Adam and I were both confused that the man's name was Fabian. We were watching him collect a lot of dry wood, so I stared at Adam to signal him to help him.
‘Adam, you should help him so we can find more information about what he knows.’
‘Leah, what if it's just a coincidence?’
‘But, my wolf said to me about this man. He's the only one who knows about Samantha.’
‘He was mad at Samantha, and it doesn't guarantee us that he was telling us the truth.’
‘That's why you're here with me, right? You know if someone was lying to me. That's how your ability works.’
‘Okay, fine, whatever! I just think that I will waste our time with him. Even though I saw his memories, I still don't believe this.’
‘Seriously, Adam? Would you stop acting like a virgin woman because you aren't?’
Adam finally surrenders so he immediately helped Fabian which made Fabian peek at us. Adam raised his eyebrow at me as if he was waiting for me to help him too. So, I started picking dry wood too, I still don't know what the use of this thing is.
“What are you two doing? You don't need to help me.” Fabian started, but he resumed picking.
“We want to help you, but, if you don't mind me asking, where is your house? You told me about your brother?”
“He's sick. He was at my house. I still don't know what I should do.”
“What is his sickness? Is it okay if I check on him?”
“I don't have any penny to pay you, Alpha.”
“You don't need to. I was young when someone taught me how to heal someone using herbs.”
“Then, what should I pay you? I don't have any food if that's what you want.”
“I don't need food, but it looks like you didn't want your brother to get healed. You keep asking me as if I was the only one who wants to do this.” I acted like I was angry, so I quickly stood up. I was looking at Fabian who had a shocked expression plastered on his face.
“That's not what I mean, Alpha. And I'm sorry if you feel that way.” Fabian bowed his head as if he was regretting everything. He sighed and stopped picking wood.
“There's a lot of people who told me that he's willing to help me with my brother's disease. But they aren't doing it, my brother got worse because of them. That's why I am scared that maybe, he will get the worst ever.”
“Okay, then you should trust me. I'm an Alpha, and if your brother gets worse then my name will be ruined. I'm not those fake people who acted like they can heal but the truth was they are not.” My voice was too serious even when I gazed at him. Fabian sighed, so he slowly nodded.
“Okay, I will let you see my brother. But, I hope that he will be cured after you check him.” Adam was secretly listening to our conversation, and his mind was too noisy.
‘I think Alpha Brandon will get jealous of this guy.’ He secretly commented, which made me laugh a little. I don't want to think that he wanted Alpha Brandon for me, but even though I was preventing myself from thinking about it, it's too obvious that Adam wants Alpha Brandon for me.
So, that's why he helped me to find Favio. My cousin may look like a cold person but he's not. I always caught him when he was with Karen.
‘Hmm. I am excited to tell this to Alpha Brandon to see his reactions.’ Adam added, so I grabbed a small dry wood and then threw it to him. His eyes widened, and his ears reddened as if I caught him thinking nasty.
“Okay,” I told Fabian before we got a rope to wrap it on the dry wood that we picked. After a moment, we all started walking to Fabian's house. He was silent while Adam secretly complained that he was carrying too heavy. I gave my wood to Adam, and he had no choice but to obey me whether he liked it or not. I am his Alpha, I can use my Alpha tone to make him obey my command.
When we reached Fabian's house, I was shocked when I saw a small wooden house. Adam entered their small gate and put the dry wood on the corner.
“Desmond!” Fabian started shouting, his forehead ceased, and I heard his heartbeat pump so fast. It looks like he was nervous that something might have happened to his only brother. If Fabian was the real Favio, who was the man that he saw when he opened his eyes? And Desmond was his real brother by blood?
Adam and I stopped walking after Adam put the woods, where Fabian put his woods.
“It looks like Desmond is asleep.” Fabian tried his best to hide the worriedness that he was feeling. And, I know that he was secretly hoping that Desmond was okay.
Fabian left us, and I saw Adam's face turn into a scowl when he was trying to inspect everything. He began walking to the back area of Fabian's house, and his heartbeat raced.
What is happening?
I saw a lot of things on the ground, and when I went to the gate, it was broken as if someone might go to this house.
‘I think someone went here.’ Adam informed me, and we have the same speculation. We both ran towards Fabian when we heard him shouting while crying.
We stopped at the front of the door, and we saw Fabian weeping on the floor, while he was hugging his brother who looked like he was dead for almost an hour. My heart ached when I watched him kissing Desmond's forehead and secretly blaming himself for not staying by his side.
“Adam, you should take Fabian outside of this house. I will take care of Desmond.” Adam was stunned when I quickly decided to help Desmond. I was about to walk towards him when Adam stopped me by grabbing my hand.
