“What did the pack doctors say?”
Adam looked at his cousin, and he saw that Leah was trying to hide the worry on her face, but she failed. Leah was too easy to read; aside from that, he could look at the memories.
“They're still in the room. I don't even know what happened to Amoux.” Leah was surprised because it was the first time his cousin didn't know what had happened to someone.
“What do you mean by that? I don't understand.” Leah sat on the chair, but she didn't even remove her eyes from her cousin. Thinking that nobody didn't know what happened to Amoux makes him believe that something terrible had happened to him. But how is that possible? She felt Amoux was too happy with Anaya, so Damon told her she shouldn't think about him again.
“I tried to open his memories, but I didn't even know anything happened before he received those lashes.”
“Wait, are you telling me Amoux couldn't even remember it?” Leah gasped, and she massaged her head.
“Yeah, it looks like he didn't even know what happened to him. I don't understand because he didn't lose his other memories. I still remembered that Favio couldn't remember his memories, too, right?” Leah nodded. She still remembered that Favio couldn't recall his past because someone had deleted it.
“Okay, so I think you should check what he saw last,” Leah said. Adam didn't even talk back, which made Leah gaze at him.
“Don't tell me that you couldn't find that too. Adam, I know how your ability works.”
Adam sighed. There's a hesitation in his eyes. He didn't want to conclude that what he saw was true, but he thought that Leah might need to know that. He couldn't believe that the Lycan had dared to hurt his successor, and aside from that, he was confused because he saw two events in Amoux's mind.
But how could he have had two events before he lost his memories? He tried to dig deeper, but all he saw were Leah's memories in his mind. It looked like Amoux kept thinking about Leah, which made him go to the pack even though there was a big possibility that he might die.
“I want to be honest with you. There are two people that Amoux was with before his other memories finally disappeared. First, he's with the Lycan, they're in the middle of the forest, and they're talking about personal things. Amoux was too emotional, and I heard him sobbing in front of the Lycan.”
“Then, Adam, tell me what they talked about. Maybe it could help us to find the truth.”
“They're talking about you. Amoux asked for his father, and he told him that he was scared he might lose him.” Leah was stunned when she heard those words. Her eyes formed tears, and she cried. She knew that Amoux always wanted to act strong, whoever he was with. And hearing that Amoux mourned in front of his father made her heart cut to a million pieces.
“And, there's a big gap; I don't know what happened next. And what's their reaction to Lycan, but the next event was he was with Damon. They were talking, and Damon was laughing at him. That's the last event that he still remembered.” Adam added.
“But, why did Amoux go here in my pack? He knew I had banned him; if I were still mad at him, I would instruct somebody to kill him.” Leah shook her head. She slowly touched her belly to avoid stress, but the father of her child was the cause of her anxiety.
“As if you could do that to him, Leah. Let's be honest with each other; if you want to kill him from the moment, he chokes you and frees you. You had a chance to kill him in your own hands, but you chose to stop yourself because you loved him.”
“But I loved Alpha Brandon too,” Leah whispered.
“You didn't love him; you're fascinated with him. Leah, I suggested you give Alpha Brandon a chance, especially after you slept together.” Leah glared when Adam mentioned again what she did.
Adam's green eyes automatically widened, shocked. He stepped back to prevent himself from being pulled by Leah.
“I didn't mean to mention that, Leah. Calm down.” He swallowed when he saw the deadly glare in her eyes.
“I know you intentionally brought up that topic. Adam, do you want me to kill you right now? Are you trying to humiliate me?” Adam stepped back again when he noticed that Leah's eyes glowed red.
“Leah, you're my cousin; calmly down. We're talking about Amoux here.” He yelled when Leah ran in his direction. But Karen and Kairo quickly helped him; they grabbed Leah so fast.
“What is happening? And, Adam, what did you do again? I told you to stop teasing your cousin!” Karen roared like a beast.
“I didn't do anything, alright? I accidentally mentioned what she did—”
“DON'T YOU DARE CONTINUE WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO SAY, ADAM?” Leah's face was reddened in anger. She threatened him that if she said that word again, she would do anything to punish him.
“Okay, I won't tell it again. Calm down. I feel hurt. Did you think that I wanted to humiliate you? Leah, I know that we didn't grow up at the same time, but I promise myself that I will do anything to protect you. I respected you, not because you're the Alpha of this pack, but because you're my cousin.”
“Hi, I'm the doctor of this hospital. Can you please be silent? There are many patients in the hospital, and we need to rest.” They all stopped when the doctor walked in their direction.
