Diana's gaze on Fifi was making her uncomfortable. Tisha also felt uncomfortable. Jasyn had called her and questioned her, she had been so chirpy with her answers and she made sure to not tell him about the Wisteria secret. But when she met Fifi on her way to Jasyn's office, she just knew that something was off.
Diana couldn't wipe away the feeling that she had been exposed.
"I need to get something," Diana said, breaking the awful silence in the room. She turned and left. Julitta was feeling saddened as well. She couldn't help but want to follow Diana.
"Fifi, Tisha, I hope you both did not slip." She said, staring at the both of them. Tisha raised her hand in surrender.
"I didn't say anything, I only told him that Diana made the best pies," Tisha said. "Hell, that's the only thing I know about her."
Julitta narrowed her eyes. "Fifi, what about you?"
"I don't even know anything about her. All I know is what Tisha told me, about the pie stuff."
Julitta nodded. "It's alright then."
Diana went into Jasyn's tent since he wasn't there. She heard the governor call him for an emergency meeting before they were to go to the battlefield. She bided her time carefully and after he had left, she entered his tent. She began to search and she found nothing out of place.
Just as she was about to give up, she heard some voices outside. It belonged to Yolanda and Theodore.
"Listen, Jasyn told me that he had found some dirt about Diana. He even told me where he kept the letters he had been receiving."
"I don't care about any dirt, Yolanda," Theodore said. "Besides, isn't it Jasyn whom you want? Well, you have him now, why are you still bothered that Diana still has an admirer."
"It's for your good, Theo," Yolanda said softly. Diana could see her caressing his arm and Theo ignored it. She snorted under her breath.
Men were so disgusting. After such a warm love confession, he still allowed another woman to touch him so affectionately, not just any woman, it had to be Yolanda, a woman who hated her, the woman he claimed to love.
What difference was he to Jasyn? Both of them claimed to love her and still went back to the same woman. The funny thing there was that it was still the same woman, Yolanda.
She listened more. Yolanda, whom she knew very well, was almost stupid and would go as far as to tell Theodore where Jasyn kept the letters, and that's all she was searching for.
"C'mon, if you don't believe me, you can go in and search for it," Yolanda said. "I'll save you from the trouble of searching for yourself. I'll tell you where he kept it."
Theodore chuckled. "I think you're mistaken, Yolanda."
"I did say, I didn't want to find out anything about Diana which she didn't tell herself. So whatever game you and Jasyn are playing together, keep me and Diana out of it."
"Ugh! I know you'd still wanna go in and check. It's in a blue box beneath his desk. The passcode is 423651."
"Just in case you satisfy your curiosity Theo, come to me and I will help you get over the heartbreak."
Yolanda even went as far as to kiss him on the lips. Diana gagged at the act. Yolanda was shameless.
Angered, she stormed out of Jasyn's tent. Theodore was surprised to find her there. He also felt guilty about what Yolanda had done.
"Diana wait -"
Diana turned and started walking away. Theodore grabbed her hand quickly but she swatted it away. She continued her walk away from him and Jasyn's tent. If he wanted to find out anything about her, he could go ahead and do so. She felt betrayed already.
Perhaps she could just go ahead and start the war so that everyone could get busy with something other than her.
She re-entered her tent and the girls were all set to go to war.
"What's going on?" She asked, staring at no one in particular.
"Oh, uh Commander Jasyn asked all of us to hurry out to the field. We have to prepare for the war."
It was Tisha who had answered her. Julitta was feeling sad on her behalf.
"Are you okay?" Julitta asked after the other girls had left.
"Yeah," Diana answered, putting all her weapons and everything else she would need into a small backpack. "Why do I not look okay?"
"You've been quiet," Julitta said.
"I'm a woman of few words, Julitta. It's not like I spend a quarter of my day talking to you."
"See, this is what I'm talking about. You usually just drop a worded answer full of emotions and attitude. But now you're giving me a full sentence and trying to make your voice flat."
Diana sighed. "I'm not trying to make my voice flat, I'm trying to put emotions in my voice."
"Uh, you're doing a very bad job," Julitta said. Diana chuckled wryly. "Wanna see Coco before we go?"
Diana paused. "Yeah."
"Let's go," Julitta said. Diana packed completely and followed Julitta out. They went to the tent which was at the center of four ambulances that seemed to form a shield around it. She liked that he was safe. But if somehow a grenade was thrown into the center, what would they do?
"Hi, I want to see Coco," Diana said to the nurse who stood outside. She was surprised to find the lady clad in a bulletproof vest and their army uniform underneath.
The lady showed her means to get through and she entered. She found her boy, crawling around the place.
"Aw, I didn't know he could crawl already. He's always lying peacefully whenever he's with me."
