Leah's Point of View
My heart stopped beating as a result of the loud knock on the door. My previous demeanor that drowning in pleasure was replaced by fear that they would find out what happened to the two of us.
He'd already met his mate and the Lycan introduced her to the pack. What if the elderly would discover what's happening between us? I understand that love is not the same as mere pleasure. I know Anaya is the one destined for him, but I'm not lost on what my role is in his life.
Am I just his…. Doctor? Nothing more?
I was about to stand up to see who was knocking, but Amoux interrupted me. His every move is deliberate. However, I should stop him because he doesn't have any cover on his body.
"Amoux, let me—"
It's too late now.
Despite my wolf hearing, I couldn't make out what they were talking about or who he was talking to.
After minutes of waiting, he finally returned to my seat.
"Who is he?" I asked with my raspy voice.
"My father asked me to summon you," he coldly said as he put on his robe.
If my heart was nervous and scared before, it is now agitated.
"W-Why?"
He didn't respond. He simply took my robe, pulled me upright, and spontaneously placed the robe on my body. I noticed his jaw tightening and his hands tensing.
I would have asked again, but I couldn't because he had already dragged me away. He lifted me up as if we had just gotten married, and with his wolf speed, we arrived at the palace in less than a minute.
Everyone was staring at us when we arrived, as if we were the centre of attention.
Even though it's already night, the entire palace was packed with visitors, and it seems like no one has left yet, even one.
Every step of our walk slowed, but I bowed my head in fear that they would discover what was going on in my head. But Amoux was the polar opposite; he didn't seem to care what was going on and refused to let go of my hand. He didn't leave me until we got inside, to where the Lycan.
And when I felt that I'm already near the Lycan, I felt the heavy ambiance was already in full swing.
I raised my head to check and I wasn't mistaken. Nevertheless, I wasn't expecting who I would see.
Luna is next to Lycan, and Damon and Anaya are behind them.
What are they doing here?
They were all staring at us, but Lycan's gaze was fixed on my hand where Amoux holds. I tried to withdraw my hand, but it seemed pointless because Amoux didn't release it.
"Leah, I'm sure you know why I summoned you here, don't you?" Lycan's voice and eyes were so solemn that it appeared as if he could kill me with a single move.
I couldn't respond because I had no idea what to say. I just stared at Damon, who was now grinning, while Anaya appeared to be staring at Amoux and my hands.
"What exactly do you mean, Lycan? I'm not sure I understand."
“From today, you're going to start to live here. As Amoux' Doctor. As Anaya's adviser. As Damon's apprentice.”
What he said made me frown. Yes, I'll be Amoux's doctor, but why should I care about Anaya and Damon?
When I turned to face Damon, he winked at me with his playful smile. I look at Anaya, but she is too serious and doesn't seem to want to participate in our conversation.
"I understand your perplexity. Anyhow, I discovered you just turned 18 years old, which means your wolf has finally come out. All you need is some training. So I delegated Damon to assist you in controlling it." He next turned to Anaya, "You are well aware that Amoux and Anaya are fated mates. I want you to teach Anaya how to cure because she will be the one to take over your role with Amoux in a year or two. She's the mate, so she should learn to look after Amoux."
I couldn't say anything in the long litany of Lycan because it seemed like something was stuck in my throat.
That also made my chest prickle as I considered how quickly the year would pass...
One or two years, huh...
When that day comes, I will have no right to speak to or be with Amoux anymore.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
I hope... if only I am She-Alpha.