“Oh, I'm sorry for causing–”
“It's alright. You're pregnant, so you can't control your emotions, but you should do your best to prevent yourself from getting mad. Maybe, you're the Alpha of this pack, but I am the resident doctor here, and once you're here in the hospital, your position wasn't necessary for my eyes.” Leah couldn't finish her words when the doctor immediately cut her words. The doctor looked sternly at them before he went back to his patients.
“Woah, that's incredible. Aside from that, he's handsome and looks more stunning; I liked how he loved his work,” Karen whispered. Adam cleared his throat and gave his mate a murderous stare.
”I kinda agree with you, Karen. I couldn't believe that we had a hot doctor here. Who hired him in our hospital?” Leah didn't mind her cousin's expression; she only thought of the handsome man who scolded her.
“Maybe, Almera hired him. I know her standards when it comes to the man that she wants. Sadly, she had–” Karen continued her words and looked at Kairo from head to toe.
Adam groaned in madness while Kairo was shocked that Karen was secretly degrading him. He was thankful that he had rules, one of which was not to fight with a pregnant woman.
“Seriously, Karen! You're praising another man while you're with me. Have you forgotten that you're carrying my child?” Karen shrieked when Adam pulled her and gave her a tight embrace.
“I will teach you a lesson once we get back in our room! I won't forget that you did that to me.” Adam gritted his teeth in so much annoyance.
While Kairo's face darkened when he thought it was Almera who hired an attractive man in the hospital. He knew Almera, and aside from the credentials, one of her standards for hiring someone was their appearance.
“I think I should thank Almera, then. I know her reason.” Leah smirked while Karen was laughing so loud.
“I loved her so much. Almera was right; If I were in the hospital and saw that man, I would be alive.” Karen says.
Almera was on her way back to the Red Moon Pack. She was too busy; thinking about her baby's name when she sneezed. She scratched the tip of her nose, and her face turned into a scowl.
“I think someone remembers me.” she thought. She didn't know how Kairo was overly jealous, and he swore to teach her a lesson too.
–
Amoux was peacefully sleeping while Leah was beside him. She was staring at his handsome face with love. She took his hand and gently squeezed it.
“Amoux, what happened? Does someone try to kill you?” She knew Amoux might not hear her, but she couldn't stop thinking about him.
“I thought you were happy in your pack. I don't have any plans to talk to you. But you still had a special place in my heart.”
“Amoux, tell me, who did this to you? I ordered Almera to report this to your father.”
Leah didn't even know she had fallen asleep when Amoux's hand jiggled. She quickly opened her eyes even though she wanted to retake a nap. She saw Amoux's staring at her, and she couldn't believe that she noticed that there were a lot of emotions in his eyes.
“Amoux, are you alright? I'm sorry, I can't use my healing ability—”
“You don't need to apologize because of it, I understand. You don't need to use your healing ability for me; I don't want you to die because of me.” Leah blinked when she felt that her eyes were moist.
Maybe, Amoux was a jerk; he was a selfish bastard that she wanted to get so much.
They both looked at each other. Amoux turned his eyes in a different direction and sighed.
“I'm confused. I didn't understand why I was here at the hospital.” He stopped. “Did you bring me here? My back hurts.” He winced as if he was a child complaining to his mother.
“Did you gotta fight with someone? You came in my pack, and I asked Adam to usher you to my office, but you collapsed.” Leah cleared her throat when she felt that it was itching.
“I'm not. I don't even remember anything. I recalled that I was with Damon, and he talked to me about you and Anaya.”
“Are you sure that's the only event that you remember? What about your father?”
“We ran to the forest, and I don't want to share with you what we talked about. It's private, and I am ashamed–”
“Do you want something to eat?” Leah asked. She felt hungry, and she knew that it was part of her pregnancy hormones. “I'm famished. I want to eat a delicious meal,” she added.
“It's midnight, Leah. I don't think that someone might still be awake right now.” Leah grumbled after she heard Amoux. She was irritated that she couldn't get the food that she wanted.
“Then, do something, Amoux. I am hungry. You didn't do anything? Seriously, what if I'm pregnant, and I want to eat every midnight----” Leah stopped when someone knocked on the door. When it opened, Adam went into their room. He had a lot of food that he cooked for his cousin.
Karen woke him up after they made love because she was angry. She was whimpering that he might be mad if she woke him up.
“Oh, Amoux, you're awake.” Adam put the food that he had brought.
“My wife wanted to eat, so I brought a lot because I know that Leah might be hungry right now.” Leah wiped her hidden tears, and Adam was like an angel to him; it looked like the Moon Goddess woke him up for her.
