasyn asked, staring into her eyes. "Tell me the truth."
Julitta was getting lost in his eyes and she could feel the pressure to confess everything she knew about Diana. She shook her head slowly.
"I'm sure. That's all I know."
Jasyn nodded. "Thank you for your time, you may go."
Julitta saluted him and left his tent. As soon as she left, she hurried to inform Diana of what she had heard. What Jasyn had asked her and the things she had answered him in return.
Jasyn sat down and the timid lady sat down before him, shivering in mild fright. The girl was almost excited to have been recognized by her chief commander but what did he want from her?
"Hello dear," Jasyn said with a smile.
"Good morning commander."
"Don't be afraid, I only want to ask you a few questions."
"Al...alright sir."
"Good. Now, what do you know about Diana?"
"Sir... I don't know much about her, I only know that she somehow has a thing with Commander Theodore."
"Really?"
"Y... Yes sir. Umm, last night he came to visit her in the tent and we all left her."
"Is that so?" Jasyn asked. He was getting angry. He knew that Theodore had lied to him about why he was with Diana and Yolanda. He smiled eerily.
"What else do you know about her?"
"I heard her say something like she was in love with her baby's father."
"Oh. But she never mentioned who he was?"
"No sir, she never mentioned him."
"Not even where he came from?" Jasyn probed.
"Not that I've heard."
"Do you know any friend from Sunshine Town?"
"Sunshine town... Umm, yes! I heard her say that her friend from Sunshine Town was the one who taught her to make delicious pies!"
"Is that so?" Jasyn stroked his chin. "So her baby's father is not from Sunshine Town?"
"I don't know sir but... I heard she is from a distant place called Wisteria."
Jasyn's eyes turned hard instantly. Wisteria only meant one thing to him; Calhoun Montego. His face turned grim.
"Thank you, Fifi." He said. "You may leave."