"Cute." The nurse replied. "We don't have much time, we have to prepare for the war. Say goodbyes... Temporarily."
"Does it matter?" Julitta asked.
The nurse nodded. "Children have good luck, if you tell your baby you would see him, his good luck and clean spirit will guide you through the battle."
Diana and Julitta shared a look. "That's wonderful," Julitta exclaimed although she didn't believe what the lady had said.
After planting a soft kiss on his face, she finally left with Julitta, to join the others where they were lining up in the order they were going to fight.
They lined up in rows and columns. The people who stood at the front were the commanders and Diana. There were seven commanders and one chief commander, and there was Diana.
She was in between Theodore and Jasyn.
Faced before the enemy soldiers, she could feel the thirst for blood on her palm. She didn't know when she began to lust for blood but she felt like it had something to do with Calhoun.
"Diana..." Theodore whispered. "I'm sorry."
Diana ignored him. She was going to ignore them for the rest of the battle and when it was over, she was going to fulfill her wish for joining the army; finding out why Eugene wanted to destroy the werewolves, and how he planned to do it. Even if she couldn't stop him, she was going to help the people who could stop him.
"Diana." Theodore called again. "Come on, you can't ignore me forever."
"Just say something to me, please. Anything at all."
"Theodore." Jasyn scolded. "Now is not the time to express your undying affection for the woman. Allow her to concentrate."
Ignoring Jasyn, Theodore continued. "Diana please, just one word and I promise to not disturb you until we finish the battle."
Diana smirked. "Fuck off."
Theodore felt his heart shatter with the words she said. Well, he couldn't blame her, he had asked her to say anything at all.
Yolanda however was beside Jasyn and she couldn't help but enjoy the strain in their relationship. Diana had left Jasyn for her but she tried to be happy, it made her realize that seeing Diana with Jasyn wasn't the only thing she wanted to fight against. Seeing Diana happy was her problem. That was the only thing that got her angry.
George had managed to escape Annabelle's angry grandma and he was quickly on his way back to Wisteria. Truthfully, the journey back was easier. The train rode faster and he was certain he could make it back in time. He only hoped that nothing bad had happened to the king's body.
He hoped that they would be able to protect the king's body in his absence. He hoped that Felix and Simon would keep their differences aside and work together at least until the king woke up. Most importantly, he hoped that his journey would not be in vain.
Of course, he wasn't going to tell anyone that it was a girl of a few months above twelve that made the antidote for him, nope. He wasn't going to tell her that.
He could say he didn't meet the man because he was probably sick, and the woman was the one who attended to him, giving him the right potion which he needed.
And if they asked him how he was certain it was the right one, he would say he explained the situation to the woman. And if they asked him how they could trust that she gave them the right antidote, he would ask them if they had any other choice.
That was perfect. Now he wouldn't be questioned. All he needed to do was arrive in time for Wisteria. He had spent four days already and it was already night. If he was able to arrive at Wisteria by the following day, he would set a new record for Simon. Especially if he arrived early in the day.
Felix was in the throne room, staring at the throne. He couldn't help but feel a deep calling to sit on the king's throne. Although he knew how much Calhoun priced his position and things that showed his position; his throne, his crown, his scepter, his aura, and all. Yet he didn't know why but it seemed as if the throne itself was calling out to him.
Slowly, he walked towards the throne, placing his hand on the cold frame made of gold. He ran his hand over it to the couch and he loved the softness of the seat. Before he could find the wisdom in his actions, he already sat in the chair.
He sat back to enjoy the feeling. No wonder Calhoun never wanted to give up the throne to anybody, how could he when his throne was so delicate and so comfortable?
He relaxed in the seat, leaning his head backward, and soon, his eyes fluttered close. Before he knew what was happening, he heard the jubilation in the castle. Whatever could have made all the servants so happy? Perhaps the king had awoken!
He opened his eyes. He was still sitting in the king's seat. Did he fall asleep in the king's seat? He tried to get up but he found out that he was weakened. He looked at his arm and he was bound by a thick silver clasp, and so were his feet. Was that why he was so weak?
Even at that, he was still supposed to be able to at least free himself, this was more than the silver effect. How come he felt so weak, so... So human?
"Evander! Thomas!" He yelled. Even his voice sounded weak and not scary at all. It had no strength in it, almost like the pathetic cry of a pitiable human.
Evander soon ran into the throne room, wondering what was wrong with Felix to have him yell so pitifully.
"Felix? Oh my god!" Evander froze. "What are you doing in the king's seat?"
"Wait, just help me. I don't know who bound me with these silver cuffs but they're draining my power." Felix begged.
Evander touched them and yelped in pain, retracting his hand instantly.
"What the hell is that?!"
"That... It's payback."
The two men raised their heads in surprise, mouths open, staring at the man who had claimed to be a friend.