“Leah, you are aware that you can't use your ability. What will happen if someone might catch you? I don't want you to die. You know that if you use that power, your lifespan will be reduced.”
“But, what will happen to Fabian? Desmond was the only family that he had.”
“He will learn how to move on. He's dead, and you can't do anything about it.”
“I can do anything for him. I can make him alive again, that's what I did to Alpha Brandon.” Adam's eyes expanded after he heard what I said. I didn't even inform him about Alpha Brandon.
“You do what? No! Leah, you shouldn't do that! And why didn't you even tell me about Alpha Brandon? I thought we were cousins and I am here by your side to protect you!”
“Adam, I accepted my fate. I need to help other people even though my—”
“Please, don't do this! I don't want you to die.” Adam's voice cracked, and he gulped when he bowed his head.
“Except for my brother, you're the only one that I have. And, I don't want to feel alone again.” He added, which made my heart clench when I saw the tears forming in his eyes.
“I am the Alpha of our pack. And I decided to take care of them. You can't stop me from doing what is right, Adam.” I said, and I pulled my hand from his grasp. Adam didn't even try to disagree, and he let me do what I wanted.
I know he was traumatized after his parents died, but I can't let myself see someone dying. I walked closer to Fabian, and he was surprised when Adam grabbed him.
“He was dead,” I muttered, then checked Desmond's body. My forehead furrowed when I saw Desmond's face. I can see Samantha in him, but he was the male version of her. I blinked when I realized that Samantha might have had a child with Favio.
But Fabian told us that Samantha can't conceive a child. That's why she was luring a lot of me to get her pregnant. I don't think it's true.
“N-No! He's not dead, Alpha Leah. You're lying.” I touched Desmond's skin, it was too pale, and slowly checked his eyes. When I turned my gaze to every corner of their house I saw a small bottle and a small cup on the floor.
Desmond's skin turned light orange, but if someone might check him I know they will conclude that he died of his sickness.
“I'm not lying.” Fabian's tears continue flowing down his cheeks. His lips trembled, and his eyes were bloodshot.
“You're lying! How can it be that Desmond died?”
“Do you have a silver pin?” Fabian didn't know what I was planning to do. He ran towards the small cabinet they took a small silver pin. I gently put it in Desmond's mouth, and when I pulled it out, I saw the edge turning black.
“Someone poisoned him,” I uttered, which made Fabian tremble. His hand turned into a fist. I felt bad for Desmond, and whoever did this to him knows him. It looks that Desmond might know him because I don't even see anything aside from the small bottle.
“Adam, you know what you need to do. Take Fabian out, I don't need him here for now.”
“N-No! What are you planning for my brother!” Fabian shouted in anger, and he was trying to restrain Adam's hold but he failed. I don't try to look at him again, and I touch Desmond's chest.
‘Leah, are you sure that you want to use our ability for Desmond.’ My wolf started to communicate with me.
“Yeah, I want to help him. And, he looks like the male version of Samantha.’
‘You're right. Okay, I want you to know that I am supporting you whatever your plans are. We are in one body, right?”
“Aren't you scared that we might die because of this?’
‘Why would I be scared? This world was too cruel for us. And I enjoyed being with you even though you don't even communicate with me without my effort.’
‘Are you for real? Are you mad at me because I am like this?’
‘I'm not mad at you, I understand that was the Alpha of the three packs and we don't have enough time to enjoy each other's company.’
‘Okay, I am glad that we both agreed to help Desmond. I think this isn't his time but someone wants him dead.’
“ALPHA LEAH!” Fabian screamed and I heard a loud knock on the door. I closed my hands while my hand was on Desmond's chest. I imagined that there was an energy coming out of my body, and it was going to Desmond's chest.
‘Adam, I want him to shut his mouth. I can't concentrate on what I was doing!” I used the mindlink when I talked to Adam.
“Will you please stop? My cousin was a part to revive your brother. You don't need to shout at her as if she was the murderer.” Adam roared, and it looked like he was mad at Fabian. I don't even hear Fabian's response, and I focus on the hand that I was using.
I felt a small amount of energy coming out of my body. I groaned when I felt my chest tight and it looked like I was stopping to breathe normally.
My hands trembled and I didn't even stop until Desmond was finally alive.
‘Come on, you need to wake up. Samantha will be happy to be with you.’ I conclude that he was the son of Samantha.
“Ahhh—” I screamed in pain when there was energy left in my body. And I saw Desmond's chest glow before he gradually opened his eyes. Desmond's eyes widened in disbelief, and I heard his voice which made Fabian run to his brother.
I was about to talk to him when I couldn't even move. So, before my body fell to the ground, Adam was too quick to hold him.
I felt a sticky liquid coming from my nose, and when I coughed there was blood too.
“Shit, Leah!”
