"Where are you!?"
I took a nap in the afternoon and I was awoken by the ringing of my phone. Olivia's loud voice rang out to me. I looked out the window and saw that it was dark. The party probably started.
"I am. Not. Coming."
I scratched my neck because of the wrong sleeping position. I stretched and sat up.
"Oh really?" she said in a monotone voice.
My brows furrowed. Why does she seem to accept that right away?
"Yes. So stop calling me."
"Alright."
I was even more surprised. What's with her?
"Enjoy the night." I said more to prolong the conversation because it seemed like I should know something.
"Of course. Bye!"
She said goodbye and the voice went away.
"Hey Erato!"
The call ended and the sound made my head stop functioning.
Erato? Erato is in the party? I went back to his last message earlier. He told me he's out tonight. Is that it? Is he going to that party?
"Oh God!"
It's like suddenly someone merged with me to have super powers or something. I took a quick shower and tidied up my clothes I hadn’t even thought about yet. I just pulled on a red dress there and put on designer heels and immediately said goodbye to Daddy who also immediately agreed when I said that Erato and older brother were there.
"Your brother?" dad asked when I mentioned their names. I nodded and smiled at him sweetly.
"Honey, your brother is out of the country." I blinked quickly.
"Ah!" I chuckled and laughed.
"Yeah, I forgot. Erato is in there, don't worry."
Well, he agreed. I didn't know that my older brother was not in the Philippines today. He's probably out because of some business stuff.
I was late. The night is ripe and people are already having fun. Some are looking wasted already while I am a fresh girl in a red dress walking into the entrance of the resort, greeting those who look familiar to me.
My hair is straight because I don't have time to curl it anymore. My lips are bright red and I even manage to do a wing liner. I looked like a western girl again in the look I made.
Alright! I know Erato is here, just in case I get noticed. "
Jade! What a surprise you're here!"
I heard Olivia's irritating voice. From my smiling face, I looked at her sideways and snatched the cocktail she was holding. She smirked at my reaction.
"Where's Erato?" I asked coldly.
She was the one who struggled now.
"She's not here."
"What !?"
It was as if I was drenched in cold water at what she said. She stared at me tauntingly. I waited for her words but she just seemed to be challenging based on her stares. Only then did I realize what he had done.
"Damn it!" I left her.
"Hey!" She was chasing me.
"Don't go home!"
I shrugged her hand.
"I'm not going home! I'm annoyed with you, don't show your face first."
She pouted and smirked afterwards. I’m itching to go somewhere. I greeted the people half-heartedly because I was really tired of the thought that Olivia had fooled me.
Sulking, I typed a message for Erato.
Me:
I'm out too.
That's all. Nothing else was said.
If I could just say he was the reason why I was at this party I would have said that. Now, I'm stuck here. Might as well turn it into a night I would want it to be. Really just don’t let Olivia show up for me because I can really tweak her.
"Jade!"
It's Aiden. I could see his wide smile and her arm wrapped around Trish. They were with a group of friends, Trish's smile was big and sweet but when she heard my name she also turned to me. She lost her sweet smile. I knew it.
"Good evening." I delightedly greeted them. I have a few more to face. Aiden removed his arms to her girl so her face became even more sour.
"Trish, it's sad to hear that this party is for your farewell, but this night will for sure be fun. Thank you so much."
I came to her and embraced her. She smiled at me too and hugged me back. That would be his problem if he was plasticized on me. I'm mature enough to have social manners, so I hope she is too.
I just ignored Aiden too much and just quickly said goodbye. Many are having fun, some are already swimming. But me, I'm just so bored. No matter how much I enjoy myself, I only feel annoyed- Annoyed with Olivia. I stood on the far side where there was a standing table. I stood there alone, enjoying my alone time. I'm just not feeling it.
"Alone?" The guy approached me.
I wasn't able to recognize the face at first because of the lights and also my bad eye sight but when I squinted my eyes I recognized him right away.
"H-hi!" I greeted, overwhelmed that I saw him here.
I just saw him in the picture and now he's here. A smirk appeared on his face, but compared to the grins I saw in other men. Even if he did that, his face would still be gentle. Really looking like a boy next door.
"You're here." I stated.
He nodded and stood beside me.
"And you're here too." he stated too.
I smiled and shook my head.
"I wasn't able to thank you the last time, so thank you for lending your umbrella." I smiled at him.
He just glanced at me with a slight amusement in his face then looked at the crowd afterwards.
"You're welcome." he said without looking at me.
I checked him out. He's not wearing the same clothes I saw him wearing in the photo. I sniffed and thought about what to say.
"I guess you don't know me, but I'm-"
"Jade." He looked me straight in the eyes.
Amusement plastered on my face, I cocked my head on the other side questioning him with just my facial expression.
"Everyone's talking about you." he stated.
I frowned at what he said.
"The girl in the red dress." he uttered and sipped his cocktail then looked at me again afterwards.
"Ever since you came in I've been hearing people asking questions. So I realize, 'that' Jade is you." I twitched my eyebrows and chuckled. I don’t know if I will believe him.
"Yes, I'm Jade. And you are?"
"Noah."
"Nice to meet you, Noah."
"Pleasure to meet you too."
We both stared at each other. There was a playful smile on his lips and so on me. There's just something about him that caught my attention. He's not my type okay? I don't have any thoughts of making out with him or what, it's just that ... He's appearing to be mysterious.
