The weather got colder and colder at night, the wind blowing my thin skirt made me shiver a little. I crouched down on a chair by the pool, looking out into the distance.
I've been thinking hard about the 'three-month' deal between me and Dominic. Now that my mother has passed away, I am alone, maybe I will move to the suburbs to live. At least the rent is pretty cheap, it's just a bit far from Malibu academy.
I don't want to stay in the house where I used to live with my mother, I'm afraid I will ruin the precious memories there. I will lock that house with our memories there, when I miss my mother, I will return.
It's pretty late, but attorney Kevin still emailed me, I skimmed it, then turned off my phone. Recently, things related to inheritance have made me extremely tired. The legal issues are extremely complicated, not to mention the attorney fees are also extremely expensive. My mind really spins just thinking about this.
"What are you doing out here, it's freezing outside."
"It's just a little chilly."
I smiled at Dominic. He sat down beside me and draped his coat over my shoulders.
"I was sitting with some of your friends earlier. They talked a lot about you."
"Is that so? What did they say?" Dominic stroked my hair slowly.
"They say you deal in weapons. Last time I saw you with a gun at the academy. Really dangerous, do you always carry a weapon with you?"
"Um, my job is dangerous, so I did it to protect myself." Dominic sat a little closer to me, resting his chin on the top of my head.
"How dangerous is it?" I looked at him curiously.
Dominic smiled slightly, he used his thumb to fake a gesture like cutting his neck.
"My enemies will kill me any time I let my guard down."
I gulped softly, imagining a scene like an action movie made me shiver. It seems that wanting to be rich like him also has to go through a lot of dangers, even at the expense of his life.
"Fear?" Dominic stroked my cold cheek. "My woman needn't be afraid of anyone. The one you should be afraid of is me."
I pulled the jacket closer to my body, not daring to look him in the eye.
"There are rumors about us. They are curious about your identity." I whispered. "They want to see if you love me, or just see me as a stay-at-home wife you don't care about."
"Hmm."
I mentioned how the girl in red suddenly came up to him and flirted, but I still pretended like this didn't really affect my feelings.
"Ask what you want to ask." Dominic grabbed my chin and turned it towards him.
"...Did you kiss her?"
"No." He lowered his head until his lips and mine were only a few millimeters apart. His breath came out, the faint scent of champagne. "Kiss me." He ordered.
I close my eyes and kiss him, a soft kiss. But for Dominic, it was not enough. He cupped my cheek, squeezing my chin lightly causing me to open my mouth, and then his tongue slipped inside my mouth. His tongue curled around mine, I couldn't even tell if I had a cocktail or a champagne in my mouth.
After a passionate French kiss, he bit my lip gently and rested his forehead on mine.
"You're jealous."
This is not a question but a definite statement. Has he ever guessed my feelings for him?
"But that's so lovely. A jealous woman is much more interesting than a boring, self-contained woman."
Dominic pulled my hand and helped me up, and we headed back to the party.
"Hahaha, Dominic, you came back just in time." As soon as the girl in the red dress saw Dominic come in, she immediately approached him, she just glanced at me for a moment and then turned back to smile at him. "We're playing cards, come in and play some games?"
Dominic glanced at me without answering her, like he was waiting for something. His eyes were arrogant and confident, like a sly wolf.
"I want to play."
I pull Dominic's hand and push her away slightly, my fingers tugging at his elbows shaking slightly, but I'm determined to look at him anyway.
"Okay."
Dominic smiled in satisfaction, wrapped his arms around my waist, and sat down where everyone else was playing cards. We play Poker, the rules are quite simple, but since I have never tried it, I am a bit worried.
Dominic let me sit on his lap, he lit a cigar and laughed freely with the dashing and playful guys.
"Dominic, are you letting your girlfriend play this time? Aren't you afraid we'll bully her?" Rory said, his tone full of humor and teasing.
"Why do you think you guys can bully her instead of her really bullying you?" Dominic raised an eyebrow.
The whole crowd burst into laughter. They didn't treat me rudely the way Layla and her friends did. They taught me how to play this game meticulously, made sure I understood, then started the game.
This game requires wagering. Because Dominic's friends are almost all the richest billionaires in the city, the amount of money they bet on each hand is also terrible. I feel like if I lose a game of cards, I lose a diamond.
This made me nervous. In the first game, my cards were pretty bad, so I decided to fold. Several games in a row, I still haven't had any luck, and Dominic's bet on me keeps dwindling. I was really pressured and looked at him with pleading eyes. I fear that with my poor card skills, Dominic will soon go bankrupt.
"Don't worry, just play. As long as you're happy, money doesn't matter to me." Dominic reassured me, he pulled out another check for a million dollars and gave it to Rory.
"Wow, how generous Dominic is to the beauty sitting on your lap today."
Everyone laughed at Rory's joke. The guy won several games in a row so the mood was very high.
"Tsk tsk, why would you let a stupid girl play cards? Want to spend your money as quickly as possible?" The girl in the red dress winked at Dominic, her tone slightly provocative and flirtatious. "Or let me play for you, I'll make you a lot of money."
"No need, I spend money for her to play, even if I sell a few plots of land in exchange for her smile, it's worth it." Dominic refused very gently, and at the same time he clearly showed his favoritism for me.
The girl in the red dress did not show any irritation, just pouted and sat down next to another guy, continuing to watch the game.
