Viviane
I looked at the message that had just arrived and I was indecisive about what I would say to leave the pool all of a sudden because João Felipe was once again inviting me to his apartment.
The answer came quickly when Júlia said she was leaving and invited me to her apartment, to pick up some of my things that I had forgotten there a few days ago. Cecília would stay at César's house because she wanted to take the opportunity to catch up on her tan.
" I'm already starting to fade, all these days without getting a sun.”
She always made a point of having tanned skin, since most of her photographic work was for swimwear.
" I'll go with you, then,” I said to Julia.
" I can go with you and then we'll go home, Vivi.”
" It is not necessary, JP. Stay with César and Cecília. I can take an Uber service" I spoke very quickly because the three of them looked at me with suspicion.
" All is well then. Since you won't want my ride, I don't know what time I'll get home " João Pedro said, giving a big smile.
We said goodbye then and I went with Júlia to take a taxi. Her apartment was in the neighboring neighborhood of César and soon we were in front of her building.
I sent a message to João Felipe, letting him know that he would soon be at the apartment where we were. I quickly grabbed my things from Julia's apartment and headed toward my destination.
But before that, we agreed that she would meet me at the university, in a cafeteria, so we could talk a little. She needed support and I would do what I could to help her.
I quickly arrived at the apartment and found him already waiting for me, sitting on the sofa.
" Sit here.”
" Some problem?”
" I just miss my troublemaker.”
I sat next to him and smiled at his words. He hugged me tight and I felt a tightness in my throat. It was so good to be with him like this.
" Were you with Julia?”
" Also.”
" Is she better? Were you able to resolve the complicated situation?”
" Let's not talk about Julia. Let's just enjoy being here together.”
He pushed me away from him a little, to look me in the face and kissed me intensely, hungry, it seemed like it had been days since we'd seen each other.
João Felipe
We ended up losing time when we realized it was past nine at night. I was worried about letting Viviane go by taxi, but I couldn't risk being seen together, so I ended up arriving before her and I had the car parked in front of the house, waiting for her arrival. I only entered the mansion after making sure it was already safe inside the gates.
I still found my parents drinking coffee in the mansion's living room and sat with them for a while, to talk. João Pedro hadn't arrived yet, but that was nothing new.
Back in my room, I was thinking again about the friendship between Viviane and João Pedro. Could it be that there was something between them and with my arrival, I ended up disturbing them? That doubt kept coming back to bother me.
I woke up early the next day, as it was the beginning of another work week. I needed a lot of focus since the company's finances were in my hands and I was still trying to sort out the mess left by the former director.
I was already having breakfast when João Pedro arrived at the table, looking very tired.
" Good night, huh?”
" Better than impossible!”
Despite the tired appearance, he still played. He sat next to me and we had coffee together, in silence, until the moment I couldn't resist and ended up asking.
" I have noticed that you and Viviane walk a little apart. Did something happen to get in the way of the couple?”
" Vivi and I are doing very well. But she's been a little weird. Nothing that disturbs our "friendship" " He made quotation marks for the word friendship and that made me even more suspicious. "Speaking of her, she just texted me." She is waiting for me in front of the garage.
He said that and got up from the table, still eating toast and leaving his coffee almost untouched.
I had to pay more attention to these two. While I'm pretty sure Vivi was inexperienced when it came to sex, that doesn't mean that my brother couldn't have some kind of romantic interest in her and that maybe they just didn't pick up any romance just for lack of initiative or both parties.
I finished my coffee and went to the company. The best thing to do was to dedicate myself to work. Nothing could come ahead of professional goals. Not even Vivi.
I was able to fully concentrate on work and in the days that followed, with the demands that were appearing and situations that I needed to control, I didn't have much time to meet with Vivi.
The best time to see her was at night, and at that time she couldn't find me. So, we ended up meeting only on Thursday, as I managed to leave the company a little earlier and she waited for me in our apartment after leaving a class she had in the afternoon.
We were lying down, just talking, when a message notification came on his cell phone.
" Ignore it.”
" I'm waiting for a message from Julia.”
He picked up the phone and as he read the contents of the message, his expression turned pale.
" Did something happen?” I asked, worried.
She was silent and I soon realized that she was crying.
" Tell me, Vivi, what's going on? Maybe I can help.”
She looked at me and after a moment of doubt, she ended up saying what was going on and that left her so shaken.
" Julia did a blood test and has just confirmed that she is pregnant.”
" I know” I was undecided about what to say in this situation and asked: “But does she have a boyfriend? She is married? She went out that day with the guy from the club. They're dating, is that it?”
" That's the worst part. They've only hooked up twice and he's taken. She is devastated!" she said and put both hands on her face as if she was defeated.
Soon he was looking at me again as if waiting for my answer.
"Well, it's a tough situation for her. However, it is simple to solve. If he doesn't support you, and he's already committed, it's best to terminate the pregnancy. She doesn't need to go through with it."
Viviane's expression turned even paler and I thought she was going to faint. I still held it, dreading something like this.
" Viviane, you don't have to stay that way. She is of legal age and knew the risks when she entered into such a relationship. She shouldn't expect anything from this guy and if she doesn't terminate the pregnancy, she has to be aware that she will probably have to face everything alone or at best, with the support of her family.”
She got out of my arms and got up, heading towards the bathroom without saying a word. I even got up to go and question what was going on, since the situation wasn't even with her!
" Viviane, how long are you going to spend in that bathroom?”
I said knocking on the bathroom door several times. It had been more than twenty minutes since Vivi had locked herself in there and I was getting worried.
A few seconds passed and then she left, and her expression was no better than when she had entered.
" Viviane, I don't understand. Why are you like that?”
" It's not because it's not me that I don't care. She is my friend and I will do everything in my power to help her. And I will never tell my friend that she must terminate her pregnancy!”
As she spoke, she became more and more upset and was almost screaming when she grabbed her clothes, dropped the robe that was on her body, and changed her clothes.
I still tried to talk to her, arguing that the situation wasn't ours, and why we were claiming like that, but she just stormed out of the apartment, without listening to any more words I tried to say.
But what happened here? I thought, plopping down on the couch and running my hands over my face.
