“What happened to Amoux?” Almera asked. She was staring at Leah with concern. Though she disliked Amoux for being a jerk and murderer, she couldn't help but be anxious about her Alpha's mate. At first, she wanted to be selfish; she wanted Leah to choose whether it was her pack or Amoux.
She thought that Alpha Brando was much better for Leah. He's the ideal man that every woman wishes for. If Kairo wasn't her mate, she might be doing everything for Alpha Brandon.
“Leah, go to him. He might need you.” Almera added when Leah looked at her as if she was asking what she might need to do.
“But, what about them? I need to teach them about herbs.” Leah gazed at her cousin. The worriedness was more evident on her face, even though she tried to hide it. “Adam, can you accompany Amoux to my office? I will be there after this. I wanted to prioritize these children first, and I knew he would wait for me in my office.”
Adam nodded and began walking to the entrance. He realized why Leah wanted him to check Amoux first. She trusted his ability too much, which made him sigh. He felt so used, and he thought that she would need to be thankful that she was his cousin, that he was too worried for her.
He slowly walked when he saw Amoux staring at the tree.
“Amoux,” He called.
Amoux immediately turned his head to face. Adam was stunned when he saw how dirty Amoux was. There are a few scratches on his body, and it looks like it's new when he sees tiny blood on the scratch.
Amoux frowned when he saw Adam. He massaged his temple, and he was blankly looking at him.
“Where's Leah?” Amoux inquired. He scratched his hair, and he winced when he felt that his body was aching too much.
“She's with the children. She's teaching them how to use herbs.” Adam gazed at Amoux's icy ice, but he stopped when he saw nothing.
Adam tried repeatedly, but the more he attempted, the more he felt frustrated whenever he couldn't find any in his memories. But he was shocked when Amoux collapsed directly.
“Help!” Adam shouted. He panicked, and he thought that there was something wrong with Amoux.
Karen stood up when she heard her mate shout. She thought he was in danger, so she didn't mind if Leah and Almera screamed her name. Her heart was thumping so fast that something terrible had happened to her mate. She doesn't want her future child to experience growing up without a father.
“Karen, where are you going?” Almera frustratedly yelled, but Karen didn't turn back to them. Almera uttered more profanities in annoyance, and she quickly followed Karen when she saw how uneasy she was. She ran so fast, which made Kairo run too because he was too scared that something terrible might happen to their child.
Leah watched them panic, so she looked at the busy children of each herb. She asked someone to watch back the children and followed her three Betas. As she walked to the entrance, her steps became unhurried when she saw Kairo and Adam carrying Amoux.
Leah's eyes widened in shock when she saw how dirty Amoux was. So, she rapidly moved closer to them, examined her mate's appearance, and her heart ached when he saw that Amoux had lost consciousness.
But she was about to be with them when Kairo and Adam started walking to the pack hospital. She saw Almera and Karen, who were about to move forward in her direction
“Did you see what happened to Amoux? Adam told us that he was talking to him when he collapsed. It looked like someone had tortured him.” Almera said, using the mind link. Leah gasped in horror; she couldn't believe someone had persecuted Amoux.
“We should contact the Nightwalker. There's a strong possibility they might blame us for what happened to Amoux.” Karen stated.
“What makes you think about that?” Almera raised her eyebrows. Though there's a big possibility that the Nightwalker might blame them, she still wanted to know why Karen quickly concluded about it.
“Did you think that Lycan would believe us that Amoux went here with a lot of wounds on his body? I don't think so. And I'm afraid this might be a trap for the new war.” Karen rolled her eyes when she uttered those words; it looked like she was irritated that a simple event wasn't bothering Almera.
“Karen was right. So, Almera, please call the Nightwalker that we found Amoux. We had a lot of witnesses that he went in our pack with bruises.” Leah used her Alpha tone to stop Almera from reacting when she was about to complain to her. She smirked when she saw Almera's face turn sour, so she rapidly left them without informing them.
“Oh, you're the one who needed to inform the Nightwalker today.” Karen grinned at Almera. She pursed her lips as if she was mocking her.
“Shut up, bitch. Could you come with me? Ah! I'm not the only Beta here.” She disagreed. She was about to grab her hand, but Karen dodged her hand. There was a devilish creepy smile plastered on her lips.
“I don't want to go with you. I don't wish for my husband to search for me. Almera, you could do this; I will tell Kairo that you're excited to get bang on him when you return to our pack.”
‘This bitch, she would be thankful that she was my friend, or else, I would kick her freaking ass!’ Almera thought. She stomped on the ground, like a child who her parents didn't pamper.
However, sometimes she wanted Leah to command her whenever she needed anything, but right now that she's pregnant, she felt that she was too lazy to do her work. Kairo was complaining that she finally lost her sexual hormones so fast sometimes that she wanted to have sex with him, and within a minute, she didn't like it.
